Šišmiši čine oko petine ukupnog broja sisavaca u svijetu. Od drugih sisavaca razlikuje ih sposobnost leta i sposobnost orijentacije uz pomoć ultrazvuka (eholokacija). Mogu živjeti čak četrdeset godina. Tijelo im je prekriveno krznom, vrat kratak, a glava relativno krupna s velikim ustima i snažnim čeljustima. Godišnji ciklus aktivnosti šišmiša vezan je za godišnja doba i vremenske prilike.

Zimi hladno vrijeme ograničava količinu hrane stoga šišmiši, zbog štednje energije, zimu najčešće provedu u stadiju hibernacije. U proljeće temperatura njihova tijela poraste uslijed rasta vanjske temperature te tako opet postanu sposobni za let i lov. Također, u proljeće počinju sazrijevati embriji ženki koje su se parile prethodne jeseni. Godišnje obično imaju samo jedno mlado, no nekoliko vrsta može ponekad imati i dva mlada. Mladi su za let sposobni kad su stari otprilike mjesec dana. Krajem ljeta mužjaci postaju sve aktivniji pa počnu udvarati ženkama.

Neka skloništa, a posebno speleološke objekte, često koriste kao mjesta rojenja, u njima se okupljaju najčešće radi parenja, poslije traže moguća nova skloništa i pokazuju mladima njihovu lokaciju. Do kraja jeseni sele se u zimska skloništa za hibernaciju, gdje ostanu tijekom hladnih mjeseci, pojedinačno ili u skupinama koje mogu brojiti do nekoliko tisuća jedinki.

Mnoge vrste kombiniraju različite tipove skloništa (speleološke objekte, potkrovlja, šume, pukotine u zidovima, stijenama i stablima) ovisno o godišnjem dobu, mogućnostima i okolišnim uvjetima. Stoga skloništa ovisno o njihovoj funkciji dijelimo na hibernacijska, skloništa porodiljnih kolonija, mjesta rojenja i tranzicijska (povremena) skloništa. Speleološki objekti mogu služiti kao stalno mjesto za sklonište mnogim generacijama šišmiša.

Od sumraka sve do ranih jutarnjih sati šišmiši su izvan svojih skloništa u potrazi za hranom. U potrazi za hranom obilaze otvorena staništa (livade, pašnjake), grmoliku vegetaciju i šumska staništa, staništa blizu vodenih površina i urbana područja, u skladu s ekološkim karakteristikama pojedine vrste.

Većina europskih vrsta šišmiša primarno se hrani kukcima. Iz tog razloga posebno je važna uloga šišmiša kao prirodnih pesticida, s obzirom da jedan šišmiš u satu može uloviti od 500 do 1 000 kukaca. Osim toga, šišmiši se smatraju vrlo dobrim bioindikatorima, pri čemu je veća brojnost šišmiša direktan pokazatelj zdravog i stabilnog ekosustava, dok pad u njihovoj brojnosti može biti posljedica utjecaja raznih ljudskih aktivnosti.

Od 45 vrsta šišmiša zabilježenih na području Europske unije, na području Republike Hrvatske obitavaju 34 vrste, pa se time Hrvatska svrstava među zemlje s najvećom bioraznolikosti faune šišmiša u Europi.

Fauna šišmiša šireg područja Nacionalnog parka „Krka" sporadično je istraživana od polovice 19. stoljeća. Prema dosadašnjim istraživanjima, na tom prostoru obitavaju najmanje 22 vrste šišmiša, koje kao skloništa najčešće koriste špilje i jame.

Na širem području NP „Krka" devet speleoloških objekata uvršteno je na popis međunarodno važnih podzemnih skloništa za šišmiše. S obzirom na veliku mobilnost šišmiša i areal njihova kretanja tijekom hranjenja i dnevnih/sezonskih migracija, područje Parka važno je za njihovo očuvanje.

Šišmiši su ranjivi na promjene u stanišnim uvjetima i uznemiravanje. Gubitak i degradacija skloništa šišmiša posljedica su raznih ljudskih aktivnosti. Sve manji broj kukaca zbog korištenja različitih pesticida i herbicida i promjena staništa, primjerice, gubitak močvarnih i šumskih staništa, također negativno utječu na populacije šišmiša. Osim toga, još uvijek su prisutni nerazumijevanje i predrasude zbog slabe informiranosti o životu šišmiša i njihovoj ekologiji.

Šišmiši čine oko petine ukupnog broja sisavaca u svijetu. Od drugih sisavaca razlikuje ih sposobnost leta i sposobnost orijentacije uz pomoć ultrazvuka (eholokacija). Mogu živjeti čak četrdeset godina. Tijelo im je prekriveno krznom, vrat kratak, a glava relativno krupna s velikim ustima i snažnim čeljustima. Godišnji ciklus aktivnosti šišmiša vezan je za godišnja doba i vremenske prilike.

Zimi hladno vrijeme ograničava količinu hrane stoga šišmiši, zbog štednje energije, zimu najčešće provedu u stadiju hibernacije. U proljeće temperatura njihova tijela poraste uslijed rasta vanjske temperature te tako opet postanu sposobni za let i lov. Također, u proljeće počinju sazrijevati embriji ženki koje su se parile prethodne jeseni. Godišnje obično imaju samo jedno mlado, no nekoliko vrsta može ponekad imati i dva mlada. Mladi su za let sposobni kad su stari otprilike mjesec dana. Krajem ljeta mužjaci postaju sve aktivniji pa počnu udvarati ženkama.

Neka skloništa, a posebno speleološke objekte, često koriste kao mjesta rojenja, u njima se okupljaju najčešće radi parenja, poslije traže moguća nova skloništa i pokazuju mladima njihovu lokaciju. Do kraja jeseni sele se u zimska skloništa za hibernaciju, gdje ostanu tijekom hladnih mjeseci, pojedinačno ili u skupinama koje mogu brojiti do nekoliko tisuća jedinki.

Mnoge vrste kombiniraju različite tipove skloništa (speleološke objekte, potkrovlja, šume, pukotine u zidovima, stijenama i stablima) ovisno o godišnjem dobu, mogućnostima i okolišnim uvjetima. Stoga skloništa ovisno o njihovoj funkciji dijelimo na hibernacijska, skloništa porodiljnih kolonija, mjesta rojenja i tranzicijska (povremena) skloništa. Speleološki objekti mogu služiti kao stalno mjesto za sklonište mnogim generacijama šišmiša.

Od sumraka sve do ranih jutarnjih sati šišmiši su izvan svojih skloništa u potrazi za hranom. U potrazi za hranom obilaze otvorena staništa (livade, pašnjake), grmoliku vegetaciju i šumska staništa, staništa blizu vodenih površina i urbana područja, u skladu s ekološkim karakteristikama pojedine vrste.

Većina europskih vrsta šišmiša primarno se hrani kukcima. Iz tog razloga posebno je važna uloga šišmiša kao prirodnih pesticida, s obzirom da jedan šišmiš u satu može uloviti od 500 do 1 000 kukaca. Osim toga, šišmiši se smatraju vrlo dobrim bioindikatorima, pri čemu je veća brojnost šišmiša direktan pokazatelj zdravog i stabilnog ekosustava, dok pad u njihovoj brojnosti može biti posljedica utjecaja raznih ljudskih aktivnosti.

Od 45 vrsta šišmiša zabilježenih na području Europske unije, na području Republike Hrvatske obitavaju 34 vrste, pa se time Hrvatska svrstava među zemlje s najvećom bioraznolikosti faune šišmiša u Europi.

Fauna šišmiša šireg područja Nacionalnog parka „Krka" sporadično je istraživana od polovice 19. stoljeća. Prema dosadašnjim istraživanjima, na tom prostoru obitavaju najmanje 22 vrste šišmiša, koje kao skloništa najčešće koriste špilje i jame.

Na širem području NP „Krka" devet speleoloških objekata uvršteno je na popis međunarodno važnih podzemnih skloništa za šišmiše. S obzirom na veliku mobilnost šišmiša i areal njihova kretanja tijekom hranjenja i dnevnih/sezonskih migracija, područje Parka važno je za njihovo očuvanje.

Šišmiši su ranjivi na promjene u stanišnim uvjetima i uznemiravanje. Gubitak i degradacija skloništa šišmiša posljedica su raznih ljudskih aktivnosti. Sve manji broj kukaca zbog korištenja različitih pesticida i herbicida i promjena staništa, primjerice, gubitak močvarnih i šumskih staništa, također negativno utječu na populacije šišmiša. Osim toga, još uvijek su prisutni nerazumijevanje i predrasude zbog slabe informiranosti o životu šišmiša i njihovoj ekologiji.

Šišmiši čine oko petine ukupnog broja sisavaca u svijetu. Od drugih sisavaca razlikuje ih sposobnost leta i sposobnost orijentacije uz pomoć ultrazvuka (eholokacija). Mogu živjeti čak četrdeset godina. Tijelo im je prekriveno krznom, vrat kratak, a glava relativno krupna s velikim ustima i snažnim čeljustima. Godišnji ciklus aktivnosti šišmiša vezan je za godišnja doba i vremenske prilike.

Zimi hladno vrijeme ograničava količinu hrane stoga šišmiši, zbog štednje energije, zimu najčešće provedu u stadiju hibernacije. U proljeće temperatura njihova tijela poraste uslijed rasta vanjske temperature te tako opet postanu sposobni za let i lov. Također, u proljeće počinju sazrijevati embriji ženki koje su se parile prethodne jeseni. Godišnje obično imaju samo jedno mlado, no nekoliko vrsta može ponekad imati i dva mlada. Mladi su za let sposobni kad su stari otprilike mjesec dana. Krajem ljeta mužjaci postaju sve aktivniji pa počnu udvarati ženkama.

Neka skloništa, a posebno speleološke objekte, često koriste kao mjesta rojenja, u njima se okupljaju najčešće radi parenja, poslije traže moguća nova skloništa i pokazuju mladima njihovu lokaciju. Do kraja jeseni sele se u zimska skloništa za hibernaciju, gdje ostanu tijekom hladnih mjeseci, pojedinačno ili u skupinama koje mogu brojiti do nekoliko tisuća jedinki.

Mnoge vrste kombiniraju različite tipove skloništa (speleološke objekte, potkrovlja, šume, pukotine u zidovima, stijenama i stablima) ovisno o godišnjem dobu, mogućnostima i okolišnim uvjetima. Stoga skloništa ovisno o njihovoj funkciji dijelimo na hibernacijska, skloništa porodiljnih kolonija, mjesta rojenja i tranzicijska (povremena) skloništa. Speleološki objekti mogu služiti kao stalno mjesto za sklonište mnogim generacijama šišmiša.

Od sumraka sve do ranih jutarnjih sati šišmiši su izvan svojih skloništa u potrazi za hranom. U potrazi za hranom obilaze otvorena staništa (livade, pašnjake), grmoliku vegetaciju i šumska staništa, staništa blizu vodenih površina i urbana područja, u skladu s ekološkim karakteristikama pojedine vrste.

Većina europskih vrsta šišmiša primarno se hrani kukcima. Iz tog razloga posebno je važna uloga šišmiša kao prirodnih pesticida, s obzirom da jedan šišmiš u satu može uloviti od 500 do 1 000 kukaca. Osim toga, šišmiši se smatraju vrlo dobrim bioindikatorima, pri čemu je veća brojnost šišmiša direktan pokazatelj zdravog i stabilnog ekosustava, dok pad u njihovoj brojnosti može biti posljedica utjecaja raznih ljudskih aktivnosti.

Od 45 vrsta šišmiša zabilježenih na području Europske unije, na području Republike Hrvatske obitavaju 34 vrste, pa se time Hrvatska svrstava među zemlje s najvećom bioraznolikosti faune šišmiša u Europi.
