Prema novim podacima Centra za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti (CDC), sindrom kroničnog umora utječe na 3,3 milijuna Amerikanaca, što je značajno veći broj u usporedbi s prethodnim procjenama. Postoji pretpostavka da je COVID-19 potaknuo pojavu sindroma kroničnog umora kod određenih pacijenata.

Izvješće CDC-a proizlazi iz istraživanja provedenog među 57.000 odraslih Amerikanaca tijekom 2021. i 2022. godine. Sudionici su pitali jesu li im zdravstveni stručnjaci ikada dijagnosticirali sindrom kroničnog umora i jesu li ti simptomi još uvijek prisutni. Oko 1,3% ispitanika potvrdilo je oba pitanja, što predstavlja otprilike 3,3 milijuna odraslih Amerikanaca, prema izvještaju CDC-a.

Doktorica Elizabeth Unger, koautorica izvješća, naglašava da sindrom kroničnog umora "očito nije rijedak". Prikazani su češći slučajevi kod žena u usporedbi s muškarcima, a stope su bile veće među osobama u dobi od 50 do 69 godina, iako ostale dobne skupine nisu imune na ovaj sindrom.

Simptomi uključuju izuzetnu iscrpljenost nakon tjelesne ili mentalne aktivnosti, tanak san, poteškoće s pamćenjem, promjene u težini, izražen emocionalni stres, glavobolje i bolove u mišićima, objašnjava doktor Eric Ascher. Dijagnoza može biti izazovna jer simptomi podsjećaju na druge sindrome.

Iako uzrok sindroma kroničnog umora još nije precizno utvrđen, smatra se da se može pojaviti nakon virusnih ili bakterijskih infekcija, kao posljedica genetike, kroničnih ili autoimunih bolesti te fizičkih ili emocionalnih trauma, dodaje Ascher.

Prema novim podacima Centra za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti (CDC), sindrom kroničnog umora utječe na 3,3 milijuna Amerikanaca, što je značajno veći broj u usporedbi s prethodnim procjenama. Postoji pretpostavka da je COVID-19 potaknuo pojavu sindroma kroničnog umora kod određenih pacijenata.

Izvješće CDC-a proizlazi iz istraživanja provedenog među 57.000 odraslih Amerikanaca tijekom 2021. i 2022. godine. Sudionici su pitali jesu li im zdravstveni stručnjaci ikada dijagnosticirali sindrom kroničnog umora i jesu li ti simptomi još uvijek prisutni. Oko 1,3% ispitanika potvrdilo je oba pitanja, što predstavlja otprilike 3,3 milijuna odraslih Amerikanaca, prema izvještaju CDC-a.

Doktorica Elizabeth Unger, koautorica izvješća, naglašava da sindrom kroničnog umora "očito nije rijedak". Prikazani su češći slučajevi kod žena u usporedbi s muškarcima, a stope su bile veće među osobama u dobi od 50 do 69 godina, iako ostale dobne skupine nisu imune na ovaj sindrom.

Simptomi uključuju izuzetnu iscrpljenost nakon tjelesne ili mentalne aktivnosti, tanak san, poteškoće s pamćenjem, promjene u težini, izražen emocionalni stres, glavobolje i bolove u mišićima, objašnjava doktor Eric Ascher. Dijagnoza može biti izazovna jer simptomi podsjećaju na druge sindrome.

Iako uzrok sindroma kroničnog umora još nije precizno utvrđen, smatra se da se može pojaviti nakon virusnih ili bakterijskih infekcija, kao posljedica genetike, kroničnih ili autoimunih bolesti te fizičkih ili emocionalnih trauma, dodaje Ascher.

Prema novim podacima Centra za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti (CDC), sindrom kroničnog umora utječe na 3,3 milijuna Amerikanaca, što je značajno veći broj u usporedbi s prethodnim procjenama. Postoji pretpostavka da je COVID-19 potaknuo pojavu sindroma kroničnog umora kod određenih pacijenata.

Izvješće CDC-a proizlazi iz istraživanja provedenog među 57.000 odraslih Amerikanaca tijekom 2021. i 2022. godine. Sudionici su pitali jesu li im zdravstveni stručnjaci ikada dijagnosticirali sindrom kroničnog umora i jesu li ti simptomi još uvijek prisutni. Oko 1,3% ispitanika potvrdilo je oba pitanja, što predstavlja otprilike 3,3 milijuna odraslih Amerikanaca, prema izvještaju CDC-a.

Doktorica Elizabeth Unger, koautorica izvješća, naglašava da sindrom kroničnog umora "očito nije rijedak". Prikazani su češći slučajevi kod žena u usporedbi s muškarcima, a stope su bile veće među osobama u dobi od 50 do 69 godina, iako ostale dobne skupine nisu imune na ovaj sindrom.

Simptomi uključuju izuzetnu iscrpljenost nakon tjelesne ili mentalne aktivnosti, tanak san, poteškoće s pamćenjem, promjene u težini, izražen emocionalni stres, glavobolje i bolove u mišićima, objašnjava doktor Eric Ascher. Dijagnoza može biti izazovna jer simptomi podsjećaju na druge sindrome.

Iako uzrok sindroma kroničnog umora još nije precizno utvrđen, smatra se da se može pojaviti nakon virusnih ili bakterijskih infekcija, kao posljedica genetike, kroničnih ili autoimunih bolesti te fizičkih ili emocionalnih trauma, dodaje Ascher.
