Veselu družinu Robina Hooda pošteno je isprebijala princeza Fiona u prvom "Shreku" koristeći "matrixovske" finte u usporenom pokretu. Bila je to prva postmoderna akcijska inverzija i subverzija klasične diznijevske princeze iz sada već davne 2001. godine.

Otad naovamo, diznijevske princeze su doživjele (r)evoluciju (npr. "Vrlo zapetljana priča", "Merida hrabra", "Raya i posljednji zmaj") i više nisu bile dame u očekivanju princa na bijelom konju da ih spasi. Međutim, nikad dosad diznijevska princeza nije bila punokrvna akcijska heroina kao što je to u prilično subverzivnom filmu "The Princess" koji je premijeru doživio na Disneyjevom streaming servisu Hulu.

Disneyjevi animirani filmovi s kraljevnama u glavnim ulogama kleli su se u klasične bajke braće Grimm, a "Princeza" se kune u novomilenijske akcijske filmove kao što su "Racija" ("The Raid"), "John Wick" i "Atomska plavuša" ("Atomic Blonde").

"The Princess" ubacuje princezu Matovilku/Rapunzel u "Raciju", a ona neće čekati da je princ Iko Uwais izbavi iz visoke kule, nego se sama spašava ne ostajući dužna ni njemu ni Johnu Wicku ni Atomskoj plavuši.

Početak filma je bajkovito klasičan: bezimena princeza (Joey King; "Slender Man") leži na krevetu u najvišoj sobi dvorca odjevena u vjenčanicu i njezina duga kosa prekriva jastuk. Međutim, u sobu ne ulazi princ da poljupcem probudi uspavanu ljepoticu nego dvojica čuvara koji su je došli poviriti, a i ona je u okovima, zavezana za krevet.

"Ovo je princeza, sva čista za vjenčanje", kaže jedan od njih, dok princeza lomi prst da skine okove s ruku, što je napravila i junakinja nedavnog "Presretača" kojemu je "Princeza" superiornija. Kad princeza sredi obojicu i demonstrira sve samo ne "ladylike behaviour" po mjeri "slatke male princeze", ubrzo dobivamo konture priče scenrističkog dvojca Ben Lustig-Jake Thornton.

Junakinju je oteo plemić Julius (neuvjerljivi Dominic Cooper; "Đavolji dvojnik") uz pomoć svoje pomoćnice Moire (Olga Kurylenko, ubojita skoro kao u "Centurionu") i vojske kako bi je oženio protivno njezinoj volji, a zatočio je njezinu obitelj, kralja i kraljicu (Ed Stoppard, Alex Reid). Stoga ona odluči pobjeći, a to može napraviti samo ako se uspije spustiti od vrha do dna kule i proći sve čuvare.

Eto još jedne subverzije filma "The Princess". Za razliku od akcijskih junaka koji su se, kat po kat, dizali do vrha vertikalne falusoidne građevine i sređivali oponente, od Brucea Leeja u "Posljednjoj igri smrti" preko njegova imenjaka Willisa u "Umri muški", do Uwaisa, princeza se spušta od gornjih do donjih katova sve do dna i usput šakama, nogama, mačevima i čime sve ne simbolično kreše muškost Juliusovih podanika, zamalo i doslovno, koristeći ih i za ublažavanje pada s visine.

U jednoj sceni ona uzima i kriglu pive sa stola nekolicine muškaraca, popije je na iskap ("Trebalo mi je!") i muški podrigne. "Princeza" se može gledati u maratonu sa "Spremni ili ne", još jednim feminističkim filmom o heroini u vjenčanici koja se bori protiv napadača hladnim oružjem na izoliranom mjestu.

Samo, ovdje je naglasak na goloj akciji kakvu vijetnamski redatelj Le-Van Kiet (festivalska akcijska senzacija "Furie", slabašna "Strava iz dubina") režira više nego solidno. Kiet ne doseže akcijsku briljantnost tipa "The Raid 2", "Atomic Blonde", "John Wick 2" ili "The Villainess", ali uglavnom nadmašuje recentne "ženske" akciće kao što su "Anna", "Kate", "Plaćenica", "Jolt", "Metak i milkshake", kamoli "Ava" i "Ritam tijela".

Režija je energična i svaki put kad film izgubi momentum zahvaljujući flešbekovima s ciljem da prikažu kako je princeza postala junakinja ratničkog srca, gotovo stroj za ubijanje ("nije rođena ovakva"; učila je borilačke vještine i mačevanje kao mala), Kiet ga nanovo pronađe.

Vijetnamski filmaš pojačava kinetiku koreografirajući akciju u dužim, montažno neprekinutim kadrovima i prati uživljenu King u svakom stopu dok njezina princeza "odbija umrijeti opet i iznova" i sređuje muškarce koji joj govore "Netko te mora naučiti gdje ti je mjesto" i slične seksističke opaske. "Pazi na jezik, u nazočnosti si princeze", podsjeća King i do zadnje scene zaslužuje krunu akcijske kraljice.

Veselu družinu Robina Hooda pošteno je isprebijala princeza Fiona u prvom "Shreku" koristeći "matrixovske" finte u usporenom pokretu. Bila je to prva postmoderna akcijska inverzija i subverzija klasične diznijevske princeze iz sada već davne 2001. godine.

Otad naovamo, diznijevske princeze su doživjele (r)evoluciju (npr. "Vrlo zapetljana priča", "Merida hrabra", "Raya i posljednji zmaj") i više nisu bile dame u očekivanju princa na bijelom konju da ih spasi. Međutim, nikad dosad diznijevska princeza nije bila punokrvna akcijska heroina kao što je to u prilično subverzivnom filmu "The Princess" koji je premijeru doživio na Disneyjevom streaming servisu Hulu.

Disneyjevi animirani filmovi s kraljevnama u glavnim ulogama kleli su se u klasične bajke braće Grimm, a "Princeza" se kune u novomilenijske akcijske filmove kao što su "Racija" ("The Raid"), "John Wick" i "Atomska plavuša" ("Atomic Blonde").

"The Princess" ubacuje princezu Matovilku/Rapunzel u "Raciju", a ona neće čekati da je princ Iko Uwais izbavi iz visoke kule, nego se sama spašava ne ostajući dužna ni njemu ni Johnu Wicku ni Atomskoj plavuši.

Početak filma je bajkovito klasičan: bezimena princeza (Joey King; "Slender Man") leži na krevetu u najvišoj sobi dvorca odjevena u vjenčanicu i njezina duga kosa prekriva jastuk. Međutim, u sobu ne ulazi princ da poljupcem probudi uspavanu ljepoticu nego dvojica čuvara koji su je došli poviriti, a i ona je u okovima, zavezana za krevet.

"Ovo je princeza, sva čista za vjenčanje", kaže jedan od njih, dok princeza lomi prst da skine okove s ruku, što je napravila i junakinja nedavnog "Presretača" kojemu je "Princeza" superiornija. Kad princeza sredi obojicu i demonstrira sve samo ne "ladylike behaviour" po mjeri "slatke male princeze", ubrzo dobivamo konture priče scenrističkog dvojca Ben Lustig-Jake Thornton.

Junakinju je oteo plemić Julius (neuvjerljivi Dominic Cooper; "Đavolji dvojnik") uz pomoć svoje pomoćnice Moire (Olga Kurylenko, ubojita skoro kao u "Centurionu") i vojske kako bi je oženio protivno njezinoj volji, a zatočio je njezinu obitelj, kralja i kraljicu (Ed Stoppard, Alex Reid). Stoga ona odluči pobjeći, a to može napraviti samo ako se uspije spustiti od vrha do dna kule i proći sve čuvare.

Eto još jedne subverzije filma "The Princess". Za razliku od akcijskih junaka koji su se, kat po kat, dizali do vrha vertikalne falusoidne građevine i sređivali oponente, od Brucea Leeja u "Posljednjoj igri smrti" preko njegova imenjaka Willisa u "Umri muški", do Uwaisa, princeza se spušta od gornjih do donjih katova sve do dna i usput šakama, nogama, mačevima i čime sve ne simbolično kreše muškost Juliusovih podanika, zamalo i doslovno, koristeći ih i za ublažavanje pada s visine.

U jednoj sceni ona uzima i kriglu pive sa stola nekolicine muškaraca, popije je na iskap ("Trebalo mi je!") i muški podrigne. "Princeza" se može gledati u maratonu sa "Spremni ili ne", još jednim feminističkim filmom o heroini u vjenčanici koja se bori protiv napadača hladnim oružjem na izoliranom mjestu.

Samo, ovdje je naglasak na goloj akciji kakvu vijetnamski redatelj Le-Van Kiet (festivalska akcijska senzacija "Furie", slabašna "Strava iz dubina") režira više nego solidno. Kiet ne doseže akcijsku briljantnost tipa "The Raid 2", "Atomic Blonde", "John Wick 2" ili "The Villainess", ali uglavnom nadmašuje recentne "ženske" akciće kao što su "Anna", "Kate", "Plaćenica", "Jolt", "Metak i milkshake", kamoli "Ava" i "Ritam tijela".

Režija je energična i svaki put kad film izgubi momentum zahvaljujući flešbekovima s ciljem da prikažu kako je princeza postala junakinja ratničkog srca, gotovo stroj za ubijanje ("nije rođena ovakva"; učila je borilačke vještine i mačevanje kao mala), Kiet ga nanovo pronađe.

Vijetnamski filmaš pojačava kinetiku koreografirajući akciju u dužim, montažno neprekinutim kadrovima i prati uživljenu King u svakom stopu dok njezina princeza "odbija umrijeti opet i iznova" i sređuje muškarce koji joj govore "Netko te mora naučiti gdje ti je mjesto" i slične seksističke opaske. "Pazi na jezik, u nazočnosti si princeze", podsjeća King i do zadnje scene zaslužuje krunu akcijske kraljice.
