Dječja izbirljivost u pogledu hrane problem je s kojim se suočava golem broj roditelja. Ponekad je to prilično blaga verzija, što znači da dijete unatoč tome što odbija neke namirnice, uživa u prilično raznolikoj paleti hrane. S druge strane, moguć je i ekstremniji oblik izbirljivosti, kada dijete odbije praktički svu hranu koju mu ponudite.
Roditelji se, naravno, u takvim situacijama pitaju kako postupiti. Ima li smisla prisiljavati dijete da jede hranu koju uporno odbija, ili tako možete učiniti više štete nego koristi? Postoje li možda bolje metode za navikavanje djeteta na određene namirnice?
Nedostatak važnih hranjivih sastojaka
Glavna briga roditelja koji smatraju da je njihovo dijete iznadprosječno izbirljivo povezana je, naravno, s unosom svih potrebnih hranjivih sastojaka. Naime, izbirljivost znači i povećanu mogućnost za ozbiljniji nedostatak određenih esencijalnih hranjivih sastojaka, što može biti posebno problematično u razdoblju djetetova razvoja i rasta. No, studija koju je ove godine objavila Američka akademija za pedijatriju zasigurno će donekle umiriti roditelje koje muče takve brige. Istraživači su, naime, otkrili da izbirljiva djeca uključena u studiju nisu imala više zdravstvenih problema u odnosu na manje izbirljive vršnjake. Kod sve djece uključene u istraživanje nije se otkrio ozbiljni nedostatak esencijalnih mikronutrijenata potrebnih za razvoj, premala tjelesna težina ili pothranjenost.
Selektivnost kao zaštita od pretilosti?
Studija je rezultat dužeg istraživanja koje je trajalo pet godina i u kojem je sudjelovalo 317 obitelji. Djeca su bila podijeljena u tri skupine, i to ona najizbirljivija, umjereno izbirljiva i manje izbirljiva. Istraživači su, među ostalim, otkrili da izbirljivost kod većine djece nije nešto što nestaje preko noći. U razdoblju od pet godina (djeca su imala četiri godine na početku i devet godina na kraju studije) nije bilo pretjeranih promjena u selektivnosti pojedine djece. Iako je izbirljivost često razlog za zabrinutost, jedan od zaključaka istraživanja bio je povezan s pozitivnim aspektom ove osobine. Ovo je jedan od zaštitnih čimbenika koji pomažu smanjiti vjerojatnost pretilosti kod djece, što je također sve češći problem.
Uspješne metode za smanjenje izbirljivosti
Roditelji mogu biti pod snažnim pritiskom zbog prehrambenih navika djeteta. Oni taj pritisak prenose na djecu, što obično daje potpuno suprotne rezultate od željenih. Studija je, naime, potvrdila da stalni pritisak može samo povećati djetetovu izbirljivost. Pa, koji je najbolji način postupanja u takvim situacijama?
Svaki se slučaj, naravno, malo razlikuje, pa individualni pristup ima smisla, ali stručnjaci se načelno slažu da su određene metode korisne za većinu malih izbirljivaca.
Uključivanje djece u proces pripreme jela, koji započinje odabirom hrane, trebalo bi biti vrlo korisno. Zadaci se, naravno, moraju prilagoditi djetetovoj dobi, jer čak i sasvim mala djeca mogu sudjelovati barem u određenim fazama pripreme hrane. Ova je metoda izuzetno učinkovita za većinu djece. Ako su barem djelomično sudjelovali u pripremi obroka, sigurno će htjeti barem probati hranu - u nekim slučajevima to već može značiti veliki napredak - a često se događa da spremljeno pojedu s velikim užitkom.
Češće izlaganje određenim namirnicama također može pomoći – ali ne prisiljavanjem djeteta da ih jede, već tako da ih se učini dostupnima. Naravno, ne smijete zaboraviti da i ovdje djeca puno nauče oponašajući. Ako ste zabrinuti zbog prehrambenih navika vašeg djeteta, uvijek biste se trebali zapitati jeste li sami dobar primjer ili biste trebali nešto mijenjati i na ovom području.

Dječja izbirljivost u pogledu hrane problem je s kojim se suočava golem broj roditelja. Ponekad je to prilično blaga verzija, što znači da dijete unatoč tome što odbija neke namirnice, uživa u prilično raznolikoj paleti hrane. S druge strane, moguć je i ekstremniji oblik izbirljivosti, kada dijete odbije praktički svu hranu koju mu ponudite.
Roditelji se, naravno, u takvim situacijama pitaju kako postupiti. Ima li smisla prisiljavati dijete da jede hranu koju uporno odbija, ili tako možete učiniti više štete nego koristi? Postoje li možda bolje metode za navikavanje djeteta na određene namirnice?
Nedostatak važnih hranjivih sastojaka
Glavna briga roditelja koji smatraju da je njihovo dijete iznadprosječno izbirljivo povezana je, naravno, s unosom svih potrebnih hranjivih sastojaka. Naime, izbirljivost znači i povećanu mogućnost za ozbiljniji nedostatak određenih esencijalnih hranjivih sastojaka, što može biti posebno problematično u razdoblju djetetova razvoja i rasta. No, studija koju je ove godine objavila Američka akademija za pedijatriju zasigurno će donekle umiriti roditelje koje muče takve brige. Istraživači su, naime, otkrili da izbirljiva djeca uključena u studiju nisu imala više zdravstvenih problema u odnosu na manje izbirljive vršnjake. Kod sve djece uključene u istraživanje nije se otkrio ozbiljni nedostatak esencijalnih mikronutrijenata potrebnih za razvoj, premala tjelesna težina ili pothranjenost.
Selektivnost kao zaštita od pretilosti?
Studija je rezultat dužeg istraživanja koje je trajalo pet godina i u kojem je sudjelovalo 317 obitelji. Djeca su bila podijeljena u tri skupine, i to ona najizbirljivija, umjereno izbirljiva i manje izbirljiva. Istraživači su, među ostalim, otkrili da izbirljivost kod većine djece nije nešto što nestaje preko noći. U razdoblju od pet godina (djeca su imala četiri godine na početku i devet godina na kraju studije) nije bilo pretjeranih promjena u selektivnosti pojedine djece. Iako je izbirljivost često razlog za zabrinutost, jedan od zaključaka istraživanja bio je povezan s pozitivnim aspektom ove osobine. Ovo je jedan od zaštitnih čimbenika koji pomažu smanjiti vjerojatnost pretilosti kod djece, što je također sve češći problem.
Uspješne metode za smanjenje izbirljivosti
Roditelji mogu biti pod snažnim pritiskom zbog prehrambenih navika djeteta. Oni taj pritisak prenose na djecu, što obično daje potpuno suprotne rezultate od željenih. Studija je, naime, potvrdila da stalni pritisak može samo povećati djetetovu izbirljivost. Pa, koji je najbolji način postupanja u takvim situacijama?
Svaki se slučaj, naravno, malo razlikuje, pa individualni pristup ima smisla, ali stručnjaci se načelno slažu da su određene metode korisne za većinu malih izbirljivaca.
Uključivanje djece u proces pripreme jela, koji započinje odabirom hrane, trebalo bi biti vrlo korisno. Zadaci se, naravno, moraju prilagoditi djetetovoj dobi, jer čak i sasvim mala djeca mogu sudjelovati barem u određenim fazama pripreme hrane. Ova je metoda izuzetno učinkovita za većinu djece. Ako su barem djelomično sudjelovali u pripremi obroka, sigurno će htjeti barem probati hranu - u nekim slučajevima to već može značiti veliki napredak - a često se događa da spremljeno pojedu s velikim užitkom.
Češće izlaganje određenim namirnicama također može pomoći – ali ne prisiljavanjem djeteta da ih jede, već tako da ih se učini dostupnima. Naravno, ne smijete zaboraviti da i ovdje djeca puno nauče oponašajući. Ako ste zabrinuti zbog prehrambenih navika vašeg djeteta, uvijek biste se trebali zapitati jeste li sami dobar primjer ili biste trebali nešto mijenjati i na ovom području.
