snimku grebena busenastog kamenog koralja na dnu Velikog jezera. Greben koralja Cladocora caespitosa u Velikom jezeru rasprostire se na površini od 650 metara kvadratnih, na dubini između 4 i 18 metara. Autor videa,

- To je jedna zanimljivost Nacionalnog parka Mljet i zapravo Velikog jezera u Nacionalnom parku. Nažalost, nema baš puno videosnimki tog lokaliteta i malo je to poznato, ali to je stanište busenastog koralja koji je mediteranski endem. Inače, ti su koralji manje veličine i ima ih u manjem broju, ima ih na primjer u Malostonskom zaljevu, ali isključivo na toj mikrolokaciji u Velikom jezeru. Zbog snažnog strujanja nastaju izrazito veliki koraljni grebeni koji svojom konfiguracijom i izgledom zapravo podsjećaju na velike koraljne grebene toplijih mora, toplih tropskih mora. Također, bogatstvo ribe je nevjerojatan! S obzirom na to da je tamo ribolov zabranjen, riba se udomaćila, mirna je, dopušta i bliži prilazak, što je očito iz onog videa koji sam snimio. Video sam dao Nacionalnom parku, oni su ga objavili, ima puno pregleda i to je zaista jedno bogatstvo koje je nevjerojatno i specifično, a prema informacijama koje sam dobio, takav koraljni greben nije zabilježen ni na Mediteranu, ističe Kunica.

- Kameni koralj (Cladocora caespitosa) je endem Sredozemnog mora. Osim Mljeta (Veliko jezero) gdje ga ima najviše, nalazimo ga uglavnom oko srednje dalmatinskih otoka i nešto malo u Istri, Limski kanal. Živi na dubinama od 4 do 50 metara na različitim vrstama dna. Može preživjeti temperature ispod 10 Celzijevih stupnjeva, a gornja granica je 28 Celzijevih stupnjeva. Hrani se heterotrofno i autotrofno, a razmnožava nespolno pupanjem i spolno u ljetnim mjesecima. Uz učestale temperaturne ekstreme, osobito u ljetnim mjesecima, visoke temperature kao posljedica globalnog zatopljivanja mogu uzrokovati izbacivanje algi simbionata (izbjeljivanje) i ugibanje koralja. Koralji na većim dubinama u ovakvim uvjetima imaju i veću šansu za preživljavanje. Visoke temperature mogu uzrokovati pojačani razvoj vrsta algi koje će ugroziti koralje obrastajući preko njih, ali isto tako pogoduju širenju alohtonih invazivnih vrsta koje također ugrožavaju koralje (ribe papigače ili alge Caulerpe), objašnjava Kožul te nastavlja:

- Razvojem svoje zajednice, koralji pružaju utočište i drugim vrstama organizama kao što su rakovi, mekušci, spužve i slično, što pogoduje bioraznolikosti i ukupnom broju organizama koji opstaju hraneći se na ovim područjima i to je važna ekološka uloga koralja. Indirektno tako pomaže čovjeku održavajući vrste koje lovimo. Ovi koralji su vrlo osjetljivi na klimatske promjene i djelovanje čovjeka pa se odgovornim ponašanjem mogu direktno ili indirektno sačuvati u našim vodama, zaključuje Kožul.

snimku grebena busenastog kamenog koralja na dnu Velikog jezera. Greben koralja Cladocora caespitosa u Velikom jezeru rasprostire se na površini od 650 metara kvadratnih, na dubini između 4 i 18 metara. Autor videa,

- To je jedna zanimljivost Nacionalnog parka Mljet i zapravo Velikog jezera u Nacionalnom parku. Nažalost, nema baš puno videosnimki tog lokaliteta i malo je to poznato, ali to je stanište busenastog koralja koji je mediteranski endem. Inače, ti su koralji manje veličine i ima ih u manjem broju, ima ih na primjer u Malostonskom zaljevu, ali isključivo na toj mikrolokaciji u Velikom jezeru. Zbog snažnog strujanja nastaju izrazito veliki koraljni grebeni koji svojom konfiguracijom i izgledom zapravo podsjećaju na velike koraljne grebene toplijih mora, toplih tropskih mora. Također, bogatstvo ribe je nevjerojatan! S obzirom na to da je tamo ribolov zabranjen, riba se udomaćila, mirna je, dopušta i bliži prilazak, što je očito iz onog videa koji sam snimio. Video sam dao Nacionalnom parku, oni su ga objavili, ima puno pregleda i to je zaista jedno bogatstvo koje je nevjerojatno i specifično, a prema informacijama koje sam dobio, takav koraljni greben nije zabilježen ni na Mediteranu, ističe Kunica.

- Kameni koralj (Cladocora caespitosa) je endem Sredozemnog mora. Osim Mljeta (Veliko jezero) gdje ga ima najviše, nalazimo ga uglavnom oko srednje dalmatinskih otoka i nešto malo u Istri, Limski kanal. Živi na dubinama od 4 do 50 metara na različitim vrstama dna. Može preživjeti temperature ispod 10 Celzijevih stupnjeva, a gornja granica je 28 Celzijevih stupnjeva. Hrani se heterotrofno i autotrofno, a razmnožava nespolno pupanjem i spolno u ljetnim mjesecima. Uz učestale temperaturne ekstreme, osobito u ljetnim mjesecima, visoke temperature kao posljedica globalnog zatopljivanja mogu uzrokovati izbacivanje algi simbionata (izbjeljivanje) i ugibanje koralja. Koralji na većim dubinama u ovakvim uvjetima imaju i veću šansu za preživljavanje. Visoke temperature mogu uzrokovati pojačani razvoj vrsta algi koje će ugroziti koralje obrastajući preko njih, ali isto tako pogoduju širenju alohtonih invazivnih vrsta koje također ugrožavaju koralje (ribe papigače ili alge Caulerpe), objašnjava Kožul te nastavlja:

- Razvojem svoje zajednice, koralji pružaju utočište i drugim vrstama organizama kao što su rakovi, mekušci, spužve i slično, što pogoduje bioraznolikosti i ukupnom broju organizama koji opstaju hraneći se na ovim područjima i to je važna ekološka uloga koralja. Indirektno tako pomaže čovjeku održavajući vrste koje lovimo. Ovi koralji su vrlo osjetljivi na klimatske promjene i djelovanje čovjeka pa se odgovornim ponašanjem mogu direktno ili indirektno sačuvati u našim vodama, zaključuje Kožul.
