Razigravač Brooklyn Netsa Kyrie Irving izjavio je da mu je protivljenje cijepljenju protiv Covida-19 odnijelo više od 100 milijuna dolara zarade, jer je zbog te odluke morao odbiti novi ugovor s Netsima koji mu je ponuđen prije početka prošle sezone.

"Odrekao sam se četverogodišnjeg ugovora vrijednog 100 i nešto milijuna, jer sam donio odluku da se neću cijepiti", rekao je Irving u ponedjeljak na druženju s predstavnicima medija uoči početka priprema za novu sezonu.

"Mogao sam potpisati taj ugovor, cijepiti se ili ostati necijepljen, što je donosilo neizvjesnost oko toga hoću li ostati u ovoj ligi, hoću li ostati u ovoj momčadi te suočavanje s mogućim posljedicama, gubitkom posla zbog te odluke."  

Irving sve do ožujka ove godine nije mogao igrati u domaćim utakmicama Netsa, dok u New Yorku nije ukinuta odredba o obveznom cijepljenju, a ista ga je odredba u drugim gradovima sprečavala u nastupima i na nekim gostujućim utakmicama.

U sljedećoj sezoni će Irving igrati za 36,5 milijuna dolara, a ne potpiše li s Netsima novi ugovor, na kraju sezone će postati slobodan igrač, iako je prošlog ljeta bio spreman dugoročno se vezati momčad iz Brooklyna. 

"Sve smo bili dogovorili prije početka priprema za prošlu sezonu. No, dogovor je propao zbog toga što se nisam cijepio. Razumio sam poziciju kluba i morao se s tim pomiriti. Iskreno, bilo mi je teško to prihvatiti", priznao je Irving te dodao:

"Osjećao sam se kao da mi je postavljen ultimatum hoću li imati ugovor i biti u momčadi, ovisno o tome jesam li se cijepio... Bio sam stavljen u poziciju da sam ja taj koji odlučuje."

Glavni menadžer Brooklyn Netsa Sean Marks suprotstavio se takvom viđenju pregovora.

"Nije bilo nikakvog ultimatuma. Radi se o tome da želiš ljude koji su pouzdani, koji su ovdje, na koje možeš računati. To se odnosi na sve: zaposlenike, igrače, trenere. Nikome nije postavljen ultimatum da se mora cijepiti. To je potpuno osoban izbor", rekao je Marks.

"Prije dva ljeta, kad smo započeli pregovore, nije bilo odredbe o obveznom cijepljenju. Kad je na razini grada ta odredba donijeta, znali smo kako će to utjecati na igranje domaćih utakmica. Tada su pregovori zapeli."

Irving je na kraju odigrao 29 utakmica za Netse u prošloj sezoni, u kojima je bio na prosjeku od 27,4 koševa, 5,8 asistencija i 4,4 skoka. Tijekom 11 sezona provedenih u Clevelandu, Bostonu i Brooklynu Irvingov prosječni učinak je 23,1 koševa, 5,7 asistencija i 3,8 skokova u 611 utakmica.

Razigravač Brooklyn Netsa Kyrie Irving izjavio je da mu je protivljenje cijepljenju protiv Covida-19 odnijelo više od 100 milijuna dolara zarade, jer je zbog te odluke morao odbiti novi ugovor s Netsima koji mu je ponuđen prije početka prošle sezone.

"Odrekao sam se četverogodišnjeg ugovora vrijednog 100 i nešto milijuna, jer sam donio odluku da se neću cijepiti", rekao je Irving u ponedjeljak na druženju s predstavnicima medija uoči početka priprema za novu sezonu.

"Mogao sam potpisati taj ugovor, cijepiti se ili ostati necijepljen, što je donosilo neizvjesnost oko toga hoću li ostati u ovoj ligi, hoću li ostati u ovoj momčadi te suočavanje s mogućim posljedicama, gubitkom posla zbog te odluke."  

Irving sve do ožujka ove godine nije mogao igrati u domaćim utakmicama Netsa, dok u New Yorku nije ukinuta odredba o obveznom cijepljenju, a ista ga je odredba u drugim gradovima sprečavala u nastupima i na nekim gostujućim utakmicama.

U sljedećoj sezoni će Irving igrati za 36,5 milijuna dolara, a ne potpiše li s Netsima novi ugovor, na kraju sezone će postati slobodan igrač, iako je prošlog ljeta bio spreman dugoročno se vezati momčad iz Brooklyna. 

"Sve smo bili dogovorili prije početka priprema za prošlu sezonu. No, dogovor je propao zbog toga što se nisam cijepio. Razumio sam poziciju kluba i morao se s tim pomiriti. Iskreno, bilo mi je teško to prihvatiti", priznao je Irving te dodao:

"Osjećao sam se kao da mi je postavljen ultimatum hoću li imati ugovor i biti u momčadi, ovisno o tome jesam li se cijepio... Bio sam stavljen u poziciju da sam ja taj koji odlučuje."

Glavni menadžer Brooklyn Netsa Sean Marks suprotstavio se takvom viđenju pregovora.

"Nije bilo nikakvog ultimatuma. Radi se o tome da želiš ljude koji su pouzdani, koji su ovdje, na koje možeš računati. To se odnosi na sve: zaposlenike, igrače, trenere. Nikome nije postavljen ultimatum da se mora cijepiti. To je potpuno osoban izbor", rekao je Marks.

"Prije dva ljeta, kad smo započeli pregovore, nije bilo odredbe o obveznom cijepljenju. Kad je na razini grada ta odredba donijeta, znali smo kako će to utjecati na igranje domaćih utakmica. Tada su pregovori zapeli."

Irving je na kraju odigrao 29 utakmica za Netse u prošloj sezoni, u kojima je bio na prosjeku od 27,4 koševa, 5,8 asistencija i 4,4 skoka. Tijekom 11 sezona provedenih u Clevelandu, Bostonu i Brooklynu Irvingov prosječni učinak je 23,1 koševa, 5,7 asistencija i 3,8 skokova u 611 utakmica.

Razigravač Brooklyn Netsa Kyrie Irving izjavio je da mu je protivljenje cijepljenju protiv Covida-19 odnijelo više od 100 milijuna dolara zarade, jer je zbog te odluke morao odbiti novi ugovor s Netsima koji mu je ponuđen prije početka prošle sezone.

"Odrekao sam se četverogodišnjeg ugovora vrijednog 100 i nešto milijuna, jer sam donio odluku da se neću cijepiti", rekao je Irving u ponedjeljak na druženju s predstavnicima medija uoči početka priprema za novu sezonu.

"Mogao sam potpisati taj ugovor, cijepiti se ili ostati necijepljen, što je donosilo neizvjesnost oko toga hoću li ostati u ovoj ligi, hoću li ostati u ovoj momčadi te suočavanje s mogućim posljedicama, gubitkom posla zbog te odluke."  

Irving sve do ožujka ove godine nije mogao igrati u domaćim utakmicama ...
