Svi sjevernjaci ovoga svijeta izruguju se razmaženim, zimogroznim južnjacima. Ne biste vjerovali, ali tako stoje stvari čak i na Islandu. Sa stajališta prosječnog stanovnika Siglufjörðura (a taj se toponim čita otprilike ovako: Siglue-fjoer-thur), ljudi iz Reykjavika su obični mlakonje. Iz mediteranske, pa još i ljetne perspektive, to podbadanje moglo bi se opisati starom frazom "rugala se sova sjenici" (ili, još primjerenije, "rugao se frizer hladnjaku"), no, vjerujte na riječ, ljekovito je ovih dana, dok se Celzijusi propinju u nebo, čitati libar u kojemu je vrijeme dražesno pasje i beznadežno mrzlo.

Bolji poznavatelji prilika na tržištu nordijskih krimića vjerojatno slute o kojemu se autoru radi. Cijeli niz zanimljivih pisaca situirao je svoje priče u islandski glavni grad, no samo je jedan, Ragnar Jónasson, izabrao malešni Siglufjörður kao pozornicu radnje čitave serije detektivskih romana. Ovo je već treći libar na našemu jeziku (kao i prethodne dvije, i ovu je knjigu s engleskog prevela Zrinka Pavlić) pisca kojemu je literatura tek četvrto ili peto zanimanje. Jónasson je, naime, odvjetnik, investicijski bankar, sveučilišni profesor i prevoditelj, pa tek onda vrlo uspješni autor desetak krimića koji su do danas objavljeni u tridesetak zemalja.

Svoj uspjeh on ima zahvaliti činjenici što značajno odudara od izravne konkurencije, a tu mislim prije svega na druge pisce iz niše nordijskih krimića. Za početak, on nije sladostrasno zauzet potankom elaboracijom svirepih izopačenosti, kao većina Skandinavaca. Njemu truplo treba kao dramski zamašnjak, a ne kao zahvalan motiv na kojemu će se iživljavati prestravljujući usput čitatelje.

NOVINARKA ISTRAŽUJE

Puno više negoli tradiciji podneblja kojemu i sam pripada, on duguje bogatoj baštini klasičnog engleskog whodunita. Nikakvo čudo, jer ipak se radi o čovjeku koji je preveo ukupno četrnaest knjiga Agathe Christie. No, njegova vjernost konzervativnoj školi enigmatskih krimića nije bezuvjetna. On se rado i često ogrješuje o njezine konvencije, slobodno ih križajući s mnogim drugim utjecajima. Jónasson je pisac koji, očito, hrabro preuzima rizike. U prethodnome romanu "Zamračenje" režirao je nezabilježen eksperiment: ponudio nam je, naime, detektivsku storiju za čiji rasplet njegov glavni junak policajac Ari-Thór nije bio ni najmanje zaslužan, jer vlastite dionice romana nije potrošio na rješenje slučaja, nego istjerivanje privatnih demona. U friškoj "Napuklini" Jónasson, pak, izlaže dvije paralelne priče koje ni na koji način nisu povezane.

Jedna se događa u Reykjaviku, potpuno izvan zone ingerencija i interesa Arija-Thóra, a druga u Siglufjörðuru. U glavnom gradu netko je oteo djevojčicu i pregazio starog prijatelja islandskog premijera. Tim se slučajevima bavi lokalna policija, a privatnu istragu vodi novinarka Isrun koju smo upoznali u drugom romanu iz serijala. Ona će, k tome, na daljinu surađivati s Arijem-Thórom u njegovome pokušaju da riješi pedeset godina star misterij. Dvije priče razbacane u prostoru i vremenu nijednom se neće preplesti, povezat će ih – i to ne naročito čvrsto – samo Isrun. Premda se na prvi pogled radi o razmjerno ozbiljnome prekršaju, libar na neku čudnu foru besprijekorno funkcionira.

NESAVRŠENI LJUDI

K tome, Jónasson ovoga puta otvoreno koketira s tradicijom hard-boiled krimića uvodeći (i razrađujući) motiv zavjere iza koje stoji jedna frakcija vladajuće stranke koja beskrupulozno gura svog kandidata ne birajući pritom sredstva. Očito je da se čak i u relativno harmoničnom društvu kao što je islandsko talože političke frustracije koje onda mogu dobiti ovakvu literarnu formu. Koliko je takav zaplet realan, zapravo nije niti važno. Jedino što se računa jest njegova književna uvjerljivost, a Jónasson zna kako čitatelju "prodati" zaplet i uvući ga u priču.

Ključno je da svi njegovi likovi, pozitivci i negativci, glavni i sporedni, budu nesavršeni, ranjivi ljudi s problemima koje teško ili krivo rješavaju. Sav njegov ansambl (anti)junaka obilježen je manjim ili većim nevoljama i teškoćama s kojima se ne znaju, barem ne u cijelosti, nositi. Jónasson nije cinik koji moral doživljava kao elastičnu vrpcu, pa ležerno rasteže granice prihvatljivog i dopuštenog, ali on vrlo dobro zna kako svatko od nas ima barem dva lica. Zato kod njega negativci nisu modelski šljam bez zrnca čovječnosti, niti su pozitivci čeljad kojoj manjka samo svetačka aureola. Zato se, na koncu, njegove knjige čitaju uživljeno i s velikim guštom.

Svi sjevernjaci ovoga svijeta izruguju se razmaženim, zimogroznim južnjacima. Ne biste vjerovali, ali tako stoje stvari čak i na Islandu. Sa stajališta prosječnog stanovnika Siglufjörðura (a taj se toponim čita otprilike ovako: Siglue-fjoer-thur), ljudi iz Reykjavika su obični mlakonje. Iz mediteranske, pa još i ljetne perspektive, to podbadanje moglo bi se opisati starom frazom "rugala se sova sjenici" (ili, još primjerenije, "rugao se frizer hladnjaku"), no, vjerujte na riječ, ljekovito je ovih dana, dok se Celzijusi propinju u nebo, čitati libar u kojemu je vrijeme dražesno pasje i beznadežno mrzlo.

Bolji poznavatelji prilika na tržištu nordijskih krimića vjerojatno slute o kojemu se autoru radi. Cijeli niz zanimljivih pisaca situirao je svoje priče u islandski glavni grad, no samo je jedan, Ragnar Jónasson, izabrao malešni Siglufjörður kao pozornicu radnje čitave serije detektivskih romana. Ovo je već treći libar na našemu jeziku (kao i prethodne dvije, i ovu je knjigu s engleskog prevela Zrinka Pavlić) pisca kojemu je literatura tek četvrto ili peto zanimanje. Jónasson je, naime, odvjetnik, investicijski bankar, sveučilišni profesor i prevoditelj, pa tek onda vrlo uspješni autor desetak krimića koji su do danas objavljeni u tridesetak zemalja.

Svoj uspjeh on ima zahvaliti činjenici što značajno odudara od izravne konkurencije, a tu mislim prije svega na druge pisce iz niše nordijskih krimića. Za početak, on nije sladostrasno zauzet potankom elaboracijom svirepih izopačenosti, kao većina Skandinavaca. Njemu truplo treba kao dramski zamašnjak, a ne kao zahvalan motiv na kojemu će se iživljavati prestravljujući usput čitatelje.

NOVINARKA ISTRAŽUJE

Puno više negoli tradiciji podneblja kojemu i sam pripada, on duguje bogatoj baštini klasičnog engleskog whodunita. Nikakvo čudo, jer ipak se radi o čovjeku koji je preveo ukupno četrnaest knjiga Agathe Christie. No, njegova vjernost konzervativnoj školi enigmatskih krimića nije bezuvjetna. On se rado i često ogrješuje o njezine konvencije, slobodno ih križajući s mnogim drugim utjecajima. Jónasson je pisac koji, očito, hrabro preuzima rizike. U prethodnome romanu "Zamračenje" režirao je nezabilježen eksperiment: ponudio nam je, naime, detektivsku storiju za čiji rasplet njegov glavni junak policajac Ari-Thór nije bio ni najmanje zaslužan, jer vlastite dionice romana nije potrošio na rješenje slučaja, nego istjerivanje privatnih demona. U friškoj "Napuklini" Jónasson, pak, izlaže dvije paralelne priče koje ni na koji način nisu povezane.

Jedna se događa u Reykjaviku, potpuno izvan zone ingerencija i interesa Arija-Thóra, a druga u Siglufjörðuru. U glavnom gradu netko je oteo djevojčicu i pregazio starog prijatelja islandskog premijera. Tim se slučajevima bavi lokalna policija, a privatnu istragu vodi novinarka Isrun koju smo upoznali u drugom romanu iz serijala. Ona će, k tome, na daljinu surađivati s Arijem-Thórom u njegovome pokušaju da riješi pedeset godina star misterij. Dvije priče razbacane u prostoru i vremenu nijednom se neće preplesti, povezat će ih – i to ne naročito čvrsto – samo Isrun. Premda se na prvi pogled radi o razmjerno ozbiljnome prekršaju, libar na neku čudnu foru besprijekorno funkcionira.

NESAVRŠENI LJUDI

K tome, Jónasson ovoga puta otvoreno koketira s tradicijom hard-boiled krimića uvodeći (i razrađujući) motiv zavjere iza koje stoji jedna frakcija vladajuće stranke koja beskrupulozno gura svog kandidata ne birajući pritom sredstva. Očito je da se čak i u relativno harmoničnom društvu kao što je islandsko talože političke frustracije koje onda mogu dobiti ovakvu literarnu formu. Koliko je takav zaplet realan, zapravo nije niti važno. Jedino što se računa jest njegova književna uvjerljivost, a Jónasson zna kako čitatelju "prodati" zaplet i uvući ga u priču.

Ključno je da svi njegovi likovi, pozitivci i negativci, glavni i sporedni, budu nesavršeni, ranjivi ljudi s problemima koje teško ili krivo rješavaju. Sav njegov ansambl (anti)junaka obilježen je manjim ili većim nevoljama i teškoćama s kojima se ne znaju, barem ne u cijelosti, nositi. Jónasson nije cinik koji moral doživljava kao elastičnu vrpcu, pa ležerno rasteže granice prihvatljivog i dopuštenog, ali on vrlo dobro zna kako svatko od nas ima barem dva lica. Zato kod njega negativci nisu modelski šljam bez zrnca čovječnosti, niti su pozitivci čeljad kojoj manjka samo svetačka aureola. Zato se, na koncu, njegove knjige čitaju uživljeno i s velikim guštom.

Svi sjevernjaci ovoga svijeta izruguju se razmaženim, zimogroznim južnjacima. Ne biste vjerovali, ali tako stoje stvari čak i na Islandu. Sa stajališta prosječnog stanovnika Siglufjörðura (a taj se toponim čita otprilike ovako: Siglue-fjoer-thur), ljudi iz Reykjavika su obični mlakonje. Iz mediteranske, pa još i ljetne perspektive, to podbadanje moglo bi se opisati starom frazom "rugala se sova sjenici" (ili, još primjerenije, "rugao se frizer hladnjaku"), no, vjerujte na riječ, ljekovito je ovih dana, dok se Celzijusi propinju u nebo, čitati libar u kojemu je vrijeme dražesno pasje i beznadežno mrzlo.
