U Zagrebu je, nakon borbe s teškom bolešću, na blagdan Sveta tri kralja preminuo Ante Baković, predsjednik Hrvatskog odbojkaškog saveza. Nakon nebrojeno mnogo pobjeda sustigao ga je kobni poraz. Za ovog Hercegovca porijeklom iz Tomislavgrada nije bilo izgubljene bitke  - do sada. Bolest je jednostavno bila jača.

Odbojkaški svijet pamtit će ga kao preporoditelja hrvatske odbojke, jer nakon što je u travnju 2017. godine zasjeo na čelo tada problematičnog Saveza u velikim financijskim dugovima krenula je renesansa naše odbojke.

Ante Baković bio je ugledni gospodarstvenik, višestruko odlikovani časnik Domovinskog rata, neumorni sportski djelatnik i zaljubljenik u odbojku. Rođen je 14. svibnja 1967. godine u Tomislavgradu gdje je završio osnovnu i srednju školu, a 1991. godine diplomirao je na Fakultetu prometnih znanosti u Zagrebu. Sudionik je Domovinskog rata 1991. – 1995., odlikovan Spomenicom Domovinskog rata i Spomenicom Domovinske zahvalnosti te Redom hrvatskog trolista i Redom hrvatskog pletera. Ukazom Predsjednika Tuđmana dobiva čin Bojnika HV.

Svoju veliku sportsku karijeru započeo je 1993. godine kao predsjednik HAOK Mladost, a u odbojci je ostao do posljednjeg trenutka. Odbojka je bila, uz obitelj koju je neizmjerno volio, njegov život.

2002. godine postao je članom Skupštine Zagrebačkog športskog saveza te po drugi puta predsjednik HAOK Mladost. U tom periodu je klub postigao brojne velike uspjehe na domaćoj i međunarodnoj sceni te razvio neke od naših najvećih odbojkaških reprezentativaca. Dvije godine potom došao je i na čelo Hrvatskog odbojkaškog saveza, kao predsjednik s vrlo teškom zadaćom – organizirati domaćinstvo Europskog prvenstva za odbojkašice 2005. godine, u vrijeme kad je Savez preopterećen dugovima prethodnika.

Odlična organizacija ipak nije bila dovoljna da se Savez sačuva od neizbježnog stečaja, pa 2006. godine završava njegov mandat predsjednika, no ostaje član Upravnog odbora HOS-a kroz sve faze - od likvidacije do osnivanja novog Saveza.

Taj novi Savez krenuo je s njim na čelu 2017. godine, kada je ponovno izabran za predsjednika HOS-a te po drugi puta dobio u ruke „vrući kesten“. Savez je na rubu stečaja, u velikim dugovima, reprezentacije u lošem stanju, a domaća liga devastirana. Čvrstom rukom i jasnim stavovima, nepristranim ali beskompromisnim odlukama i ozbiljnim financijskim restrukturiranjem, tijekom svog prvog mandata donosi preokret u hrvatsku odbojku i podiže Hrvatski odbojkaški savez u sam vrh hrvatskog sporta.

Nakon potpune financijske stabilizacije i saniranja svih dugovanja uspijeva uvesti politiku pozivnog financijskog poslovanja te po prvi put u povijesti hrvatske odbojke pruža ozbiljnu financijsku pomoć klubovima i svim dionicima odbojkaškog sporta. Uvodi brojne inovacije u domaća natjecanja, postaje neizostavan partner i oslonac međunarodnim odbojkaškim federacijama te dovodi brojna međunarodna natjecanja u Hrvatsku. Uvodi novi način rada s reprezentacijama mlađih dobnih uzrasta, a na čelo seniorskih reprezentacija dovodi vrhunske strane stručnjake pod čijim vodstvom nacionalne vrste postižu značajne uspjehe i napreduju na međunarodnoj ljestvici.

Odlukom Vlade RH imenovan je članom Nacionalnog vijeća za sport, a na Izbornoj Skupštini HOO u listopadu 2020. izabran je za člana vijeća Hrvatskog olimpijskog odbora. Dobitnik je nagrade za uspješan rad Svjetske odbojkaške federacije (FIVB), a u ljeto 2020. godine ponovno je izabran za predsjednika Hrvatskog odbojkaškog saveza.

U tom novom mandatu Savez je pronašao novi dom nakon što su stare prostorije stradale u potresu, a ženska odbojkaška reprezentacija plasirala se u Ligu nacija, što je bila velika želja Ante Bakovića. Bio je s reprezentativkama u Zadru, na Višnjiku, proslavio taj ogroman trijumf s njima. Nažalost, posljednji put.

U Zagrebu je, nakon borbe s teškom bolešću, na blagdan Sveta tri kralja preminuo Ante Baković, predsjednik Hrvatskog odbojkaškog saveza. Nakon nebrojeno mnogo pobjeda sustigao ga je kobni poraz. Za ovog Hercegovca porijeklom iz Tomislavgrada nije bilo izgubljene bitke  - do sada. Bolest je jednostavno bila jača.

Odbojkaški svijet pamtit će ga kao preporoditelja hrvatske odbojke, jer nakon što je u travnju 2017. godine zasjeo na čelo tada problematičnog Saveza u velikim financijskim dugovima krenula je renesansa naše odbojke.

Ante Baković bio je ugledni gospodarstvenik, višestruko odlikovani časnik Domovinskog rata, neumorni sportski djelatnik i zaljubljenik u odbojku. Rođen je 14. svibnja 1967. godine u Tomislavgradu gdje je završio osnovnu i srednju školu, a 1991. godine diplomirao je na Fakultetu prometnih znanosti u Zagrebu. Sudionik je Domovinskog rata 1991. – 1995., odlikovan Spomenicom Domovinskog rata i Spomenicom Domovinske zahvalnosti te Redom hrvatskog trolista i Redom hrvatskog pletera. Ukazom Predsjednika Tuđmana dobiva čin Bojnika HV.

Svoju veliku sportsku karijeru započeo je 1993. godine kao predsjednik HAOK Mladost, a u odbojci je ostao do posljednjeg trenutka. Odbojka je bila, uz obitelj koju je neizmjerno volio, njegov život.

2002. godine postao je članom Skupštine Zagrebačkog športskog saveza te po drugi puta predsjednik HAOK Mladost. U tom periodu je klub postigao brojne velike uspjehe na domaćoj i međunarodnoj sceni te razvio neke od naših najvećih odbojkaških reprezentativaca. Dvije godine potom došao je i na čelo Hrvatskog odbojkaškog saveza, kao predsjednik s vrlo teškom zadaćom – organizirati domaćinstvo Europskog prvenstva za odbojkašice 2005. godine, u vrijeme kad je Savez preopterećen dugovima prethodnika.

Odlična organizacija ipak nije bila dovoljna da se Savez sačuva od neizbježnog stečaja, pa 2006. godine završava njegov mandat predsjednika, no ostaje član Upravnog odbora HOS-a kroz sve faze - od likvidacije do osnivanja novog Saveza.

Taj novi Savez krenuo je s njim na čelu 2017. godine, kada je ponovno izabran za predsjednika HOS-a te po drugi puta dobio u ruke „vrući kesten“. Savez je na rubu stečaja, u velikim dugovima, reprezentacije u lošem stanju, a domaća liga devastirana. Čvrstom rukom i jasnim stavovima, nepristranim ali beskompromisnim odlukama i ozbiljnim financijskim restrukturiranjem, tijekom svog prvog mandata donosi preokret u hrvatsku odbojku i podiže Hrvatski odbojkaški savez u sam vrh hrvatskog sporta.

Nakon potpune financijske stabilizacije i saniranja svih dugovanja uspijeva uvesti politiku pozivnog financijskog poslovanja te po prvi put u povijesti hrvatske odbojke pruža ozbiljnu financijsku pomoć klubovima i svim dionicima odbojkaškog sporta. Uvodi brojne inovacije u domaća natjecanja, postaje neizostavan partner i oslonac međunarodnim odbojkaškim federacijama te dovodi brojna međunarodna natjecanja u Hrvatsku. Uvodi novi način rada s reprezentacijama mlađih dobnih uzrasta, a na čelo seniorskih reprezentacija dovodi vrhunske strane stručnjake pod čijim vodstvom nacionalne vrste postižu značajne uspjehe i napreduju na međunarodnoj ljestvici.

Odlukom Vlade RH imenovan je članom Nacionalnog vijeća za sport, a na Izbornoj Skupštini HOO u listopadu 2020. izabran je za člana vijeća Hrvatskog olimpijskog odbora. Dobitnik je nagrade za uspješan rad Svjetske odbojkaške federacije (FIVB), a u ljeto 2020. godine ponovno je izabran za predsjednika Hrvatskog odbojkaškog saveza.

U tom novom mandatu Savez je pronašao novi dom nakon što su stare prostorije stradale u potresu, a ženska odbojkaška reprezentacija plasirala se u Ligu nacija, što je bila velika želja Ante Bakovića. Bio je s reprezentativkama u Zadru, na Višnjiku, proslavio taj ogroman trijumf s njima. Nažalost, posljednji put.

U Zagrebu je, nakon borbe s teškom bolešću, na blagdan Sveta tri kralja preminuo Ante Baković, predsjednik Hrvatskog odbojkaškog saveza. Nakon nebrojeno mnogo pobjeda sustigao ga je kobni poraz. Za ovog Hercegovca porijeklom iz Tomislavgrada nije bilo izgubljene bitke  - do sada. Bolest je jednostavno bila jača.

Odbojkaški svijet pamtit će ga kao preporoditelja hrvatske odbojke, jer nakon što je u travnju 2017. godine zasjeo na čelo tada problematičnog Saveza u velikim financijskim dugovima krenula je renesansa naše odbojke.
