Istražujući groblje kod crkve sv. Frane u Šibeniku, otkriveno slučajno tijekom radova na projektu Aglomeracija Šibenik, trojica arheologa pronašli su 600 lubanja, a dio očuvanih kostiju po završetku istraživanja poslan je na cjelovitu analizu u Antropološki institut u Zagrebu.
Istraživanje su proveli arheolozi Slavko i Josip Galiot i Tomislav Pušić iz tvrtke Delmat Galiot.
Premda je sličnih groblja u dalmatinskim gradovima puno, arheolozi se još nisu susreli s ovolikim brojem kostura i lubanja, rekao je Slavko Galiot.
U zajedničkim grobnicama na trgu kod crkve sv. Frane pronađeno je više od 600 lubanja, a po kostima se može zaključiti da je tamo ukopano i oko 200 djece.
Napominjući da je pronađeno vrlo malo cjelovitih kostura, Galiot ističe da su pojedine grobnice bolje očuvane.
Kosturi pronađeni u jednoj od njih poslani su na antropološku analizu kako bi se utvrdila kompletna slika te grobnice. "Na tim je kosturima bilo i nekoliko slabo očuvanih dijelova odjeće, zatim metalni predmeti poput kopči, kukica i spona, a bilo je i ukrasa, narukvica, nekoliko pozlaćenih praporaka koje su vjerojatno nosile mlađe osobe, prstenja, pečatnjaka i slično. Sve je to poslano na daljnju analizu", dodao je Galiot.
Groblje uz crkvu sv. Frane datira iz 14. ili 15. stoljeća, a zadnji su ukopi tamo održani 1827. godine.
"Crkva je sagrađena oko 1328. godine, a posvećena je 1423. godine. S dolaskom franjevaca unutar šibenskih zidina, počeli su i ukopi. Govorimo, dakle, o 14. ili 15. stoljeću kao početku ukapanja. Ima pretpostavki da je moglo početi i ranije, ali za to dokaza nema. Inače, tamo su bile još dvije crkvice, sv. Martina i sv. Mihovila", objašnjava arheolog.
U crkvama su se pokapali svećenici i plemići, bogatiji društveni sloj ondašnjeg Šibenika, a nestankom mjesta u crkvi, novi su se grobovi kopali u dvorištu i blizini crkve. Sudeći po pronađenim ostacima i nakitu, riječ je dobrostojećim građanima Šibenika.
"U pojedinim je grobnicama bilo i više od 30 lubanja. To su takozvane 'obitelji-zadruge', recimo obitelji više braće koje su nisu dijelile, već su funkcionirale kao zajednice", navodi Galiot.
Inicijativu da se ukapanja premjeste iz gradova pokrenula su gradska vijeća 1777. godine, otprilike 50 godina prije zadnjeg ukopa kod sv. Frane. Tijela su se tada ukapala u plitke grobove bez sanduka pa je smrad u crkvama bio nesnosan.
Kako kaže Galiot, u crkvi sv. Frane i unutar njezina dvorišta još je 300 grobnica i ne zna se koliko je ljudi tamo pokopano. Na osnovu 600 lubanja pronađenih ispred crkve, može se pretpostaviti da je u blizini još jako puno kostura.
"Iz higijenskih razloga početkom 19. stoljeća prestalo se s praksom ukapanja u gradu a pokojnike se počelo ukapati na groblje sv. Ane i danas napušteno groblje u blizini Ražina. Župnik crkve sv. Frane 1826. godine naložio je skidanje nadgrobnih ploča i postavljanje pločnika, ali to je učinjeno tek 1880. godine" rekao je Galiot.

Istražujući groblje kod crkve sv. Frane u Šibeniku, otkriveno slučajno tijekom radova na projektu Aglomeracija Šibenik, trojica arheologa pronašli su 600 lubanja, a dio očuvanih kostiju po završetku istraživanja poslan je na cjelovitu analizu u Antropološki institut u Zagrebu.
Istraživanje su proveli arheolozi Slavko i Josip Galiot i Tomislav Pušić iz tvrtke Delmat Galiot.
Premda je sličnih groblja u dalmatinskim gradovima puno, arheolozi se još nisu susreli s ovolikim brojem kostura i lubanja, rekao je Slavko Galiot.
U zajedničkim grobnicama na trgu kod crkve sv. Frane pronađeno je više od 600 lubanja, a po kostima se može zaključiti da je tamo ukopano i oko 200 djece.
Napominjući da je pronađeno vrlo malo cjelovitih kostura, Galiot ističe da su pojedine grobnice bolje očuvane.
Kosturi pronađeni u jednoj od njih poslani su na antropološku analizu kako bi se utvrdila kompletna slika te grobnice. "Na tim je kosturima bilo i nekoliko slabo očuvanih dijelova odjeće, zatim metalni predmeti poput kopči, kukica i spona, a bilo je i ukrasa, narukvica, nekoliko pozlaćenih praporaka koje su vjerojatno nosile mlađe osobe, prstenja, pečatnjaka i slično. Sve je to poslano na daljnju analizu", dodao je Galiot.
Groblje uz crkvu sv. Frane datira iz 14. ili 15. stoljeća, a zadnji su ukopi tamo održani 1827. godine.
"Crkva je sagrađena oko 1328. godine, a posvećena je 1423. godine. S dolaskom franjevaca unutar šibenskih zidina, počeli su i ukopi. Govorimo, dakle, o 14. ili 15. stoljeću kao početku ukapanja. Ima pretpostavki da je moglo početi i ranije, ali za to dokaza nema. Inače, tamo su bile još dvije crkvice, sv. Martina i sv. Mihovila", objašnjava arheolog.
U crkvama su se pokapali svećenici i plemići, bogatiji društveni sloj ondašnjeg Šibenika, a nestankom mjesta u crkvi, novi su se grobovi kopali u dvorištu i blizini crkve. Sudeći po pronađenim ostacima i nakitu, riječ je dobrostojećim građanima Šibenika.
"U pojedinim je grobnicama bilo i više od 30 lubanja. To su takozvane 'obitelji-zadruge', recimo obitelji više braće koje su nisu dijelile, već su funkcionirale kao zajednice", navodi Galiot.
Inicijativu da se ukapanja premjeste iz gradova pokrenula su gradska vijeća 1777. godine, otprilike 50 godina prije zadnjeg ukopa kod sv. Frane. Tijela su se tada ukapala u plitke grobove bez sanduka pa je smrad u crkvama bio nesnosan.
Kako kaže Galiot, u crkvi sv. Frane i unutar njezina dvorišta još je 300 grobnica i ne zna se koliko je ljudi tamo pokopano. Na osnovu 600 lubanja pronađenih ispred crkve, može se pretpostaviti da je u blizini još jako puno kostura.
"Iz higijenskih razloga početkom 19. stoljeća prestalo se s praksom ukapanja u gradu a pokojnike se počelo ukapati na groblje sv. Ane i danas napušteno groblje u blizini Ražina. Župnik crkve sv. Frane 1826. godine naložio je skidanje nadgrobnih ploča i postavljanje pločnika, ali to je učinjeno tek 1880. godine" rekao je Galiot.
