Etgara Kereta obično se predstavlja kao a) iznimno duhovitog i b) izraelskog pisca. Obje tvrdnje su, naravno, istinite. On je jedan od najvećih meštara književnog humorizma našega vremena.

A da je Izraelac, to ne potvrđuje samo uvid u njegove osobne isprave, nego i uvid u spisak tema, motiva, odnosno prostora kojima se bavi. Pa opet, teško mi se oteti dojmu da obje te tvrdnje zamagljuju pravu sliku o Etgaru Keretu, umjesto da je izoštravaju.

Onaj tko nije pročitao nijednu njegovu priču mogao bi pomisliti da se radi o još jednom neurotičnom Židovu koji nasmijava publiku sočnim i paprenim dosjetkama u kojima se izruguje prvo samome sebi, a onda i svima ostalima, ne štedeći pritom svetinje i fetiše kulture u kojoj je formatiran.

Keret to, naravno, čini, ali niti je pisac samo jednoga registra, niti je humor ono presudno svojstvo koje ga razlikuje od drugih autora. Da, njegove junake izjeda proturječje u kojemu su zapeli, željeli bi udovoljiti očekivanjima sredine i čestito odigrati uloge koje su im "zapisane“, ali ma koliko god se trudili, u tome nikako ne uspijevaju.

Sraz društveno nametnutog "moranja“ i iznuđenog odustajanja u srži je mnogih beskrajno smiješnih situacija, što je neka vrsta općeg mjesta židovskog (i ne samo židovskog) humora.

Kad tome dodamo i neizbježno bavljenje političkim kontroverzama - jer nisam siguran da je uopće moguće biti Izraelcem, a graditi se nezainteresiranim za činjenicu da se tamo i dalje živi pod stalnom, barem tinjajućom prijetnjom rata – Kereta je lako zamisliti kao fotorobota cijeloga jednog ceha s oznakom kontrolirana porijekla.

Neusporedivo puknut

Pa ipak, svakom njegovom sljedećom knjigom sve više ga doživljavam kao pisca kojemu talent blistavog humorista i satiričara zaokupljenog prošlim i friškim traumama izraelskoga društva nije autorski forte.

Čini mi se, naime, da bismo bili kudikamo pošteniji prema Etgaru Keretu kad bismo ga predstavljali kao pripovjedača dirljivih storija koje se pretežno bave disfunkcionalnim obiteljima, odnosno samoćom kao njihovom posljedicom.

"Kvar na rubu galaksije“ (knjigu je s hebrejskog prevela Laila Šprajc) u tom je smislu vrlo ilustrativan. Ova zbirka nije mogla proći bez Keretu tako dragih podbadanja na račun hipertrofiranih patriota, osobito njihova sladostrasnog uživanja u moralnoj nadmoći koju donosi okamenjena, navijeke fiksirana pozicija žrtve.

Svaka stranica ovoga libra natopljena je unikatnim humorom koji je, naravno, crn, jer drukčiji ne može ni biti ako se želi "o istome trošku“ nasmijavati i osvješćivati čitatelje. Dokumentarizam i apsurd ovdje su najbliža svojta, pa skoro svaka priča slobodno bordiža na širokome potezu od drame do farse i natrag.

Ali prije i poslije svega Keret je zaokupljen ljudima kojima ili nije do šale ili se smijehom samo pokušavaju obraniti. Ton i duh piščeva razumijevanja svijeta lijepo ilustrira sljedeći pasus: "Život je poput niskog i ružnog stola koji su prijašnji stanari ostavili u dnevnom boravku.

Većinu vremena ga ne primjećuješ, znaš da je ondje, oprezan si, no ponekad to smetneš s uma pa onda cjevanicu ili koljeno nabiješ o njegov šiljati ugao, a to boli.“

Brakovi njegovih junaka već su razmrvljeni u prah ili su na dobrome putu da im se to dogodi, s djecom ne uspijevaju ostvariti ni elementarnu komunikaciju, napušteni su i usamljeni.

O njihovim životima bilo bi nam nepodnošljivo čitati da Keret nije lud kao puška pa u svakoj priči podmetne nevjerojatni luping. No, autora kao da grize savjest što svoje likove izlaže egzistencijalnom štrapaciranju.

"Zašto sam izmislio sve te ljude? Zašto sam ubio pobožnog čovjeka koji mi ništa nije skrivio? (...) To što nekoga izmisliš ne razrješava te odgovornosti za njega i, za razliku od života, u kojem možeš slegnuti ramenima i pokazati u nebo, ovdje nema izgovora. Ti si nebo.

Ako je tvoj junak neuspješan, to je samo zato što si ga ti učinio neuspješnim.“ Ne pamtim da sam se ikad susreo sa sličnom ispovijedi pisca koji se stidi vlastite imaginacije, jer je uvjeren da za sobom ostavlja žrtve koje nisu manje vrijedne pijeteta samo zato što nisu stvarne.

Da, Etgar Keret klaun je i spadalo, besraman i opak, drzak i oštar, ali je i jedan od najtoplijih autora našega vremena, čovjek koji o samoći piše tako da je kadar rasplakati čitatelje, svejedno je li to zbog žalosti ili zbog smijeha. K tome je i osoba tako slatko i neusporedivo puknuta da nitko živ nije kadar pogoditi kamo će nas odvesti sljedećom rečenicom.

Etgara Kereta obično se predstavlja kao a) iznimno duhovitog i b) izraelskog pisca. Obje tvrdnje su, naravno, istinite. On je jedan od najvećih meštara književnog humorizma našega vremena.

A da je Izraelac, to ne potvrđuje samo uvid u njegove osobne isprave, nego i uvid u spisak tema, motiva, odnosno prostora kojima se bavi. Pa opet, teško mi se oteti dojmu da obje te tvrdnje zamagljuju pravu sliku o Etgaru Keretu, umjesto da je izoštravaju.

Onaj tko nije pročitao nijednu njegovu priču mogao bi pomisliti da se radi o još jednom neurotičnom Židovu koji nasmijava publiku sočnim i paprenim dosjetkama u kojima se izruguje prvo samome sebi, a onda i svima ostalima, ne štedeći pritom svetinje i fetiše kulture u kojoj je formatiran.

Keret to, naravno, čini, ali niti je pisac samo jednoga registra, niti je humor ono presudno svojstvo koje ga razlikuje od drugih autora. Da, njegove junake izjeda proturječje u kojemu su zapeli, željeli bi udovoljiti očekivanjima sredine i čestito odigrati uloge koje su im "zapisane“, ali ma koliko god se trudili, u tome nikako ne uspijevaju.

Sraz društveno nametnutog "moranja“ i iznuđenog odustajanja u srži je mnogih beskrajno smiješnih situacija, što je neka vrsta općeg mjesta židovskog (i ne samo židovskog) humora.

Kad tome dodamo i neizbježno bavljenje političkim kontroverzama - jer nisam siguran da je uopće moguće biti Izraelcem, a graditi se nezainteresiranim za činjenicu da se tamo i dalje živi pod stalnom, barem tinjajućom prijetnjom rata – Kereta je lako zamisliti kao fotorobota cijeloga jednog ceha s oznakom kontrolirana porijekla.

Neusporedivo puknut

Pa ipak, svakom njegovom sljedećom knjigom sve više ga doživljavam kao pisca kojemu talent blistavog humorista i satiričara zaokupljenog prošlim i friškim traumama izraelskoga društva nije autorski forte.

Čini mi se, naime, da bismo bili kudikamo pošteniji prema Etgaru Keretu kad bismo ga predstavljali kao pripovjedača dirljivih storija koje se pretežno bave disfunkcionalnim obiteljima, odnosno samoćom kao njihovom posljedicom.

"Kvar na rubu galaksije“ (knjigu je s hebrejskog prevela Laila Šprajc) u tom je smislu vrlo ilustrativan. Ova zbirka nije mogla proći bez Keretu tako dragih podbadanja na račun hipertrofiranih patriota, osobito njihova sladostrasnog uživanja u moralnoj nadmoći koju donosi okamenjena, navijeke fiksirana pozicija žrtve.

Svaka stranica ovoga libra natopljena je unikatnim humorom koji je, naravno, crn, jer drukčiji ne može ni biti ako se želi "o istome trošku“ nasmijavati i osvješćivati čitatelje. Dokumentarizam i apsurd ovdje su najbliža svojta, pa skoro svaka priča slobodno bordiža na širokome potezu od drame do farse i natrag.

Ali prije i poslije svega Keret je zaokupljen ljudima kojima ili nije do šale ili se smijehom samo pokušavaju obraniti. Ton i duh piščeva razumijevanja svijeta lijepo ilustrira sljedeći pasus: "Život je poput niskog i ružnog stola koji su prijašnji stanari ostavili u dnevnom boravku.

Većinu vremena ga ne primjećuješ, znaš da je ondje, oprezan si, no ponekad to smetneš s uma pa onda cjevanicu ili koljeno nabiješ o njegov šiljati ugao, a to boli.“

Brakovi njegovih junaka već su razmrvljeni u prah ili su na dobrome putu da im se to dogodi, s djecom ne uspijevaju ostvariti ni elementarnu komunikaciju, napušteni su i usamljeni.

O njihovim životima bilo bi nam nepodnošljivo čitati da Keret nije lud kao puška pa u svakoj priči podmetne nevjerojatni luping. No, autora kao da grize savjest što svoje likove izlaže egzistencijalnom štrapaciranju.

"Zašto sam izmislio sve te ljude? Zašto sam ubio pobožnog čovjeka koji mi ništa nije skrivio? (...) To što nekoga izmisliš ne razrješava te odgovornosti za njega i, za razliku od života, u kojem možeš slegnuti ramenima i pokazati u nebo, ovdje nema izgovora. Ti si nebo.

Ako je tvoj junak neuspješan, to je samo zato što si ga ti učinio neuspješnim.“ Ne pamtim da sam se ikad susreo sa sličnom ispovijedi pisca koji se stidi vlastite imaginacije, jer je uvjeren da za sobom ostavlja žrtve koje nisu manje vrijedne pijeteta samo zato što nisu stvarne.

Da, Etgar Keret klaun je i spadalo, besraman i opak, drzak i oštar, ali je i jedan od najtoplijih autora našega vremena, čovjek koji o samoći piše tako da je kadar rasplakati čitatelje, svejedno je li to zbog žalosti ili zbog smijeha. K tome je i osoba tako slatko i neusporedivo puknuta da nitko živ nije kadar pogoditi kamo će nas odvesti sljedećom rečenicom.

Etgara Kereta obično se predstavlja kao a) iznimno duhovitog i b) izraelskog pisca. Obje tvrdnje su, naravno, istinite. On je jedan od najvećih meštara književnog humorizma našega vremena.

A da je Izraelac, to ne potvrđuje samo uvid u njegove osobne isprave, nego i uvid u spisak tema, motiva, odnosno prostora kojima se bavi. Pa opet, teško mi se oteti dojmu da obje te tvrdnje zamagljuju pravu sliku o Etgaru Keretu, umjesto da je izoštravaju.
