Istraživanje o 5 čestih vrsta raka predviđa povećanje broja oboljelih od 14%, a broj smrti od 10.8% u idućih nekoliko godina zbog utjecaja COVID-19 pandemije - napisao je dr. med. Alen Juginović, postdoktorand na Medicinskom fakultetu na Harvardu, na svoj Facebook profilu, te nastavio:

- COVID-19 je imao veliki utjecaj na brojne zdravstvene sustave u svijetu, osobito u prvom dijelu pandemije 2020 godine. Zbog zatvaranja brojnih država, iznimno strogih mjera vezanih za suzbijanje širenja virusa, te zabrinutosti značajnog dijela populacije mnogih država svijeta, odgođeni su brojni operacijski zahvati, kao i kontrolni i redovni pregledi na koje su pacijenti inače dolazili.

- Ovo je posebno važno kad je u pitanju rana detekcija raka jer je ranija detekcija povezana s boljim ishodom. U Nizozemskoj je, na primjer, zabilježen pad od 25% u dijagnozama raka od veljače do travnja 2020. godine.

- Nadalje, procijenjeno je da u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu 45% osoba koje su imale simptome potencijalnog raka nije otišlo na medicinski pregled u početku pandemije što je rezultiralo projekcijom od 15% više smrti od kolorektalnog, a 9% više od raka dojke u idućih 5 godina.

- Također, u Brazilu je izračunato da se smanjio broj dijagnoza raka za 35%, a broj onkoloških pregleda za 45-55%. Stoga, studije iz rastućeg broja zemalja ukazuju na problem kasnijeg dijagnosticiranja raznih vrsta raka, a nova studija iz časopisa The Lancet Oncology je napravila model kojim se predviđa utjecaj pandemije na broj dijagnoza i preživljenje od 5 čestih vrsta raka od 2020. do 2030. godine.

- Ovo istraživanje predvođeno Sveučilištem Harvard (Harvard University) je napravilo model/simulaciju koja uključuje 5 vrsta raka (kolorektalni, rak želudca, dojke, prostate i vrata maternice) s kojim se pokušalo predvidjeti incidenciju i preživljenje od raka u virtualnoj populaciji koja bi trebala biti reprezentativna populaciji države Čile (19.5 milijuna ljudi, oko 4.5-5 puta veći od Hrvatske). Kako bi se mjerio utjecaj pandemije na rak, u obzir su uzeti sljedeći faktori: smanjena mobilnost stanovništva, smanjen kapacitet bolnica, opterećen zdravstveni sustav i drugo.

- Model, sukladno istraživanjima na stvarnim populacijama, predviđa značajan pad broja dijagnoza ovih 5 vrsta raka tijekom pandemije. U 2020. je procijenjeno da je pad dijagnoza raka bio nešto više od 30%. Nadalje, procjena je da će u 2021. biti 14% više dijagnoza raka nego u slučaju da nema pandemije (3198 slučajeva u Čileu), a 10% više u 2022. godini. Što se tiče broja smrti od raka zbog kasnije dijagnoze, on bi se mogao povećati za ukupno 10.8% od 2022. do 2024., a najveće povećanje bi moglo biti kod raka prostate (17.2%), kolorektalnog (12.4%), a smrtnost od raka vrata maternice i dojke bi se povećala oko 10%.

- Najveći dio povećanog broja smrti bi se trebao dogoditi prije 2025. Sveukupno, model predviđa značajno povećanje broja dijagnosticiranih i umrlih od ovih 5 čestih vrta raka u idućih nekoliko godina, što potencijalno govori da bi zdravstveni sustavi, kao i nadležne zdravstvene vlasti trebale veliku pozornost obratiti na ovo potencijalno povećanje, kao i moguće uvođenje dodatnih preventivnih pregleda kako bi se utjecaj ovog scenarija sveo na minimum.

Istraživanje o 5 čestih vrsta raka predviđa povećanje broja oboljelih od 14%, a broj smrti od 10.8% u idućih nekoliko godina zbog utjecaja COVID-19 pandemije - napisao je dr. med. Alen Juginović, postdoktorand na Medicinskom fakultetu na Harvardu, na svoj Facebook profilu, te nastavio:

- COVID-19 je imao veliki utjecaj na brojne zdravstvene sustave u svijetu, osobito u prvom dijelu pandemije 2020 godine. Zbog zatvaranja brojnih država, iznimno strogih mjera vezanih za suzbijanje širenja virusa, te zabrinutosti značajnog dijela populacije mnogih država svijeta, odgođeni su brojni operacijski zahvati, kao i kontrolni i redovni pregledi na koje su pacijenti inače dolazili.

- Ovo je posebno važno kad je u pitanju rana detekcija raka jer je ranija detekcija povezana s boljim ishodom. U Nizozemskoj je, na primjer, zabilježen pad od 25% u dijagnozama raka od veljače do travnja 2020. godine.

- Nadalje, procijenjeno je da u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu 45% osoba koje su imale simptome potencijalnog raka nije otišlo na medicinski pregled u početku pandemije što je rezultiralo projekcijom od 15% više smrti od kolorektalnog, a 9% više od raka dojke u idućih 5 godina.

- Također, u Brazilu je izračunato da se smanjio broj dijagnoza raka za 35%, a broj onkoloških pregleda za 45-55%. Stoga, studije iz rastućeg broja zemalja ukazuju na problem kasnijeg dijagnosticiranja raznih vrsta raka, a nova studija iz časopisa The Lancet Oncology je napravila model kojim se predviđa utjecaj pandemije na broj dijagnoza i preživljenje od 5 čestih vrsta raka od 2020. do 2030. godine.

- Ovo istraživanje predvođeno Sveučilištem Harvard (Harvard University) je napravilo model/simulaciju koja uključuje 5 vrsta raka (kolorektalni, rak želudca, dojke, prostate i vrata maternice) s kojim se pokušalo predvidjeti incidenciju i preživljenje od raka u virtualnoj populaciji koja bi trebala biti reprezentativna populaciji države Čile (19.5 milijuna ljudi, oko 4.5-5 puta veći od Hrvatske). Kako bi se mjerio utjecaj pandemije na rak, u obzir su uzeti sljedeći faktori: smanjena mobilnost stanovništva, smanjen kapacitet bolnica, opterećen zdravstveni sustav i drugo.

- Model, sukladno istraživanjima na stvarnim populacijama, predviđa značajan pad broja dijagnoza ovih 5 vrsta raka tijekom pandemije. U 2020. je procijenjeno da je pad dijagnoza raka bio nešto više od 30%. Nadalje, procjena je da će u 2021. biti 14% više dijagnoza raka nego u slučaju da nema pandemije (3198 slučajeva u Čileu), a 10% više u 2022. godini. Što se tiče broja smrti od raka zbog kasnije dijagnoze, on bi se mogao povećati za ukupno 10.8% od 2022. do 2024., a najveće povećanje bi moglo biti kod raka prostate (17.2%), kolorektalnog (12.4%), a smrtnost od raka vrata maternice i dojke bi se povećala oko 10%.

- Najveći dio povećanog broja smrti bi se trebao dogoditi prije 2025. Sveukupno, model predviđa značajno povećanje broja dijagnosticiranih i umrlih od ovih 5 čestih vrta raka u idućih nekoliko godina, što potencijalno govori da bi zdravstveni sustavi, kao i nadležne zdravstvene vlasti trebale veliku pozornost obratiti na ovo potencijalno povećanje, kao i moguće uvođenje dodatnih preventivnih pregleda kako bi se utjecaj ovog scenarija sveo na minimum.
