Njemački tenisač Alexander Zverev pobijedio je Amerikanca Jensona Brooksbyja u 1. kolu ATP turnira Abierto Mexicano u Acapulcu, no taj meč je ušao u povijest tenisa jer je okončan u pet sati ujutro po lokalnome vremenu.

Nakon tri sata i 19 minuta velike borbe, tijekom kojih je treći tenisač svijeta dvaput spašavao meč loptu, Zverev je pobijedio 47. igrača svijeta Brooksbyja sa 3-6, 7-6(10), 6-2, a meč je završio u 4.55 sati po lokalnom vremenu, najkasnije ikad u profesionalnoj teniskoj eri. 

Dosad je rekord bio na Australian Openu 2008. u meču između Lleytona Hewitta i Marcosa Baghdatisa, koji je završio u 4.34 ujutro po australskome vremenu.

- Trenutno sam sretan što sam pobijedio. Ne znam kako se Jenson osjeća. Mora biti teško, ali mora biti sretan jer smo sada dio povijesti. Bila je to nevjerojatna bitka - rekao je branitelj naslova Zverev ispred malobrojnih gledatelja na tribinama.

Nije to bilo jedini epski meč u pomalo maničnom ponedjeljku navečer u Meksiku.

Amerikanac Stefan Kozlov bio je usred večernjeg treninga s Rafom Nadalom kada je saznao da u glavnom ždrijebu mijenja ozlijeđenog Francuza Maximea Cressyja kao "lucky loser".

- Odigrao sam trening s Rafom... on pokida žicu, ide do torbe. Slučajno, iz ne znam kojeg razloga, provjerim svoj telefon. Imao sam 20 SMS poruka i svi su pitali gdje sam - rekao je Kozlov, koji se pola sata kasnije sastao s s bivšim trećim tenisačem svijeta Bugarinom Grigorom Dimitrovim.

Kozlov, 130. na ATP listi, doživio je u drugom setu kolaps, pao je na tlo u agoniji i jedva se mogao pomaknuti. No, nakon ukazane medicinske pomoći, Kozlov nije predao već je došao do najveće pobjede u karijeri nakon tri sata i 21 minutu igre.

Njemački tenisač Alexander Zverev pobijedio je Amerikanca Jensona Brooksbyja u 1. kolu ATP turnira Abierto Mexicano u Acapulcu, no taj meč je ušao u povijest tenisa jer je okončan u pet sati ujutro po lokalnome vremenu.

Nakon tri sata i 19 minuta velike borbe, tijekom kojih je treći tenisač svijeta dvaput spašavao meč loptu, Zverev je pobijedio 47. igrača svijeta Brooksbyja sa 3-6, 7-6(10), 6-2, a meč je završio u 4.55 sati po lokalnom vremenu, najkasnije ikad u profesionalnoj teniskoj eri. 

Dosad je rekord bio na Australian Openu 2008. u meču između Lleytona Hewitta i Marcosa Baghdatisa, koji je završio u 4.34 ujutro po australskome vremenu.

- Trenutno sam sretan što sam pobijedio. Ne znam kako se Jenson osjeća. Mora biti teško, ali mora biti sretan jer smo sada dio povijesti. Bila je to nevjerojatna bitka - rekao je branitelj naslova Zverev ispred malobrojnih gledatelja na tribinama.

Nije to bilo jedini epski meč u pomalo maničnom ponedjeljku navečer u Meksiku.

Amerikanac Stefan Kozlov bio je usred večernjeg treninga s Rafom Nadalom kada je saznao da u glavnom ždrijebu mijenja ozlijeđenog Francuza Maximea Cressyja kao "lucky loser".

- Odigrao sam trening s Rafom... on pokida žicu, ide do torbe. Slučajno, iz ne znam kojeg razloga, provjerim svoj telefon. Imao sam 20 SMS poruka i svi su pitali gdje sam - rekao je Kozlov, koji se pola sata kasnije sastao s s bivšim trećim tenisačem svijeta Bugarinom Grigorom Dimitrovim.

Kozlov, 130. na ATP listi, doživio je u drugom setu kolaps, pao je na tlo u agoniji i jedva se mogao pomaknuti. No, nakon ukazane medicinske pomoći, Kozlov nije predao već je došao do najveće pobjede u karijeri nakon tri sata i 21 minutu igre.

Njemački tenisač Alexander Zverev pobijedio je Amerikanca Jensona Brooksbyja u 1. kolu ATP turnira Abierto Mexicano u Acapulcu, no taj meč je ušao u povijest tenisa jer je okončan u pet sati ujutro po lokalnome vremenu.

Nakon tri sata i 19 minuta velike borbe, tijekom kojih je treći tenisač svijeta dvaput spašavao meč loptu, Zverev je pobijedio 47. igrača svijeta Brooksbyja sa 3-6, 7-6(10), 6-2, a meč je završio u 4.55 sati po lokalnom vremenu, najkasnije ikad u profesionalnoj teniskoj eri. 

Dosad je rekord bio na Australian Openu 2008. u meču između Lleytona Hewitta i Marcosa Baghdatisa, koji je završio u 4.34 ujutro po australskome vremenu.

- Trenutno sam sretan što sam pobijedio. Ne znam kako se Jenson osjeća. Mora biti teško, ali mora biti sretan jer smo sada dio povije...
