Znanstvenici sa sveučilišta u Amsterdamu u Nizozemskoj prvi put su otkrili mikroplastiku u ljudskoj krvi, pri čemu su strane čestice pronađene kod 80 posto testiranih ljudi, piše Mondo.

Stručnjaci su analizirali uzorke krvi 22 anonimna davatelja, od kojih su svi bili zdrave odrasle osobe, i identificirali čestice plastike kod 17 osoba. Polovina uzoraka je sadržala PET plastiku, koja se obično koristi u bocama za piće, a trećina je sadržala polistiren od kojega se pravi ambalaža za hranu i druge proizvode. Četvrtina uzoraka krvi sadržala je polietilen od kojeg se prave plastične vrećice.

Znastvenici još uvijek ne mogu s apsolutnom sigurnošću kazati kakav utjecaj mikroplastika ima na zdravlje ljudi. Ipak, zabrinjava to što postoje dokazi da mikroplastika u laboratorijskim uvjetima uzrokuje oštećenje ljudskih ćelija. Tome treba i pridodati činjenicu da čestice zagađenja zraka ulaze u tijelo i izazivaju milijune prijevremenih smrthih ishoda godišnje. Nedavna studija je pokazala da se mikroplastika može "zakačiti" za vanjsku membranu crvenih krvnih zrnaca i ograničiti njihovu sposobnost prijenosa kisika. Čestice su pronađene i u placentama trudnica, a kod trudnih štakora brzo putuju kroz pluća do srca, mozga i drugih organa fetusa, piše Mondo.

Znastvenici još uvijek ne mogu s apsolutnom sigurnošću kazati kakav utjecaj mikroplastika ima na zdravlje ljudi. Ipak, zabrinjava to što postoje dokazi da mikroplastika u laboratorijskim uvjetima uzrokuje oštećenje ljudskih ćelija. Tome treba i pridodati činjenicu da čestice zagađenja zraka ulaze u tijelo i izazivaju milijune prijevremenih smrthih ishoda godišnje. Nedavna studija je pokazala da se mikroplastika može "zakačiti" za vanjsku membranu crvenih krvnih zrnaca i ograničiti njihovu sposobnost prijenosa kisika. Čestice su pronađene i u placentama trudnica, a kod trudnih štakora brzo putuju kroz pluća do srca, mozga i drugih organa fetusa, piše Mondo.
