Bila sam jedan od sretnika. Upoznala sam Matta, svog muža, kad sam imala 22 godine. Nakon što sam završila fakultet, on je bio moj prvi pravi dečko. Udala sam se za njega i imali smo život iz bajke. Sve dok mu nije dijagnosticiran agresivni rak mozga, naš svijet se raspao. Umro je nepune dvije godine kasnije. Sada izlazim - prvi put u životu u 39. godini, piše huffpost.com.

Zaronila sam u svijet online upoznavanja otprilike 18 mjeseci nakon Mattove smrti. Isprva sam tražila Matta u svakom profilu - očito nije bio ondje, ali krivnja i tuga često jesu.

Kad je pandemija zatvorila svijet, aplikacije za spojeve postale su način jednostavnog povezivanja s drugim samohranim roditeljima kojima je trebao povremeni razgovor odrasle osobe. Kad sam se spojila s muškarcem koji me zanimao, stvaranje veze nije se čak činilo mogućim. Ali razgovor u aplikaciji pretvorio se u sastanak za šetnje na otvorenom.

Dok je svijet stao, mi smo koračali naprijed. Bila je to moja prva ozbiljna veza nakon gubitka, a zbog prisilno sporog ritma osjećala sam se sigurno.

Dugo su nas ograničenja druženja tijekom pandemije izolirala. Upoznali smo se bez zahtjeva stvarnog života. Tada se život počeo vraćati u normalu - novu normalu - i polako su se počeli javljati problemi. Mali problemi s obzirom na komunikacijske stilove i smjer odnosa na kraju su se pretvorili u one koje je bilo nemoguće ignorirati.

Moj brak nikada nije zahtijevao svjestan napor. Matt i ja smo zajedno odrasli i nekako smo instinktom upravljali međusobnim potrebama i granicama. Što je neobičan način na koji veza funkcionira općenito i nemoguć način na koji veza funkcionira kada su u pitanju djeca, karijere, smrti i razvodi.

To je značilo da sam, kad sam ušla u svijet spojeva kao mlada udovica, ušla kao netko tko nikada nije naučio kako prepoznati svoje potrebe i tražiti da budu zadovoljene. Nikad nisam morala naučiti da ljudi ponekad jednostavno ne mogu zadovoljiti naše potrebe, a to nije mjera vrijednosti bilo koje osobe kao partnera.

Moje je jedino iskustvo bilo da su se potrebe i granice dogovarale implicitno, možda čak i podsvjesno. To je značilo da kad moje potrebe nisu bile zadovoljene u vezi, pretpostavljala sam da je problem u mojim potrebama, a ne u vezi. Čak i kad sam identificirala i izrazila svoje potrebe, trudila sam se povući granicu oko trenutaka kada one nisu bile zadovoljene.

Mattova smrt - taj gubitak - uništila me. Cijeli moj svijet se srušio. Tuga je gušila. Čovjek s kojim sam izlazila nije bio moj muž, ili otac moje djece ili netko s kim sam provela desetljeće gradeći život, ali on je bio prva osoba koju sam u potpunosti pustila u svoje srce. Nisam znala može li moje srce preživjeti još jedan gubitak.

Zbog svega toga provela sam dosta vremena uvjeravajući samu sebe da mi ne treba više i da mi ne smeta što ne idemo naprijed. Ispričavala sam se za trenutke kada riječi nisu odgovarale djelima i racionalizirala sam povrijeđene osjećaje. Na kraju su problemi postali preveliki da bi se zanemarili.

Veza koja je započela iskricom u najranijim danima pandemije završila je cviljenjem tijekom kasnonoćnog telefonskog razgovora. Duboka tuga vratila se s osvetom i činilo se kao da je Matt ponovno umro, ali ovaj put nisam mogla biti ljuta na sudbinu ili svemir. Bio je moj izbor da se otvorim ljubavi i moj izbor da odem od nje.

Činilo se da očaj nema kraja. Otpornost i snaga za koje su me hvalili u danima nakon Mattove smrti činilo se da ih nema nigdje. Moje tijelo i um nisu mogli razlikovati gubitak muža od gubitka dečka, iako sam logično znala da je moja reakcija nesrazmjerna stvarnosti. Svatko tko poznaje tugu zna da ona živi u tijelu i da ne reagira dobro na logično razmišljanje.

U dubini tog očaja, čak sam si dopustila vjerovati da sam potrošila svu svoju otpornost i snagu, da nam je samo toliko dodijeljeno u životu. Ali otpornost nije ograničen resurs. Nije slučajno ili privremeno.

To je nešto što sa svakom upotrebom samo jača, poput mišića. Otpornost je bila prisutna u trenucima nakon prekida kada su moja pluća ponovno udahnula unatoč stezanju u prsima. Otpornost je bila prisutna kad je moj um šaputao riječ sigurno tijekom vremena kada sam se borila s neizvjesnošću sutrašnjice. Bila sam jedan od sretnika. Upoznala sam Matta, svog muža, kad sam imala 22 godine. Nakon što sam završila fakultet, on je bio moj prvi pravi dečko. Udala sam se za njega i imali smo život iz bajke. Kad sam se spojila s muškarcem koji me zanimao, stvaranje veze nije se čak činilo mogućim. Ali razgovor u aplikaciji pretvorio se u sastanak za šetnje na otvorenom.

Dok je svijet stao, mi smo koračali naprijed. Bila je to moja prva ozbiljna veza nakon gubitka, a zbog prisilno sporog ritma osjećala sam se sigurno.

Dugo su nas ograničenja druženja tijekom pandemije izolirala. Upoznali smo se bez zahtjeva stvarnog života. Tada se život počeo vraćati u normalu - novu normalu - i polako su se počeli javljati problemi. Mali problemi s obzirom na komunikacijske stilove i smjer odnosa na kraju su se pretvorili u one koje je bilo nemoguće ignorirati.

Moj brak nikada nije zahtijevao svjestan napor. Matt i ja smo zajedno odrasli i nekako smo instinktom upravljali međusobnim potrebama i granicama. Što je neobičan način na koji veza funkcionira općenito i nemoguć način na koji veza funkcionira kada su u pitanju djeca, karijere, smrti i razvodi.

To je značilo da sam, kad sam ušla u svijet spojeva kao mlada udovica, ušla kao netko tko nikada nije naučio kako prepoznati svoje potrebe i tražiti da budu zadovoljene. Nikad nisam morala naučiti da ljudi ponekad jednostavno ne mogu zadovoljiti naše potrebe, a to nije mjera vrijednosti bilo koje osobe kao partnera.

Moje je jedino iskustvo bilo da su se potrebe i granice dogovarale implicitno, možda čak i podsvjesno. To je značilo da kad moje potrebe nisu bile zadovoljene u vezi, pretpostavljala sam da je problem u mojim potrebama, a ne u vezi. Čak i kad sam identificirala i izrazila svoje potrebe, trudila sam se povući granicu oko trenutaka kada one nisu bile zadovoljene.

Mattova smrt - taj gubitak - uništila me. Cijeli moj svijet se srušio. Tuga je gušila. Čovjek s kojim sam izlazila nije bio moj muž, ili otac moje djece ili netko s kim sam provela desetljeće gradeći život, ali on je bio prva osoba koju sam u potpunosti pustila u svoje srce. Nisam znala može li moje srce preživjeti još jedan gubitak.

Zbog svega toga provela sam dosta vremena uvjeravajući samu sebe da mi ne treba više i da mi ne smeta što ne idemo naprijed. Ispričavala sam se za trenutke kada riječi nisu odgovarale djelima i racionalizirala sam povrijeđene osjećaje. Na kraju su problemi postali preveliki da bi se zanemarili.

Veza koja je započela iskricom u najranijim danima pandemije završila je cviljenjem tijekom kasnonoćnog telefonskog razgovora. Duboka tuga vratila se s osvetom i činilo se kao da je Matt ponovno umro, ali ovaj put nisam mogla biti ljuta na sudbinu ili svemir. Bio je moj izbor da se otvorim ljubavi i moj izbor da odem od nje.

Činilo se da očaj nema kraja. Otpornost i snaga za koje su me hvalili u danima nakon Mattove smrti činilo se da ih nema nigdje. Moje tijelo i um nisu mogli razlikovati gubitak muža od gubitka dečka, iako sam logično znala da je moja reakcija nesrazmjerna stvarnosti. Svatko tko poznaje tugu zna da ona živi u tijelu i da ne reagira dobro na logično razmišljanje.

U dubini tog očaja, čak sam si dopustila vjerovati da sam potrošila svu svoju otpornost i snagu, da nam je samo toliko dodijeljeno u životu. Ali otpornost nije ograničen resurs. Nije slučajno ili privremeno.

To je nešto što sa svakom upotrebom samo jača, poput mišića. Otpornost je bila prisutna u trenucima nakon prekida kada su moja pluća ponovno udahnula unatoč stezanju u prsima. Otpornost je bila prisutna kad je moj um šaputao riječ sigurno tijekom vremena kada sam se borila s neizvjesnošću sutrašnjice. Otpornost je bila tu, kao što je bila i prije, pomažući mi pronaći razloge da vjerujem u nadu, ljubav i svjetlost, piše huffpost.com.

Bila sam jedan od sretnika. Upoznala sam Matta, svog muža, kad sam imala 22 godine. Nakon što sam završila fakultet, on je bio moj prvi pravi dečko. Udala sam se za njega i imali smo život iz bajke. Sve dok mu nije dijagnosticiran agresivni rak mozga, naš svijet se raspao. Umro je nepune dvije godine kasnije. Sada izlazim - prvi put u životu u 39. godini, piše huffpost.com.

Zaronila sam u svijet online upoznavanja otprilike 18 mjeseci nakon Mattove smrti. Isprva sam tražila Matta u svakom profilu - očito nije bio ondje, ali krivnja i tuga često jesu.
