Svaki film Pedra Almodovara je praznik za Splićane pa ima smisla da novi uradak španjolskog redatelja "Paralelne majke" ("Madres paralelas"/"Parallel Mothers") kreće u domaća kina u blagdansko doba, samo dva dana prije Božića. Najomiljeniji (neamerički) režiser splitskih filmofila vratio se s još jednom profinjenom "almodovarovskom" melodramom za kojom već vlada velik interes domaće publike.

Splićanima je dosta reći "novi Almodovar" da dođu u (gradska) kina u velikom broju, posebice ako je Pedro angažirao muzu Penelope Cruz, posljednji put viđenu u redateljevoj "Tuzi i slavi". Penelope glumi u "Paralelnim majkama" i zasluženo je osvojila nagradu na Venecijanskom festivalu za odličnu izvedbu u njezinom sedmom nastupu za čuvenog filmaša ako računamo i epizodicu u "Putnicima ljubavnicima".

Cruz je uvijek vrhunska u Almodovarovim filmovima, a uloga sredovječne samohrane majke i fotografkinje Janis jedna je od njezinih najboljih, možda i najbolja. I "Madres paralelas" je jedna od boljih suradnji Almodovar-Cruz, ako već ne i Pedrovih filmova općenito.

Utoliko je zanimljivo da su "Paralelne majke" izišle četvrt stoljeća nakon prve suradnje redatelja i glumice ("Živo meso"), odnosno u godini kad je "Vraćam se", prvi Almodovarov film u kojem je Penelope imala glavnu ulogu i bila nominirana za Oscara, obilježio 15. obljetnicu.

"Volver" je bio značajan i u Pedrovoj karijeri kao definitivna potvrda nekog novog, zrelijeg, manje iskričavo "sapuničastog" i temperamentnog, ali jednako živopisnog Almodovara, naviještena prethodnim dvama filmovima "Sve o mojoj majci" (s Cruz) i "Pričaj s njom".

Bez "Vraćam se" ne bi bilo njihovih "Slomljenih zagrljaja", a bez "Broken Embraces" ne bi bilo "Parallel Mothers". Ljubitelji Almodovara sjetit će se da su "Paralelne majke" bile film unutar filma u "Slomljenim zagrljajima" i njegov plakat s kockicama u praznom gnijezdu jasno se vidio u jednom kadru.

Već tada je Pedro imao ideju za ovaj film. Tko zna kakav bi "Paralle Mothers" bio da ga je Almodovar snimio odmah iza "Broken Embraces", umjesto "Kože u kojoj živim", no danas se, nakon "Pain and Glory", prirodno uklapa u opus vodećeg redatelja modernih melodrama, nasljednika Douglasa Sirka.

Pretposljednji i posljednji Pedrov film dijele proganjajuću notu i maksimalnu zrelost redatelja sad već prepoznatljive sućutnosti prema likovima i sposobnosti da ih načini pamtljivim poput Janis, mlade mame Ane (izvrsna Milena Smit; "Pogrešan korak"), Anine majke (Aitana Sánchez-Gijón; "Šetnja u oblacima") i urednice časopisa za koji Janis fotografira (Almodovarova "kućna glumica" Rossy de Palma).

Mračna španjolska prošlost je proganjajuća u "Paralelnim majkama" i seže do Građanskog rata u najpolitičkijem Pedrovu filmu, povremeno neujednačeno razapetom između politike, majčinstva i feminizma, a ne mogu je skriti ni prepoznatljivo jarke boje otisnute na scenografiji i kostimografiji unutar njegove mizanscene. Naime, Janis na početku priče, tijekom "photosessiona", upoznaje forenzičkog antropologa Artura (Israel Elajlde) koji bi joj mogao pomoći oko ekshumacije posmrtnih ostataka žrtava fašističkih ubojica, uključujući njezinog djeda.

Nakon što Janis i Arturo završe u krevetu i Almodovar obavije kadar seksa vijorećom bijelom zavjesom, redatelj pomalo naprasno napušta taj zaplet da bi ga još naprasnije vratio u završnici. No, duh prošlosti u drugom planu bdije nad Janis koja je dobila ime po legendarnoj Janis Joplin i njezina pjesma "Summertime" ozvučit će jednu od najljepših scena filma o obiteljskom gnijezdu, nasljeđu i majčinstvu, pomirenju s prošlosti, ali i sadašnjosti.

Kad Janis zatrudni s oženjenim Arturom, odlučna je da će biti samohrana majka, nastavljajući feminističku tradiciju njezine mame i bake (vidimo je u majici s natpisom "We should all be feminists"). Ona u rodilištu sreće budući samohranu majku, mladu trudnicu Anu.

Da ne otkrijemo previše i pokvarimo gledanje, recimo samo da će dvije žene biti zauvijek povezane u "almodovarovski" zapetljani melodramski čvor nakon što rode istovremeno u dojmljivom primjeru paralelne montaže. Paralelna montaža, paralelne majke. U veoma slojevitom Pedrovu filmu paralele su majka povezanosti. Paralele između majki, roditelja i djece, prošlosti i sadašnjosti, rođenja, života i smrti.

Svaki film Pedra Almodovara je praznik za Splićane pa ima smisla da novi uradak španjolskog redatelja "Paralelne majke" ("Madres paralelas"/"Parallel Mothers") kreće u domaća kina u blagdansko doba, samo dva dana prije Božića. Najomiljeniji (neamerički) režiser splitskih filmofila vratio se s još jednom profinjenom "almodovarovskom" melodramom za kojom već vlada velik interes domaće publike.

Splićanima je dosta reći "novi Almodovar" da dođu u (gradska) kina u velikom broju, posebice ako je Pedro angažirao muzu Penelope Cruz, posljednji put viđenu u redateljevoj "Tuzi i slavi". Penelope glumi u "Paralelnim majkama" i zasluženo je osvojila nagradu na Venecijanskom festivalu za odličnu izvedbu u njezinom sedmom nastupu za čuvenog filmaša ako računamo i epizodicu u "Putnicima ljubavnicima".

Cruz je uvijek vrhunska u Almodovarovim filmovima, a uloga sredovječne samohrane majke i fotografkinje Janis jedna je od njezinih najboljih, možda i najbolja. I "Madres paralelas" je jedna od boljih suradnji Almodovar-Cruz, ako već ne i Pedrovih filmova općenito.

Utoliko je zanimljivo da su "Paralelne majke" izišle četvrt stoljeća nakon prve suradnje redatelja i glumice ("Živo meso"), odnosno u godini kad je "Vraćam se", prvi Almodovarov film u kojem je Penelope imala glavnu ulogu i bila nominirana za Oscara, obilježio 15. obljetnicu.

"Volver" je bio značajan i u Pedrovoj karijeri kao definitivna potvrda nekog novog, zrelijeg, manje iskričavo "sapuničastog" i temperamentnog, ali jednako živopisnog Almodovara, naviještena prethodnim dvama filmovima "Sve o mojoj majci" (s Cruz) i "Pričaj s njom".

Bez "Vraćam se" ne bi bilo njihovih "Slomljenih zagrljaja", a bez "Broken Embraces" ne bi bilo "Parallel Mothers". Ljubitelji Almodovara sjetit će se da su "Paralelne majke" bile film unutar filma u "Slomljenim zagrljajima" i njegov plakat s kockicama u praznom gnijezdu jasno se vidio u jednom kadru.

Već tada je Pedro imao ideju za ovaj film. Tko zna kakav bi "Paralle Mothers" bio da ga je Almodovar snimio odmah iza "Broken Embraces", umjesto "Kože u kojoj živim", no danas se, nakon "Pain and Glory", prirodno uklapa u opus vodećeg redatelja modernih melodrama, nasljednika Douglasa Sirka.

Pretposljednji i posljednji Pedrov film dijele proganjajuću notu i maksimalnu zrelost redatelja sad već prepoznatljive sućutnosti prema likovima i sposobnosti da ih načini pamtljivim poput Janis, mlade mame Ane (izvrsna Milena Smit; "Pogrešan korak"), Anine majke (Aitana Sánchez-Gijón; "Šetnja u oblacima") i urednice časopisa za koji Janis fotografira (Almodovarova "kućna glumica" Rossy de Palma).

Mračna španjolska prošlost je proganjajuća u "Paralelnim majkama" i seže do Građanskog rata u najpolitičkijem Pedrovu filmu, povremeno neujednačeno razapetom između politike, majčinstva i feminizma, a ne mogu je skriti ni prepoznatljivo jarke boje otisnute na scenografiji i kostimografiji unutar njegove mizanscene. Naime, Janis na početku priče, tijekom "photosessiona", upoznaje forenzičkog antropologa Artura (Israel Elajlde) koji bi joj mogao pomoći oko ekshumacije posmrtnih ostataka žrtava fašističkih ubojica, uključujući njezinog djeda.

Nakon što Janis i Arturo završe u krevetu i Almodovar obavije kadar seksa vijorećom bijelom zavjesom, redatelj pomalo naprasno napušta taj zaplet da bi ga još naprasnije vratio u završnici. No, duh prošlosti u drugom planu bdije nad Janis koja je dobila ime po legendarnoj Janis Joplin i njezina pjesma "Summertime" ozvučit će jednu od najljepših scena filma o obiteljskom gnijezdu, nasljeđu i majčinstvu, pomirenju s prošlosti, ali i sadašnjosti.

Kad Janis zatrudni s oženjenim Arturom, odlučna je da će biti samohrana majka, nastavljajući feminističku tradiciju njezine mame i bake (vidimo je u majici s natpisom "We should all be feminists"). Ona u rodilištu sreće budući samohranu majku, mladu trudnicu Anu.

Da ne otkrijemo previše i pokvarimo gledanje, recimo samo da će dvije žene biti zauvijek povezane u "almodovarovski" zapetljani melodramski čvor nakon što rode istovremeno u dojmljivom primjeru paralelne montaže. Paralelna montaža, paralelne majke. U veoma slojevitom Pedrovu filmu paralele su majka povezanosti. Paralele između majki, roditelja i djece, prošlosti i sadašnjosti, rođenja, života i smrti.
