Gospodarenje otpadom jedan je od ključnih ekoloških problema današnjice koji zahtijeva korjenite promjene na globalnoj razini. Većina otpada u domaćinstvu nastaje u kuhinji što nije samo štetno za okoliš nego i kućni budžet. Ponekad savjeti za smanjenje otpada znaju biti rigorozni, ali prava istina je, kako kaže ekološka aktivistica Anne-Marie Bonneau, da svijetu ne treba šačica ljudi koja savršeno provodi reduciranje otpada na nulu, već milijuni ljudi koji to rade nesavršeno. SVE POČINJE PRILIKOM KUPNJE NAMIRNICA
Brz raspored tjera mnoge da u dućan odlaze rijetko i tada neplanski kupuju velike količine hrane. Takvim sustavom dio namirnica se pokvari prije nego što se stigne iskoristiti, propada i završava u smeću. U SAD-u i Europi se godišnje baci dovoljno hrane da zadovolji potrebe velikog dijela gladnih ljudi u Trećem svijetu. Ako nas ova socijalna ni ekološka komponenta ne uznemirava, istraživanja su pokazala da se na taj način potroše milijarde dolara čime doprinosimo i sami svaki put kada ne obazirući se čistimo frižidere i police s pokvarenom hranom.
U velikoj nabavci možete kupovati namirnice koje imaju dulji rok trajanja: konzerve, trajna mlijeka, tjestenine i slično. Ostatak nabavljajte planski ovisno o dnevnim potrebama. Povrće i voće najčešće propada, posebno na velikim vrućinama. Ako možete pokušajte ga kupovati na tržnicama ili u dućanima koji posluju s lokalnim proizvođačima. Pomoći ćete domaćem biznisu i utjecati na proizvodnju CO2 koja raste prilikom prekooceanskih dostava hrane s drugih krajeva svijeta.
Malo pozornosti je potrebno da birate proizvode koji nemaju mnogo plastike, npr. kruh ili povrće koje nije umotano u celofan, a nakon kratkog vremena takve navike postaju rutina.

RIJEŠITE SE I “TRAJNE” PLASTIKE
Pohvalno je koristiti bilo što s pridjevom trajno, a većina takve plastike se može reciklirati, ali ona je ipak trošnija od silikonskih posuda zbog čega ih morate rijeđe mijenjati. U njima možete, bolje nego u plastici, čuvati hranu u frižideru sklonu propadanju, a kada vam prestanu biti potrebne mogu se saviti i tako zauzimaju manje prostora. Uz to su lagane, pa su zgodne i kao prijenosne posude za odnijeti ručak na posao.
NAĐITE NOVU SVRHU SVOME SMEĆU
Koliko god sve popularnije postajale ekološke teme čini se da su generacije koje o njima nisu uopće razmišljale djelovale više u skladu s pravilima koja sugeriraju. Začine, brašno, šećer i tjestenine pospremite u stare staklenke koje možete obojiti ili im staviti naljepnice s imenima.
ZAMIJENITE STANDARDNE DETERDŽENTE BIOLOŠKIMA
Većina kućanskih sredstava za čišćenje puna je kemikalija, od kojih su neke štetne za ljude i okoliš. Oni također mogu biti skupi. Umjesto da posegnete za prvom bocom na polici, napravite vlastiti "zeleni" čistač od sastojaka koje sigurno imate doma.
Univerzalno sredstvo za čišćenje dobit ćete jednostavno miješajući dvije šalice bijelog octa s dvije šalice vode. Držite ih u boci s raspršivačem za sljedeći put. Možete dodati i nekoliko kapi esencijalnih ulja da se riješite mirisa octa.

Gospodarenje otpadom jedan je od ključnih ekoloških problema današnjice koji zahtijeva korjenite promjene na globalnoj razini. Neophodno je da se apelira na vlast da mijenja politike u njegovom zbrinjavanju i uopće smanjenju proizvodnje plastike, ali s obzirom na to da se takvi pomaci odvijaju s velikim zakašnjenjem, na pojedincu ostaje odgovornost da djeluje samostalno u okviru vlastitih mogućnosti.
Većina otpada u domaćinstvu nastaje u kuhinji što nije samo štetno za okoliš nego i kućni budžet. Ponekad savjeti za smanjenje otpada znaju biti rigorozni, ali prava istina je, kako kaže ekološka aktivistica Anne-Marie Bonneau, da svijetu ne treba šačica ljudi koja savršeno provodi reduciranje otpada na nulu, već milijuni ljudi koji to rade nesavršeno. Upravo u tom tonu donosimo vam nekoliko savjeta.
SVE POČINJE PRILIKOM KUPNJE NAMIRNICA
Brz raspored tjera mnoge da u dućan odlaze rijetko i tada neplanski kupuju velike količine hrane. Takvim sustavom dio namirnica se pokvari prije nego što se stigne iskoristiti, propada i završava u smeću. U SAD-u i Europi se godišnje baci dovoljno hrane da zadovolji potrebe velikog dijela gladnih ljudi u Trećem svijetu. Ako nas ova socijalna ni ekološka komponenta ne uznemirava, istraživanja su pokazala da se na taj način potroše milijarde dolara čime doprinosimo i sami svaki put kada ne obazirući se čistimo frižidere i police s pokvarenom hranom.
U velikoj nabavci možete kupovati namirnice koje imaju dulji rok trajanja: konzerve, trajna mlijeka, tjestenine i slično. Ostatak nabavljajte planski ovisno o dnevnim potrebama. Povrće i voće najčešće propada, posebno na velikim vrućinama. Ako možete pokušajte ga kupovati na tržnicama ili u dućanima koji posluju s lokalnim proizvođačima. Pomoći ćete domaćem biznisu i utjecati na proizvodnju CO2 koja raste prilikom prekooceanskih dostava hrane s drugih krajeva svijeta.
Malo pozornosti je potrebno da birate proizvode koji nemaju mnogo plastike, npr. kruh ili povrće koje nije umotano u celofan, a nakon kratkog vremena takve navike postaju rutina.
U kupnju nosite vlastite vrećice, a namirnice koje iziskuju vaganje ne spremajte u male plastične, već direktno u košaru.

RIJEŠITE SE I “TRAJNE” PLASTIKE
Pohvalno je koristiti bilo što s pridjevom trajno, a većina takve plastike se može reciklirati, ali ona je ipak trošnija od silikonskih posuda zbog čega ih morate rijeđe mijenjati. U njima možete, bolje nego u plastici, čuvati hranu u frižideru sklonu propadanju, a kada vam prestanu biti potrebne mogu se saviti i tako zauzimaju manje prostora. Uz to su lagane, pa su zgodne i kao prijenosne posude za odnijeti ručak na posao.
NAĐITE NOVU SVRHU SVOME SMEĆU
Koliko god sve popularnije postajale ekološke teme čini se da su generacije koje o njima nisu uopće razmišljale djelovale više u skladu s pravilima koja sugeriraju. Iskorištene staklenke uvijek su nalazile novu svrhu u stanovima naših djedova i baka, “čašice” čokoladnih namaza kasnije su se najnormalnije koristile za malu djecu, a oni koji su živjeli na selu ili imali vikendice proizvodili su vlastiti kompost za biljke.
U neograničenoj ponudi kuhinjskih predmeta ponekad ne možemo odoljeti da stalno kupujemo nove, ali se trendovi mijenjaju pa sada postoji veliki broj tutoriala kako prenamijeniti iskorištena staklena pakiranja koja mogu izgledati i puno šarmantnije od generičkih noviteta iz lanaca dućana. Začine, brašno, šećer i tjestenine pospremite u stare staklenke koje možete obojiti ili im staviti naljepnice s imenima.
ZAMIJENITE STANDARDNE DETERDŽENTE BIOLOŠKIMA
Većina kućanskih sredstava za čišćenje puna je kemikalija, od kojih su neke štetne za ljude i okoliš. Oni također mogu biti skupi. Umjesto da posegnete za prvom bocom na polici, napravite vlastiti "zeleni" čistač od sastojaka koje sigurno imate doma.
Univerzalno sredstvo za čišćenje dobit ćete jednostavno miješajući dvije šalice bijelog octa s dvije šalice vode. Držite ih u boci s raspršivačem za sljedeći put. Možete dodati i nekoliko kapi esencijalnih ulja da se riješite mirisa octa.
U bio dućanima možete pronaći i gotova sredstva za čišćenje, kao i potrepštine za osobnu higijenu koje nemaju štetne sastojke i tako pomoći svojoj koži i planeti.
