Zločini tijekom Drugog svjetskog rata bili su tako velikih razmjera da iz današnje perspektive ne možemo ni zamisliti toliku količinu tragedije, piše National Geographic. 

Czeslawa Kwok bila je jedna od više od 100.000 Poljaka deportiranih iz svojih sela nakon njemačke invazije 1939. godine. 

Ti poljoprivrednici, većinom katolici, odvedeni su iz svojih domova kako bi napravili mjesta za Nijemce jer su nacisti planirali naseliti tu zemlju.

Vrlo malo se zna o životu Czeslawe Kwoke prije ovog trenutka uhvaćenog u fotografskom kadru.

Poznato je da je rođena u malom selu Volka Zlojecka na jugoistoku Poljske 15. kolovoza 1928. godine, a da su ona i njezina majka deportirane iz Zamošća u Poljskoj u Auschwitz 13. prosinca 1942. godine.

Za naciste je Czeslawa Kwok bio samo zatvorenica 26947.

Poznati po svojoj nemilosrdnosti, ali i po birokraciji, Nijemci su za svoje zapise fotografirali i katalogizirali zatvorenike koji su prolazili kroz logore smrti. Strah na Czeslawinom licu, koji se i danas može "osjetiti", nadživio je crno-bijelu fotografiju. Na njenom licu iščitaju se sve ratne strahote.

Četrnaestogodišnja djevojčica umrla je tri mjeseca nakon snimanja fotografije. Ne zna se je li umrla od teškog rada, iscrpljenosti i gladi, ili u sklopu nekog zastrašujućeg eksperimenta..

Zahvaljujući sjećanju fotografa Wilhelma Brassea, zna se što se dogodilo neposredno prije fotografiranja. Kao Poljak kojeg su nacisti deportirali u Auschwitz, Brasse je bio prisiljen fotografirati između 40.000 i 50.000 zatvorenika u logoru, uključujući Czeslawu. Prisjetio se, vrlo živo, kako je prestrašena djevojka bila predstavljena ostalima, nesposobna razumjeti ništa što se oko nje događa. 

Čuvarica u logoru i Njemica iskalila je svoj bijes na djevojčici.

- Tako lijepa mlada djevojka, tako nevina. Plakala je, ali nije mogla ništa učiniti. Prije fotografiranja je obrisala suze i krv s posjekotine na usnici. Iskreno da ti kažem, i ja sam se osjećao kao da je i mene netko udario, ali nisam se usudio miješati jer bi bilo kobno za mene, rekao je kasnije Brasse koji je rekao da su ga lica fotografiranih znala progoniti u snovima. 

Nije uspio sačuvati sve fotografije, ali neke od njih uspio je prenijeti u vječnost kako se horor tog razdoblja nikad ne bi zaboravio.

Zločini tijekom Drugog svjetskog rata bili su tako velikih razmjera da iz današnje perspektive ne možemo ni zamisliti toliku količinu tragedije, piše National Geographic. 

Czeslawa Kwok bila je jedna od više od 100.000 Poljaka deportiranih iz svojih sela nakon njemačke invazije 1939. godine. 

Ti poljoprivrednici, većinom katolici, odvedeni su iz svojih domova kako bi napravili mjesta za Nijemce jer su nacisti planirali naseliti tu zemlju.

Vrlo malo se zna o životu Czeslawe Kwoke prije ovog trenutka uhvaćenog u fotografskom kadru.

Poznato je da je rođena u malom selu Volka Zlojecka na jugoistoku Poljske 15. kolovoza 1928. godine, a da su ona i njezina majka deportirane iz Zamošća u Poljskoj u Auschwitz 13. prosinca 1942. godine.

Za naciste je Czeslawa Kwok bio samo zatvorenica 26947.

Poznati po svojoj nemilosrdnosti, ali i po birokraciji, Nijemci su za svoje zapise fotografirali i katalogizirali zatvorenike koji su prolazili kroz logore smrti. Strah na Czeslawinom licu, koji se i danas može "osjetiti", nadživio je crno-bijelu fotografiju. Na njenom licu iščitaju se sve ratne strahote.

Četrnaestogodišnja djevojčica umrla je tri mjeseca nakon snimanja fotografije. Ne zna se je li umrla od teškog rada, iscrpljenosti i gladi, ili u sklopu nekog zastrašujućeg eksperimenta..

Zahvaljujući sjećanju fotografa Wilhelma Brassea, zna se što se dogodilo neposredno prije fotografiranja. Kao Poljak kojeg su nacisti deportirali u Auschwitz, Brasse je bio prisiljen fotografirati između 40.000 i 50.000 zatvorenika u logoru, uključujući Czeslawu. Prisjetio se, vrlo živo, kako je prestrašena djevojka bila predstavljena ostalima, nesposobna razumjeti ništa što se oko nje događa. 

Čuvarica u logoru i Njemica iskalila je svoj bijes na djevojčici.

- Tako lijepa mlada djevojka, tako nevina. Plakala je, ali nije mogla ništa učiniti. Prije fotografiranja je obrisala suze i krv s posjekotine na usnici. Iskreno da ti kažem, i ja sam se osjećao kao da je i mene netko udario, ali nisam se usudio miješati jer bi bilo kobno za mene, rekao je kasnije Brasse koji je rekao da su ga lica fotografiranih znala progoniti u snovima. 

Nije uspio sačuvati sve fotografije, ali neke od njih uspio je prenijeti u vječnost kako se horor tog razdoblja nikad ne bi zaboravio.

Zločini tijekom Drugog svjetskog rata bili su tako velikih razmjera da iz današnje perspektive ne možemo ni zamisliti toliku količinu tragedije, piše National Geographic. 

Czeslawa Kwok bila je jedna od više od 100.000 Poljaka deportiranih iz svojih sela nakon njemačke invazije 1939. godine. 

Ti poljoprivrednici, većinom katolici, odvedeni su iz svojih domova kako bi napravili mjesta za Nijemce jer su nacisti planirali naseliti tu zemlju.

Vrlo malo se zna o životu Czeslawe Kwoke prije ovog trenutka uhvaćenog u fotografskom kadru.

Poznato je da je rođena u malom selu Volka Zlojecka na jugoistoku Poljske 15. kolovoza 1928. godine, a da su ona i njezina majka deportirane iz Zamošća u Poljskoj u Auschwitz 13. prosinca 1942. godine.

Za naciste je Czeslawa Kwok bio samo zatvoreni...
