Drago nam je vidjeti da se Eddie Murphy vratio: “comeback” je ostvario 2019. sjajnom Netflixovom komedijom “Dolemite Is My Name” nakon što je u proteklih 15-ak godina snimio jedva par suvislijih filmova (“Velika krađa nebodera”, “Komadi iz snova”, “Nemogući Dave”). Međutim, žao nam je da dva naredna Murhpyjeva komična filma nisu ni blizu na razini “Dolemitea”.

Najprije Amazonov “Coming 2 America”, a sada i Netflixov “Vaši i naši” (“You People”). “Dolemite” je podsjetio zašto je Eddie bio ponajveća komičarska faca osamdesetih, kad nas je nasmijavao do suza filmovima “48 sati”, “Kolo sreće”, “Policajac s Beverly Hillsa I&II”...

”Coming 2 America” je probao ići u tom smjeru kao nastavak njegovog hita osamdesetih “Princ otkriva Ameriku”, no ispao je krajnje nedostojan originala. Gledljivi i instant zaboravljivi “Vaši i naši” također se zagledavaju u prošlost komičnog žanra, ali nisu nastavak nekog Murphyjevog hita, već varijacija na klasik “Pogodi tko dolazi na večeru” i serijal “Dozvola za brak” s Eddiejem u ulozi koju je u potonjem filmu igrao Robert De Niro, njegov partner iz akcijske komedije “Showtime”.

Murphy je Akbar Mohammed, otac djevojke (Amira; Lauren London) zaljubljene u bijelog Židova Ezru Cohena (Jonah Hill). Ezra nam se predstavlja kao autor “podcasta” o rasnim razlikama koji vodi s tamnoputom prijateljicom Mo (Sam Jay). Već tad je jasno na što tipuje “You People” i prije nego što Ezra upozna Amiru zamijenivši je za vozačicu Ubera, odnosno njezine “black Muslim” roditelje, Akbara i Fatimu (Nia Long), kao i ona njegove, Arnolda i Shelley (David Duchovny, Julia Louis-Dreyfus).

S jedne strane, dakle, obitelj bijelih Židova, s druge crni Muslimani. Ovo je komedija s tzv. društvenim komentarom o sudaru rasa/kultura/religija koja propituje razlike i stereotipe unutar međurasnih parova/obitelji, ali radi to na pomodni “woke” način, manje prirodno i iskreno u odnosu na “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner”, a nije ni urnebesno zabavna kao “Meet The Parents”.

Hill je koscenarist filma zajedno s Kenyom Barris (kreatorica serije “Black-ish”), ujedno i koproducent, no “Vaši i naši” su manje autentični od njegovog prethodnog autorskog projekta, poštene “indie” drame “Mid90’s”, koji je i režirao. Možda bi “You People” bio bolji kao drama, ne komedija, posebice zato što je film sklon doticanju teških tema (holokaust, ropstvo) koje se neravnomjerno miješaju s pokušajima lakonotnog “sitcomovskog” humora.

Da stvar bude gora, Eddie praktički i glumi Akbara kao da se nalazi u drami i uglavnom je smrtno ozbiljan, ali ne isporučuje komiku na takozvani “deadpan” način da bi to imalo smisla. Verbalni i ini sparing Murphja kao veterana komedije s komičarom mlađe generacije Hillom načelno je imao potencijala računajući da je Akbar u startu antagonistički nastrojen prema Ezri i smatra da on nije dostojan ruke njegove kćerke.

Hill je spreman za komediju nakon što je proteklih desetak godina znao mijenjati fah i glumiti u nešto drukčijim filmovima (“Igra pobjednika”, “Vuk s Wall Streeta”, “Psi rata”, “Ne brini, neće on daleko stići”, “Ne gledaj gore”; serija “Manijak”) u odnosu na one kakve je obično snimao (“To je rock ‘n’ roll”, “21 Jump Street”, “Susjedi treće vrste”, “Ovo je kraj”, “22 Jump Street”...).

Primjerice, Akbar će se naći na Ezrinoj momačkoj večeri sa striptizetama i kokainom, što zvuči potencijalno urnebesno, ali u stvarnosti jedva da izmami jedan obični cerek zbog Eddiejeve ozbiljnosti. Stječe se dojam kao da je Murphy pogriješio film ili da je film, možda, pogriješio njega.

Eddie Murphy upravo snima četvrtog "Policajca s Beverly Hillsa" radnog naslova "Axel Foley", također u produkciji Netflixa. Držimo fige da će to biti to.

Drago nam je vidjeti da se Eddie Murphy vratio: “comeback” je ostvario 2019. sjajnom Netflixovom komedijom “Dolemite Is My Name” nakon što je u proteklih 15-ak godina snimio jedva par suvislijih filmova (“Velika krađa nebodera”, “Komadi iz snova”, “Nemogući Dave”). Međutim, žao nam je da dva naredna Murhpyjeva komična filma nisu ni blizu na razini “Dolemitea”.

Najprije Amazonov “Coming 2 America”, a sada i Netflixov “Vaši i naši” (“You People”). “Dolemite” je podsjetio zašto je Eddie bio ponajveća komičarska faca osamdesetih, kad nas je nasmijavao do suza filmovima “48 sati”, “Kolo sreće”, “Policajac s Beverly Hillsa I&II”...

”Coming 2 America” je probao ići u tom smjeru kao nastavak njegovog hita osamdesetih “Princ otkriva Ameriku”, no ispao je krajnje nedostojan originala. Gledljivi i instant zaboravljivi “Vaši i naši” također se zagledavaju u prošlost komičnog žanra, ali nisu nastavak nekog Murphyjevog hita, već varijacija na klasik “Pogodi tko dolazi na večeru” i serijal “Dozvola za brak” s Eddiejem u ulozi koju je u potonjem filmu igrao Robert De Niro, njegov partner iz akcijske komedije “Showtime”.

Murphy je Akbar Mohammed, otac djevojke (Amira; Lauren London) zaljubljene u bijelog Židova Ezru Cohena (Jonah Hill). Ezra nam se predstavlja kao autor “podcasta” o rasnim razlikama koji vodi s tamnoputom prijateljicom Mo (Sam Jay). Već tad je jasno na što tipuje “You People” i prije nego što Ezra upozna Amiru zamijenivši je za vozačicu Ubera, odnosno njezine “black Muslim” roditelje, Akbara i Fatimu (Nia Long), kao i ona njegove, Arnolda i Shelley (David Duchovny, Julia Louis-Dreyfus).

S jedne strane, dakle, obitelj bijelih Židova, s druge crni Muslimani. Ovo je komedija s tzv. društvenim komentarom o sudaru rasa/kultura/religija koja propituje razlike i stereotipe unutar međurasnih parova/obitelji, ali radi to na pomodni “woke” način, manje prirodno i iskreno u odnosu na “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner”, a nije ni urnebesno zabavna kao “Meet The Parents”.

Hill je koscenarist filma zajedno s Kenyom Barris (kreatorica serije “Black-ish”), ujedno i koproducent, no “Vaši i naši” su manje autentični od njegovog prethodnog autorskog projekta, poštene “indie” drame “Mid90’s”, koji je i režirao. Možda bi “You People” bio bolji kao drama, ne komedija, posebice zato što je film sklon doticanju teških tema (holokaust, ropstvo) koje se neravnomjerno miješaju s pokušajima lakonotnog “sitcomovskog” humora.

Da stvar bude gora, Eddie praktički i glumi Akbara kao da se nalazi u drami i uglavnom je smrtno ozbiljan, ali ne isporučuje komiku na takozvani “deadpan” način da bi to imalo smisla. Verbalni i ini sparing Murphja kao veterana komedije s komičarom mlađe generacije Hillom načelno je imao potencijala računajući da je Akbar u startu antagonistički nastrojen prema Ezri i smatra da on nije dostojan ruke njegove kćerke.

Hill je spreman za komediju nakon što je proteklih desetak godina znao mijenjati fah i glumiti u nešto drukčijim filmovima (“Igra pobjednika”, “Vuk s Wall Streeta”, “Psi rata”, “Ne brini, neće on daleko stići”, “Ne gledaj gore”; serija “Manijak”) u odnosu na one kakve je obično snimao (“To je rock ‘n’ roll”, “21 Jump Street”, “Susjedi treće vrste”, “Ovo je kraj”, “22 Jump Street”...).

Primjerice, Akbar će se naći na Ezrinoj momačkoj večeri sa striptizetama i kokainom, što zvuči potencijalno urnebesno, ali u stvarnosti jedva da izmami jedan obični cerek zbog Eddiejeve ozbiljnosti. Stječe se dojam kao da je Murphy pogriješio film ili da je film, možda, pogriješio njega.

Eddie Murphy upravo snima četvrtog "Policajca s Beverly Hillsa" radnog naslova "Axel Foley", također u produkciji Netflixa. Držimo fige da će to biti to.
