Tvrtka AstraZeneca objavila je danas da je njezino cjepivo protiv koronavirusa, razvijeno u suradnji sa Sveučilištem u Oxfordu, prosječno učinkovito 70 posto.
Radi se, kako piše BBC, o svojevrsnom trijumfu i razočaranju s obzirom na to da cjepiva Pfizera i Moderne, kako su objavile obje kompanije, imaju 95 postotnu učinkovitost.
- Ova današnja vijest vodi nas korak bliže trenutku kada ćemo upotrebom cjepiva stati na kraj situaciji koju je prouzročio virus - kazala je 'arhitektica' oxfordskog cjepiva Sarah Gilbert.
U kliničko ispitivanje oxfordskog cjepiva bilo je uključeno 20 tisuća dobrovoljaca, polovica njih iz Velike Britanije, a ostatak iz Brazila.
- Učinkovitost i sigurnost ovog cjepiva potvrđuju da će ono biti visoko efikasno u borbi protiv covida-19, i imat će neposredni utjecaj na ovaj hitan javnozdravstveni problem - rekao je Pascal Soriot, izvršni direktor AstraZenece u priopćenju.
Covid-19 potvrđen je u 30 slučajeva kod osoba koje su primile dvije doze cjepiva te u 101 slučaj kod ljudi koji su primili placebo.
Stručnjaci koji su provodili ispitivanje kazali su da cjepivo daje 70-postotnu zaštitu, no postoji i intrigantni podatak da se efikasnost cjepiva može podići na 90 posto.
Kako piše BBC, kod dobrovoljaca koji su primili dvije jake doze cjepiva učinkovitost je bila 62 posto, no ona je porasla na 90 posto kada su dobrovoljci dobili jednu slabiju dozu, a nakon toga jaču dozu cjepiva. Još uvijek nije poznato zašto dolazi do takve razlike u učinkovitosti cjepiva.
Profesor Andrew Pollard koji je bio vodeći stručnjak kliničkog ispitivanja kazao je da je zadovoljan rezultatima. Kazao je i da su podaci od 90 posto učinkovitosti intrigantni.
Ipak, cjepivo s Oxforda jeftinije je te ga je lakše pohraniti i prenositi za razliku od cjepiva dvije spomenute tvrtke.
Cjepivo s Oxforda i dalje će imati svoju ulogu u borbi s pandemijom Covida-19 ako ga odobre regulatori, navodi BBC.
- Zaista smo zadovoljni s ovim rezultatima - rekao je Andrew Pollard, glavni voditelj istraživanja za BBC.
Nikakve ozbiljnije nuspojave nisu zabilježene, i dobro je prihvaćeno u oba režima cijepljenja, ističu agencije.
Europska komisija dogovorila je isporuku cjepiva sa šest kompanija, od kojih je jedno upravo cjepivo koje razvijaju znanstvenici s Oxforda zajedno s kompanijom AstraZeneca. Ta britanska firma trebala bi za zemlje Europske unije osigurati najmanje 300 milijuna doza, od čega bi Hrvatska trebala dobiti 2,7 milijuna.

Tvrtka AstraZeneca objavila je danas da je njezino cjepivo protiv koronavirusa, razvijeno u suradnji sa Sveučilištem u Oxfordu, prosječno učinkovito 70 posto.
Radi se, kako piše BBC, o svojevrsnom trijumfu i razočaranju s obzirom na to da cjepiva Pfizera i Moderne, kako su objavile obje kompanije, imaju 95 postotnu učinkovitost.
- Ova današnja vijest vodi nas korak bliže trenutku kada ćemo upotrebom cjepiva stati na kraj situaciji koju je prouzročio virus - kazala je 'arhitektica' oxfordskog cjepiva Sarah Gilbert.
U kliničko ispitivanje oxfordskog cjepiva bilo je uključeno 20 tisuća dobrovoljaca, polovica njih iz Velike Britanije, a ostatak iz Brazila.
- Učinkovitost i sigurnost ovog cjepiva potvrđuju da će ono biti visoko efikasno u borbi protiv covida-19, i imat će neposredni utjecaj na ovaj hitan javnozdravstveni problem - rekao je Pascal Soriot, izvršni direktor AstraZenece u priopćenju.
Covid-19 potvrđen je u 30 slučajeva kod osoba koje su primile dvije doze cjepiva te u 101 slučaj kod ljudi koji su primili placebo.
Stručnjaci koji su provodili ispitivanje kazali su da cjepivo daje 70-postotnu zaštitu, no postoji i intrigantni podatak da se efikasnost cjepiva može podići na 90 posto.
Kako piše BBC, kod dobrovoljaca koji su primili dvije jake doze cjepiva učinkovitost je bila 62 posto, no ona je porasla na 90 posto kada su dobrovoljci dobili jednu slabiju dozu, a nakon toga jaču dozu cjepiva. Još uvijek nije poznato zašto dolazi do takve razlike u učinkovitosti cjepiva.
Profesor Andrew Pollard koji je bio vodeći stručnjak kliničkog ispitivanja kazao je da je zadovoljan rezultatima. Kazao je i da su podaci od 90 posto učinkovitosti intrigantni.
Ipak, cjepivo s Oxforda jeftinije je te ga je lakše pohraniti i prenositi za razliku od cjepiva dvije spomenute tvrtke.
Cjepivo s Oxforda i dalje će imati svoju ulogu u borbi s pandemijom Covida-19 ako ga odobre regulatori, navodi BBC.
- Zaista smo zadovoljni s ovim rezultatima - rekao je Andrew Pollard, glavni voditelj istraživanja za BBC.
Nikakve ozbiljnije nuspojave nisu zabilježene, i dobro je prihvaćeno u oba režima cijepljenja, ističu agencije.
Europska komisija dogovorila je isporuku cjepiva sa šest kompanija, od kojih je jedno upravo cjepivo koje razvijaju znanstvenici s Oxforda zajedno s kompanijom AstraZeneca. Ta britanska firma trebala bi za zemlje Europske unije osigurati najmanje 300 milijuna doza, od čega bi Hrvatska trebala dobiti 2,7 milijuna.
