Osamdeset i dvije minute novog, sedamnaestog po redu albuma Iron Maidena zapravo su najbolji odgovor britanskih heavy-metal klasika na sve učestalije rasprave o tome ima li izdavanje albuma uopće više smisla.
Jer danas ionako više nitko ne sluša nečiju glazbu "u komadu", svi parcijalno skidaju s interneta što im se svidi, kontekst nikoga ne zanima, a CD-ove i vinile kupuju tek najveći fanovi...
Točno, ali ako se zovete Iron Maiden, onda tih fanova ima poprilično, po cijelom svijetu, pa i u Hrvatskoj, u kojoj su Bruce Dickinson, Steve Harris i ekipa tradicionalno rado viđeni gosti.

Koronavirus je otkazao zagrebački koncert planiran za lipanj ove godine, u Areni, gdje su "prašili" i u srpnju 2018. godine. Split su zadnji put posjetili 2016. u sklopu turneje “The Book of Souls”, a ukupno su u Lijepoj našoj svirali čak šest puta.
Iako Dickinson iza sebe ima bitku s karcinomom, vjerujemo da ćemo "Senjutsu" (japanski – strategija) moći uživo čuti i u Splitu ili Zagrebu.
Sedamnaesti po redu studijski uradak Maidena – gotovo šest godina od izdavanja prethodnog nosača zvuka - nastao je u Parizu, u Guillaume Tell studiju, inače nekadašnjem kinu, još u prvom dijelu 2019., za vrijeme stanke svjetske "Legacy..." turneje.
Međutim, njegovo je izdavanje poremetila pandemija. Na koncu je objavljen kao dvostruki CD i trostruko vinil-izdanje. Jasno, sve pjesme možete preslušati i na YouTubeu.

Reakcije su očekivano podijeljene: za jedne je ovo novi biser djedica metala, drugi kažu da album zvuči kao "Greatest Hits" izbor pjesama iz najgoreg razdoblja Maidena, da su pjesme preduge, da "nema intra kraćeg od minute, dok tri traju preko dvije"...
Naravno, oni najokorjeliji su žučno polemizirali i o pretvaranju maskote benda Eddieja u samuraja na koricama albuma, ali to je zanimljivo otprilike koliko i internetske svađe na temu je li bolji Grbin ili Bernardić, Škoro ili Penava...
Neosporno je da godine čine svoje – veterani žestokog zvuka su malo usporili, a i Dickinson je, iako godinama neprikosnoveni vladar visokih tonova, ponešto izgubio na voluminoznosti vokala, iako ćete u 10 novih pjesama čuti sve elemente "maidenesque" poetike na koju ste navikli.
Tu su i karakteristične solaže (treba iznaći prostora za trojicu gitarista!), praskavi bas, melodiozni refreni, često pompozni i gordi, ali nikad i patetični, zatim promjene ritma - od ugođaja balade do "marširanja" - zbog kojih često imate dojam "pjesme u pjesmi" – sve to doprinosi da se "Senjutsu" doima kao zaokružena cjelina, u kojoj svaki dio ima svoju logiku.
Danas, kad ima toliko bržih bendova, Maideni i ne pokušavaju voditi pubertetsku bitku na temu "tko je veći metalac", odnosno, "tko je žešći ili brži". A prežestoki pak mogu biti samo nekome tko je glazbu prestao pratiti negdje krajem osamdesetih...

Legendarna šestorka, očito neopterećena žanrovskim okvirima (to se najbolje vidi u "Writing On The Wall” i pogotovo u “Lost In A Lost World”, čiji intro priziva duh Pink Floyda), još uvijek inventivno nadograđuje svoju prepoznatljivu glazbenu priču i ne živi na staroj slavi.
Istina, tu i tamo, možda i nesvjesno, variraju neke prethodne motive ili rifove, ali sve i uz poneku novinu, da ne kažemo eksperiment, u zvučnoj slici.
Tako da, čak i uz neizbježnu pomisao kako sluša stare "metalce", i neopterećeni slušatelj na koncu može zaključiti da je odslušao – dobro osmišljen i odlično producirani album. S puno dobre glazbe. A to je, na kraju dana, jedino važno, ma kojem žanru pripadali.

Jesu li Maideni "izdali metal" irelevantne su, birtijaške rasprave koje ćemo prepustiti onima koje jako smeta pretvaranje Eddieja u samuraja ili se jako žeste na temu raskola u SDP-u i Domovinskom pokretu. To je otprilike ta razina...
Još samo da dočekamo novo hrvatsko gostovanje. Do tada, imajte na umu da će nam, u nastavku "Legacy Of The Beast" turneje iduće godine, najbliže biti u Češkoj (20. lipnja svirat će u Pragu), odnosno Italiji (7. srpnja nastupaju u Bologni) i Austriji (10. srpnja bi trebali biti u Beču).

Osamdeset i dvije minute novog, sedamnaestog po redu albuma Iron Maidena zapravo su najbolji odgovor britanskih heavy-metal klasika na sve učestalije rasprave o tome ima li izdavanje albuma uopće više smisla.
Jer danas ionako više nitko ne sluša nečiju glazbu "u komadu", svi parcijalno skidaju s interneta što im se svidi, kontekst nikoga ne zanima, a CD-ove i vinile kupuju tek najveći fanovi...
Točno, ali ako se zovete Iron Maiden, onda tih fanova ima poprilično, po cijelom svijetu, pa i u Hrvatskoj, u kojoj su Bruce Dickinson, Steve Harris i ekipa tradicionalno rado viđeni gosti.

Koronavirus je otkazao zagrebački koncert planiran za lipanj ove godine, u Areni, gdje su "prašili" i u srpnju 2018. godine. Split su zadnji put posjetili 2016. u sklopu turneje “The Book of Souls”, a ukupno su u Lijepoj našoj svirali čak šest puta.
Iako Dickinson iza sebe ima bitku s karcinomom, vjerujemo da ćemo "Senjutsu" (japanski – strategija) moći uživo čuti i u Splitu ili Zagrebu.
Sedamnaesti po redu studijski uradak Maidena – gotovo šest godina od izdavanja prethodnog nosača zvuka - nastao je u Parizu, u Guillaume Tell studiju, inače nekadašnjem kinu, još u prvom dijelu 2019., za vrijeme stanke svjetske "Legacy..." turneje.
Međutim, njegovo je izdavanje poremetila pandemija. Na koncu je objavljen kao dvostruki CD i trostruko vinil-izdanje. Jasno, sve pjesme možete preslušati i na YouTubeu.

Reakcije su očekivano podijeljene: za jedne je ovo novi biser djedica metala, drugi kažu da album zvuči kao "Greatest Hits" izbor pjesama iz najgoreg razdoblja Maidena, da su pjesme preduge, da "nema intra kraćeg od minute, dok tri traju preko dvije"...
Naravno, oni najokorjeliji su žučno polemizirali i o pretvaranju maskote benda Eddieja u samuraja na koricama albuma, ali to je zanimljivo otprilike koliko i internetske svađe na temu je li bolji Grbin ili Bernardić, Škoro ili Penava...
Neosporno je da godine čine svoje – veterani žestokog zvuka su malo usporili, a i Dickinson je, iako godinama neprikosnoveni vladar visokih tonova, ponešto izgubio na voluminoznosti vokala, iako ćete u 10 novih pjesama čuti sve elemente "maidenesque" poetike na koju ste navikli.
Tu su i karakteristične solaže (treba iznaći prostora za trojicu gitarista!), praskavi bas, melodiozni refreni, često pompozni i gordi, ali nikad i patetični, zatim promjene ritma - od ugođaja balade do "marširanja" - zbog kojih često imate dojam "pjesme u pjesmi" – sve to doprinosi da se "Senjutsu" doima kao zaokružena cjelina, u kojoj svaki dio ima svoju logiku.
Danas, kad ima toliko bržih bendova, Maideni i ne pokušavaju voditi pubertetsku bitku na temu "tko je veći metalac", odnosno, "tko je žešći ili brži". A prežestoki pak mogu biti samo nekome tko je glazbu prestao pratiti negdje krajem osamdesetih...

Legendarna šestorka, očito neopterećena žanrovskim okvirima (to se najbolje vidi u "Writing On The Wall” i pogotovo u “Lost In A Lost World”, čiji intro priziva duh Pink Floyda), još uvijek inventivno nadograđuje svoju prepoznatljivu glazbenu priču i ne živi na staroj slavi.
Istina, tu i tamo, možda i nesvjesno, variraju neke prethodne motive ili rifove, ali sve i uz poneku novinu, da ne kažemo eksperiment, u zvučnoj slici.
Tako da, čak i uz neizbježnu pomisao kako sluša stare "metalce", i neopterećeni slušatelj na koncu može zaključiti da je odslušao – dobro osmišljen i odlično producirani album. S puno dobre glazbe. A to je, na kraju dana, jedino važno, ma kojem žanru pripadali.

Još samo da dočekamo novo hrvatsko gostovanje. Do tada, imajte na umu da će nam, u nastavku "Legacy Of The Beast" turneje iduće godine, najbliže biti u Češkoj (20. lipnja svirat će u Pragu), odnosno Italiji (7. srpnja nastupaju u Bologni) i Austriji (10. srpnja bi trebali biti u Beču).
