Hrvatski košarkaški trener Veljko Mršić (51), koji je ovaj mjesec produžio ugovor sa španjolskim prvoligašem Río Breoganom, rekao je da je u siječnju otišao s mjesta izbornika Hrvatske jer je "došao do kraja ciklusa" s reprezentacijom.

Mršić je od svibnja 2019. vodio reprezentaciju Hrvatske no u siječnju 2022. je ju napustio kako bi postao trener Río Breogana, kluba koji je tada zauzimao 7. mjesto među 18. klubova u prvenstvu.

"U Hrvatskoj su također govorili: ostavlja reprezentaciju kako bi otišao u skromnu ekipu, ne velikana. No dogodile su se stvari koje su ukazivale da je došao kraj ciklusa", izjavio je Mršić u intervjuu objavljenom u nedjelju u španjolskim novinama AS.

"Bio sam potpisao ugovor (s Hrvatskom) na dvije godine i samo tijekom prve nisam mogao raditi u nekom klubu. Namjera je bila posložiti reprezentaciju da igra dobro i da se plasira na Europsko prvenstvo. Dvije godine su se pretvorile u tri, a tijekom druge su mi opet bili rekli da ne mogu raditi u klubu", dodao je.

Mršić je prije tri mjeseca potpisao za Río Breogán, klub iz sjevernog grada Luga, do kraja tekuće sezone.

"Raditi samo dva tjedna tijekom sezone mi se činilo premalo pa sam zato odlučio otići u ovaj klub", rekao je.

Na mjestu izbornika Hrvatske zamijenio ga je Damir Mulaomerović koji će voditi reprezentaciju u rujnu na Europskom prvenstvu.

Mršić je ovaj mjesec produžio suradnju sa španjolskim klubom potpisavši ugovor do ljeta 2023. godine. Río Breogán je u nedjelju izgubio na gostovanju kod drugoplasirane momčadi prvenstva Real Madrida sa 65-90 pa zauzima deseto mjesto na ljestvici. Od istog protivnika je bio ispao u četvrtfinalu španjolskog kupa sa 67-73, na turniru gdje se igrala jedna utakmica.

Susret u nedjelju bila mu je prva bez 22-godišnjeg Džanana Muse, najučinkovitijeg igrača momčadi. Musa je tijekom prethodne utakmice s Manresom primio udarac koji je napravio rupturu ždrijela pa je nekadašnji igrač Cedevite prošao operacijski zahvat u petak.

"Kada je završila utakmica s Manresom mislili smo da je riječ tek o udarcu, ničemu bitnome. No nakon 23 sata su nam javili da ga je potrebno operirati i da će vjerojatno propustiti ostatak sezone", rekao je Mršić.

"Sve nas je to pogodilo, pvenstveno kao osobe. Nije potrebno niti reći što smo sve izgubili na terenu bez njega, ali to je sekundarno. Najbitnije nam je da se oporavi", dodao je.

Hrvatski košarkaški trener Veljko Mršić (51), koji je ovaj mjesec produžio ugovor sa španjolskim prvoligašem Río Breoganom, rekao je da je u siječnju otišao s mjesta izbornika Hrvatske jer je "došao do kraja ciklusa" s reprezentacijom.

Mršić je od svibnja 2019. vodio reprezentaciju Hrvatske no u siječnju 2022. je ju napustio kako bi postao trener Río Breogana, kluba koji je tada zauzimao 7. mjesto među 18. klubova u prvenstvu.

"U Hrvatskoj su također govorili: ostavlja reprezentaciju kako bi otišao u skromnu ekipu, ne velikana. No dogodile su se stvari koje su ukazivale da je došao kraj ciklusa", izjavio je Mršić u intervjuu objavljenom u nedjelju u španjolskim novinama AS.

"Bio sam potpisao ugovor (s Hrvatskom) na dvije godine i samo tijekom prve nisam mogao raditi u nekom klubu. Namjera je bila posložiti reprezentaciju da igra dobro i da se plasira na Europsko prvenstvo. Dvije godine su se pretvorile u tri, a tijekom druge su mi opet bili rekli da ne mogu raditi u klubu", dodao je.

Mršić je prije tri mjeseca potpisao za Río Breogán, klub iz sjevernog grada Luga, do kraja tekuće sezone.

"Raditi samo dva tjedna tijekom sezone mi se činilo premalo pa sam zato odlučio otići u ovaj klub", rekao je.

Na mjestu izbornika Hrvatske zamijenio ga je Damir Mulaomerović koji će voditi reprezentaciju u rujnu na Europskom prvenstvu.

Mršić je ovaj mjesec produžio suradnju sa španjolskim klubom potpisavši ugovor do ljeta 2023. godine. Río Breogán je u nedjelju izgubio na gostovanju kod drugoplasirane momčadi prvenstva Real Madrida sa 65-90 pa zauzima deseto mjesto na ljestvici. Od istog protivnika je bio ispao u četvrtfinalu španjolskog kupa sa 67-73, na turniru gdje se igrala jedna utakmica.

Susret u nedjelju bila mu je prva bez 22-godišnjeg Džanana Muse, najučinkovitijeg igrača momčadi. Musa je tijekom prethodne utakmice s Manresom primio udarac koji je napravio rupturu ždrijela pa je nekadašnji igrač Cedevite prošao operacijski zahvat u petak.

"Kada je završila utakmica s Manresom mislili smo da je riječ tek o udarcu, ničemu bitnome. No nakon 23 sata su nam javili da ga je potrebno operirati i da će vjerojatno propustiti ostatak sezone", rekao je Mršić.

"Sve nas je to pogodilo, pvenstveno kao osobe. Nije potrebno niti reći što smo sve izgubili na terenu bez njega, ali to je sekundarno. Najbitnije nam je da se oporavi", dodao je.

Hrvatski košarkaški trener Veljko Mršić (51), koji je ovaj mjesec produžio ugovor sa španjolskim prvoligašem Río Breoganom, rekao je da je u siječnju otišao s mjesta izbornika Hrvatske jer je "došao do kraja ciklusa" s reprezentacijom.

Mršić je od svibnja 2019. vodio reprezentaciju Hrvatske no u siječnju 2022. je ju napustio kako bi postao trener Río Breogana, kluba koji je tada zauzimao 7. mjesto među 18. klubova u prvenstvu.

"U Hrvatskoj su također govorili: ostavlja reprezentaciju kako bi otišao u skromnu ekipu, ne velikana. No dogodile su se stvari koje su ukazivale da je došao kraj ciklusa", izjavio je Mršić u intervjuu objavljenom u nedjelju u španjolskim novinama AS.
