Austrijanac Christoph Waltz uletio je na filmsku scenu kao veliki glumac kad se pojavio u "Nemilosrdnim gadovima" Quentina Tarantina u ulozi slatkorječivog i blagoglagoljivog na(r)cističkog pukovnika Hansa Lande, osvojivši publiku i kritiku od prve do posljednje scene.

Djelovao je kao iznimno osvježenje u svijetu filma i glumio poput povjetarca, s nevjerojatnom lakoćom glumačkog postojanja. Zlatni kipić za sporednu mušku ulogu na dodjeli Oscara 2010. godine otišao je u prave ruke. Međutim, pokazat će se da Waltz u nadolazećim ulogama radi varijacije na lik Lande mijenjajući polove svojih karaktera, od negativca do pozitivca.

Dobio je drugog Oscara tri godine poslije, 2013., za prilično sličnu izvedbu u također Tarantinovu "Oslobođenom Djangu", samo što je dr. King Schultz bio "good guy", ali čini se da ga je američka Akademija prozrijela i otad naovamo više nije dobio nijednu nominaciju.

Nije, realno, ni imala za što. Naravno, Waltz je dobar glumac i nije odigrao nijednu lošu ulogu, no odveć brzo je upao u glumačku maniru i šablonu ("Velike oči", "Spectre", "Legenda o Tarzanu", "Tulipanska groznica"...). Filmovi su možda bili žanrovski i svakojako drukčiji, a on u njima mahom isti.

Izuzetak od "waltzovskog" Waltza glumac je u proteklih desetak godina napravio takoreći samo dvaput, s odličnim, netipičnim ulogama u filmovima "Mali veliki svijet" Alexandera Paynea i "Alita, anđeo borbe" Roberta Rodrigueza. Nažalost, izuzetak se nije dogodio u njegovom redateljskom prvijencu "Zločin iz Georgetowna" u kojem je glavnu "waltzovsku" ulogu dodijelio samome sebi.

Ovo je možda i naj-waltzovskija "waltzovska" uloga uopće. On glumi Ulricha Motta, tipa inspiriranog stvarnim čovjekom, antagonistom članka “The "Worst Marriage in Georgetown" ("Najgori brak u Georgetownu") novinara Franklina Foera objavljenom u "New York Timesu" 2012., iste godine kad je u kinima igrao "Django Unchained".

Članak je opisao slučaj čovjeka uhićenog za umorstvo svoje 91-godišnje supruge novinarke preko koje je ušao u elitno političko društvo Washingtona (od senatora nadalje...) i proširio pipke. U izvedbi Waltza, Mott je sociopat, žigolo, patološki lažljivac, grebator koji će napraviti sve što je u njegovoj moći da se popenje stepenicu više na društvenoj ljestvici.

Mott će oženiti "kraljicu Georgetown društva", 30 godina stariju bogatu novinarku Elsu (Vanessa Redgrave), na neodobrenje njezine kćerke, harvardske profesorice Amande (Annette Bening), koja u njemu ne vidi "mladog i zanimljivog" tipa, niti vjeruje majci da "ima potencijala".

Zaplet se zahuktava kad nesretna starica jedne večeri, nakon svečane večere za političke uzvanike u njihovoj kući, bude pronađena mrtva, a dok policija ispituje slučaj, u "flashbackovima" se otkriva njezin odnos s Mottom i, uopće, kakav je on kao lik.

Mudro, Waltz se ograđuje od stvarne priče uvodnim proglasom kako film ne tvrdi da je istinit, što mu omogućava da žanrovski intrigantno, ali neravnomjerno šara od crne komedije/društveno-političke satire na računameričih političara i "social climbera" poput Motta, preko detektivskog "mystery" trilera a la Agatha Christie, do proceduralne sudske drame.

Kao filmaš Waltz pokazuje određeni potencijal i redateljsku intuiciju, jer ipak je radio s mnogim velikanima, od Tarantina do Romana Polanskog ("Bračne svađe") i Terryja Gilliama ("Nulti teorem"), ali gubi konce u narativno i žanrovski prenatrpanoj šaradi. Negdje oko polovice filma se čini kao da je postao svjestan da je zagrizao preveliki zalogaj, prepustivši uzde showa Waltzu glumcu umjesto da ga zauzda. Waltz glumac je iskoristio priliku i zaplesao "waltzovski" valcer sa samim sobom.

Austrijanac Christoph Waltz uletio je na filmsku scenu kao veliki glumac kad se pojavio u "Nemilosrdnim gadovima" Quentina Tarantina u ulozi slatkorječivog i blagoglagoljivog na(r)cističkog pukovnika Hansa Lande, osvojivši publiku i kritiku od prve do posljednje scene.

Djelovao je kao iznimno osvježenje u svijetu filma i glumio poput povjetarca, s nevjerojatnom lakoćom glumačkog postojanja. Zlatni kipić za sporednu mušku ulogu na dodjeli Oscara 2010. godine otišao je u prave ruke. Međutim, pokazat će se da Waltz u nadolazećim ulogama radi varijacije na lik Lande mijenjajući polove svojih karaktera, od negativca do pozitivca.

Dobio je drugog Oscara tri godine poslije, 2013., za prilično sličnu izvedbu u također Tarantinovu "Oslobođenom Djangu", samo što je dr. King Schultz bio "good guy", ali čini se da ga je američka Akademija prozrijela i otad naovamo više nije dobio nijednu nominaciju.

Nije, realno, ni imala za što. Naravno, Waltz je dobar glumac i nije odigrao nijednu lošu ulogu, no odveć brzo je upao u glumačku maniru i šablonu ("Velike oči", "Spectre", "Legenda o Tarzanu", "Tulipanska groznica"...). Filmovi su možda bili žanrovski i svakojako drukčiji, a on u njima mahom isti.

Izuzetak od "waltzovskog" Waltza glumac je u proteklih desetak godina napravio takoreći samo dvaput, s odličnim, netipičnim ulogama u filmovima "Mali veliki svijet" Alexandera Paynea i "Alita, anđeo borbe" Roberta Rodrigueza. Nažalost, izuzetak se nije dogodio u njegovom redateljskom prvijencu "Zločin iz Georgetowna" u kojem je glavnu "waltzovsku" ulogu dodijelio samome sebi.

Ovo je možda i naj-waltzovskija "waltzovska" uloga uopće. On glumi Ulricha Motta, tipa inspiriranog stvarnim čovjekom, antagonistom članka “The "Worst Marriage in Georgetown" ("Najgori brak u Georgetownu") novinara Franklina Foera objavljenom u "New York Timesu" 2012., iste godine kad je u kinima igrao "Django Unchained".

Članak je opisao slučaj čovjeka uhićenog za umorstvo svoje 91-godišnje supruge novinarke preko koje je ušao u elitno političko društvo Washingtona (od senatora nadalje...) i proširio pipke. U izvedbi Waltza, Mott je sociopat, žigolo, patološki lažljivac, grebator koji će napraviti sve što je u njegovoj moći da se popenje stepenicu više na društvenoj ljestvici.

Mott će oženiti "kraljicu Georgetown društva", 30 godina stariju bogatu novinarku Elsu (Vanessa Redgrave), na neodobrenje njezine kćerke, harvardske profesorice Amande (Annette Bening), koja u njemu ne vidi "mladog i zanimljivog" tipa, niti vjeruje majci da "ima potencijala".

Zaplet se zahuktava kad nesretna starica jedne večeri, nakon svečane večere za političke uzvanike u njihovoj kući, bude pronađena mrtva, a dok policija ispituje slučaj, u "flashbackovima" se otkriva njezin odnos s Mottom i, uopće, kakav je on kao lik.

Mudro, Waltz se ograđuje od stvarne priče uvodnim proglasom kako film ne tvrdi da je istinit, što mu omogućava da žanrovski intrigantno, ali neravnomjerno šara od crne komedije/društveno-političke satire na računameričih političara i "social climbera" poput Motta, preko detektivskog "mystery" trilera a la Agatha Christie, do proceduralne sudske drame.

Kao filmaš Waltz pokazuje određeni potencijal i redateljsku intuiciju, jer ipak je radio s mnogim velikanima, od Tarantina do Romana Polanskog ("Bračne svađe") i Terryja Gilliama ("Nulti teorem"), ali gubi konce u narativno i žanrovski prenatrpanoj šaradi. Negdje oko polovice filma se čini kao da je postao svjestan da je zagrizao preveliki zalogaj, prepustivši uzde showa Waltzu glumcu umjesto da ga zauzda. Waltz glumac je iskoristio priliku i zaplesao "waltzovski" valcer sa samim sobom.
