Južnoafrička liječnica koja je otkrila varijante omikrona, Angelique Coetzee, našla se pod pritiskom europskih vlada, prenosi Slobodna Dalmacija.
Prema vlastitim izjavama, zamoljena je na početku novog vala pandemije da ne govori javno o blažem tijeku omikronskih infekcija.
“Rečeno mi je da ne govorim javno da je to blaga bolest”, rekla je Angelique Coetzee za Die Welt (izdanje u četvrtak). “Zamoljena sam da se suzdržim od takvih izjava i da kažem da se radi o teškoj bolesti. Ja sam to odbila", piše njemački Fenix, a prenosi hercegovina.info.
Liječnica se ne plaši pritisaka nadležnih: “Neću biti ušutkana”, rekla je.
Prema riječima Coetzee, pritisak na nju nisu izvršile južnoafričke vlasti, već europske zemlje. Prema izvješću Die Welta, imenovala je znanstvenike u Nizozemskoj i Velikoj Britaniji koji su je kritizirali jer je infekciju omikronom nazvala blagom bolešću, navodeći mnoge mutacije u varijanti omikrona. Liječnica je dodala kako vjeruje da su vlade “pretjerale”.
Prema njezinom mišljenju, a na osnovi kliničke slike nema znakova da “imamo posla s vrlo ozbiljnom bolešću. Tijek je uglavnom blag.”
Ona ne kaže da se s blagim tijekom ne razboliš. Međutim, WHO je jasno definirao definiciju blage bolesti Covida 19: “Pacijenti se mogu liječiti kod kuće i nije potrebna opskrba kisikom ili hospitalizacija”, objašnjava Coetzee.
Liječnica, koja radi u Pretoriji, predsjednica je Južnoafričkog liječničkog udruženja (Sama). Krajem studenog prva je skrenula pozornost na novu omikronsku varijantu korona virusa.
Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija (WHO) klasificirala je varijantu kao “zabrinjavajuću”. Nekoliko dana nakon što je obavijestila o novoj varijanti, Coetzee je u intervjuu za novinsku agenciju AFP rekla da je primijetila blaže simptome kod pacijenata zaraženih omikronom varijantom nego kod pacijenata s delta varijantom, koja je prije prevladavala.
Tada je kritizirala činjenicu da se s omikronom pretjeruje kao “izuzetno opasna varijanta virusa” s brojnim mutacijama, iako je njegova opasnost još uvijek nejasna.

Južnoafrička liječnica koja je otkrila varijante omikrona, Angelique Coetzee, našla se pod pritiskom europskih vlada, prenosi Slobodna Dalmacija.
Prema vlastitim izjavama, zamoljena je na početku novog vala pandemije da ne govori javno o blažem tijeku omikronskih infekcija.
“Rečeno mi je da ne govorim javno da je to blaga bolest”, rekla je Angelique Coetzee za Die Welt (izdanje u četvrtak). “Zamoljena sam da se suzdržim od takvih izjava i da kažem da se radi o teškoj bolesti. Ja sam to odbila", piše njemački Fenix, a prenosi hercegovina.info.
Liječnica se ne plaši pritisaka nadležnih: “Neću biti ušutkana”, rekla je.
Prema riječima Coetzee, pritisak na nju nisu izvršile južnoafričke vlasti, već europske zemlje. Prema izvješću Die Welta, imenovala je znanstvenike u Nizozemskoj i Velikoj Britaniji koji su je kritizirali jer je infekciju omikronom nazvala blagom bolešću, navodeći mnoge mutacije u varijanti omikrona. Liječnica je dodala kako vjeruje da su vlade “pretjerale”.
Prema njezinom mišljenju, a na osnovi kliničke slike nema znakova da “imamo posla s vrlo ozbiljnom bolešću. Tijek je uglavnom blag.”
Ona ne kaže da se s blagim tijekom ne razboliš. Međutim, WHO je jasno definirao definiciju blage bolesti Covida 19: “Pacijenti se mogu liječiti kod kuće i nije potrebna opskrba kisikom ili hospitalizacija”, objašnjava Coetzee.
Liječnica, koja radi u Pretoriji, predsjednica je Južnoafričkog liječničkog udruženja (Sama). Krajem studenog prva je skrenula pozornost na novu omikronsku varijantu korona virusa.
Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija (WHO) klasificirala je varijantu kao “zabrinjavajuću”. Nekoliko dana nakon što je obavijestila o novoj varijanti, Coetzee je u intervjuu za novinsku agenciju AFP rekla da je primijetila blaže simptome kod pacijenata zaraženih omikronom varijantom nego kod pacijenata s delta varijantom, koja je prije prevladavala.
Tada je kritizirala činjenicu da se s omikronom pretjeruje kao “izuzetno opasna varijanta virusa” s brojnim mutacijama, iako je njegova opasnost još uvijek nejasna.
