Uz "Klausa" kao rijetku iznimku, Netflix je uglavnom imao više uspjeha s tuđim crtićima koje bi kupio od pojedine hollywoodske ili europske kompanije i prikazivao sa svojim logom, kao npr. "The Mitchells vs the Machines" ili "I Lost My Body". Međutim, s najnovijim animiranim filmom "Morska neman" ("The Sea Beast") Netflix se nameće kao potencijalno jak igrač u hollywoodskom animiranom odsjeku.

Netfixovci su pogodili kad su za režiju angažirali Chrisa Williamsa ("Grom"), koredatelja Disneyjevih megahitova "Ekipa za 6" i "Vaiana". "Morska neman" izgleda odlično, a ne kao neki generički streaming crtić, unatoč određenoj generičnosti u oblikovanju pojedinih likova, ljudi ili nemani.

Da netko ne vidi logo Netflixa, komotno bi mogao pomisliti da je "The Sea Beast" djelo Disneyja, DreamWorksa ili Sony Animationa. Disneyja najviše. I to onog iz devedesetih, dok su crtići još bili ručno animirani.

Poneki kadrovi djeluju upravo tako, samo presvučeni u novomilenijsko animirano ruho da se "Morska neman" može natjecati s aktualnim crtićima poput "Encanta", "Nesavršenog robota Rona", "Luke" ili "Raye i posljednjeg zmaja".

U tom natjecanju "The Sea Beast" ne izvlači deblji kraj. Animacija je najvećim dijelom upravo izvrsna i veoma fluidna, naročito u pomorskim akcijskim scenama s golemim jedrenjacima i još većim nemanima. Raznolike nemani su nalik Krakenu s pipcima iz "Sudara Titana" i "kaiju" čudovištima, što redatelju Williamsu dođe kao prilika da u neki scenama napravi animiranu inačicu "Bitke za Pacifik" ili "Bitke za Pacifik 2".

Utjecaji su prisutni u crtiću koji na vlastiti način spaja "kaiju" spektakl "Pacific Rim-a" sa "slapstick" avanturom serijala "Pirates of The Carribean" i mitologijom fantazije "How To Train Your Dragon", a odaje posvete i animiranim klasicima poput "Pinokija" u sceni kad protagonisti završe u utrobi monstruma nakon što ih proguta zajedno s čamcem.

Voda (tj. more) dosad je ponajbolje animirana kad su crtići u pitanju. Vodeni i podvodni kadrovi čine vrhunac filma koji spaja "Gospodara i ratnika", "U srcu mora" i "Pirate s Kariba" u priči o ratu ljudi i nemani u središtu kojeg se nalazi junački lovac na čudovišta Jacob Holland (glas Karla Urbana), pomoćnik starog kapetana Crowa (Jared Harris) koji je svojevrsni Ahab u lovu na monstruozne Moby Dickove ovog crtića.

O Crowu i Jacobu čita mlada Maisie (Zaris-Angel Hator), a kad se sakrije kao slijepi putnik u bačvi na njihovu brodu postat će i sama dio avanturističko-fantazijske priče, ali i shvatiti da priče o kojima je čitala nisu nužno istinite i da je more dom nemani u koji ljudi dolaze nepozvani. Prema pričama su nemani započele rat, stoga Jacob misli "Ubijamo ih jer oni ubijaju nas" prije nego i sam skuži da je njegov pogled na svijet bio nametnut "izvana" i da je njegovo junačenje bilo u krive svrhe.

S aktualnim temama skrivenima ispod površine, ovaj crtić, dakle, umije biti nešto dublji, propitivati priče i mitove, junake i junaštvo, te propagirati antinasilje dok prikazuje da čudovišta mogu biti "više od zvijeri", poput crvene nemani (Bluster) koja će spasiti Jacoba i Maisie od drugog monstruma i postupno se zbližiti s njima na tragu animiranog serijala "Kako izdresirati zmaja". Ne bi bilo iznenađenje da i Netflixov crtić animira nastavke. Kako izdresirati "kaiju".

Chris Williams se okušao i u glasovnim ulogama u crtićima kao što je "Snježno kraljevstvo" (lik zvan Oaken) .

Uz "Klausa" kao rijetku iznimku, Netflix je uglavnom imao više uspjeha s tuđim crtićima koje bi kupio od pojedine hollywoodske ili europske kompanije i prikazivao sa svojim logom, kao npr. "The Mitchells vs the Machines" ili "I Lost My Body". Međutim, s najnovijim animiranim filmom "Morska neman" ("The Sea Beast") Netflix se nameće kao potencijalno jak igrač u hollywoodskom animiranom odsjeku.

Netfixovci su pogodili kad su za režiju angažirali Chrisa Williamsa ("Grom"), koredatelja Disneyjevih megahitova "Ekipa za 6" i "Vaiana". "Morska neman" izgleda odlično, a ne kao neki generički streaming crtić, unatoč određenoj generičnosti u oblikovanju pojedinih likova, ljudi ili nemani.

Da netko ne vidi logo Netflixa, komotno bi mogao pomisliti da je "The Sea Beast" djelo Disneyja, DreamWorksa ili Sony Animationa. Disneyja najviše. I to onog iz devedesetih, dok su crtići još bili ručno animirani.

Poneki kadrovi djeluju upravo tako, samo presvučeni u novomilenijsko animirano ruho da se "Morska neman" može natjecati s aktualnim crtićima poput "Encanta", "Nesavršenog robota Rona", "Luke" ili "Raye i posljednjeg zmaja".

U tom natjecanju "The Sea Beast" ne izvlači deblji kraj. Animacija je najvećim dijelom upravo izvrsna i veoma fluidna, naročito u pomorskim akcijskim scenama s golemim jedrenjacima i još većim nemanima. Raznolike nemani su nalik Krakenu s pipcima iz "Sudara Titana" i "kaiju" čudovištima, što redatelju Williamsu dođe kao prilika da u neki scenama napravi animiranu inačicu "Bitke za Pacifik" ili "Bitke za Pacifik 2".

Utjecaji su prisutni u crtiću koji na vlastiti način spaja "kaiju" spektakl "Pacific Rim-a" sa "slapstick" avanturom serijala "Pirates of The Carribean" i mitologijom fantazije "How To Train Your Dragon", a odaje posvete i animiranim klasicima poput "Pinokija" u sceni kad protagonisti završe u utrobi monstruma nakon što ih proguta zajedno s čamcem.

Voda (tj. more) dosad je ponajbolje animirana kad su crtići u pitanju. Vodeni i podvodni kadrovi čine vrhunac filma koji spaja "Gospodara i ratnika", "U srcu mora" i "Pirate s Kariba" u priči o ratu ljudi i nemani u središtu kojeg se nalazi junački lovac na čudovišta Jacob Holland (glas Karla Urbana), pomoćnik starog kapetana Crowa (Jared Harris) koji je svojevrsni Ahab u lovu na monstruozne Moby Dickove ovog crtića.

O Crowu i Jacobu čita mlada Maisie (Zaris-Angel Hator), a kad se sakrije kao slijepi putnik u bačvi na njihovu brodu postat će i sama dio avanturističko-fantazijske priče, ali i shvatiti da priče o kojima je čitala nisu nužno istinite i da je more dom nemani u koji ljudi dolaze nepozvani. Prema pričama su nemani započele rat, stoga Jacob misli "Ubijamo ih jer oni ubijaju nas" prije nego i sam skuži da je njegov pogled na svijet bio nametnut "izvana" i da je njegovo junačenje bilo u krive svrhe.

S aktualnim temama skrivenima ispod površine, ovaj crtić, dakle, umije biti nešto dublji, propitivati priče i mitove, junake i junaštvo, te propagirati antinasilje dok prikazuje da čudovišta mogu biti "više od zvijeri", poput crvene nemani (Bluster) koja će spasiti Jacoba i Maisie od drugog monstruma i postupno se zbližiti s njima na tragu animiranog serijala "Kako izdresirati zmaja". Ne bi bilo iznenađenje da i Netflixov crtić animira nastavke. Kako izdresirati "kaiju".

Chris Williams se okušao i u glasovnim ulogama u crtićima kao što je "Snježno kraljevstvo" (lik zvan Oaken) .
