Branitelja naslova na umaškom ATP turniru, 19-godišnjeg Španjolca Carlosa Alcaraza, još jedna pobjeda dijeli od drugog uzastopnog finala na Plava Laguna Croatia Openu i uspona na četvrto mjesto pojedinačne ATP ljestvice, nakon što je u četvrtfinalnom dvoboju odigranom u petak sa 6-0, 6-4 svladao Argentinca Facunda Bagnisa.  

Alcaraz je ostao sam u društvu trojice Talijana. Očekivano, u polufinale se plasirao deseti tenisač svijeta i drugi nositelj turnira Jannik Sinner, a potpuno neočekivano su to učinila i dvojica kvalifikanata, 20-godišnji Giulio Zeppieri i 29-godišnji Franco Agamenone, koji do nastupa u Umagu nisu imali nijednu pobjedu na ATP Tour razini.

Za razliku od prvog meča, u kojem se dobro namučio već u prva dva gema protiv Slovaka Gomboša, Španjolac je protiv 32-godišnjeg Bagnisa osvojio prvih osam gemova, kao da je znao za nešto lošiju vremensku prognozu i približavanje kišnih oblaka. Bagnis mu je u drugom setu ipak otežao posao, imao čak i 'break-loptu' za 5-5, ali Alcaraz je bio brži od kiše. Način na koji je igrao ga je zadovoljio.

"Nema nečega s čim nisam zadovoljan, jedina što moram popraviti je držanje fokusa. Ne bi trebalo biti toliko uspona i padova, moram držati intenzitet cijelo vrijeme", rekao je Alcaraz.

U petak su u Umagu postavljeni i neki novi rekordi. Prvi put su u polufinalu trojica Talijana, prvi put ćemo u borbi za naslov gledati trojicu tenisača mlađih od 21 godine. Finale o kojem su organizatori sanjali od trenutka kad su složili igrački popis, mogu spriječiti još samo dvojica tenisača koji su odigrali već pet mečeva da bi se našli u polufinalu, dok su Alcaraz i Sinner samo dvaput bili na terenu.

"Jesu dvojica kvalifikanata, ali nisu slučajno u polufinalu. Igraju jako dobro, sjajni su igrači. Moramo ih respektirati. Nadam se da ću igrati svoj najbolji tenis i da će me to dovesti do finala. Fokusiran sam, veselim se činjenici da bih mogao igrati protiv Jannika za naslov", oprezan je Alcaraz.

Talijanski tenisači su ga ove godine češće pobjeđivali nego što su gubili od njega, a u posljednja dva meča je doživio poraze. Musetti ga je svladao u finalu Hamburga prošlu nedjelju, a Sinner ga je pobijedio u osmini finala Wimbledona.

"Nisam zabrinut, ali Talijani su mi u ovom trenutku noćna mora. No, zato baš želim igrati protiv njih. Kad izgubim od Talijana, želim igrati protiv njih više mečeva, želim biti bolji."

Iako mu je ovo bio već sedmi meč u posljednjih 11 dana, Španjolac tvrdi da će biti potpuno spreman suprotstaviti se ljevorukom 20-godišnjaku Giuliju Zeppieriju.

"Ne osjećam umor. Polufinale je, nemam vremena biti umoran", poručio je branitelj naslova uoči subotnjeg finala.

Alcaraz i Zeppieri će otvoriti polufinalni dan na stadionu "Goran Ivanišević", a njihov meč će započeti u 17.30 sati. Drugi dvoboj, onaj u kojem će za mjesto u finalu igrati Jannik Sinner i Franco Agamenone, neće započeti prije 20 sati.

Na kraju subotnjeg programa doznat ćemo i imena ovogodišnjih pobjednika u konkurenciji parova. Za trofej će se boriti prvi i treći nositelji, Talijani Fabio Fognini i Simone Bolelli, umaški pobjednici iz 2011., protiv sebe će imati britansko-finsku kombinaciju, Lloyda Glasspoola i Harrija Heliovaaru koji su prošli tjedan trijumfirali na ATP 500 turniru u Hamburgu.

Branitelja naslova na umaškom ATP turniru, 19-godišnjeg Španjolca Carlosa Alcaraza, još jedna pobjeda dijeli od drugog uzastopnog finala na Plava Laguna Croatia Openu i uspona na četvrto mjesto pojedinačne ATP ljestvice, nakon što je u četvrtfinalnom dvoboju odigranom u petak sa 6-0, 6-4 svladao Argentinca Facunda Bagnisa.  

Alcaraz je ostao sam u društvu trojice Talijana. Očekivano, u polufinale se plasirao deseti tenisač svijeta i drugi nositelj turnira Jannik Sinner, a potpuno neočekivano su to učinila i dvojica kvalifikanata, 20-godišnji Giulio Zeppieri i 29-godišnji Franco Agamenone, koji do nastupa u Umagu nisu imali nijednu pobjedu na ATP Tour razini.

Za razliku od prvog meča, u kojem se dobro namučio već u prva dva gema protiv Slovaka Gomboša, Španjolac je protiv 32-godišnjeg Bagnisa osvojio prvih osam gemova, kao da je znao za nešto lošiju vremensku prognozu i približavanje kišnih oblaka. Bagnis mu je u drugom setu ipak otežao posao, imao čak i 'break-loptu' za 5-5, ali Alcaraz je bio brži od kiše. Način na koji je igrao ga je zadovoljio.

"Nema nečega s čim nisam zadovoljan, jedina što moram popraviti je držanje fokusa. Ne bi trebalo biti toliko uspona i padova, moram držati intenzitet cijelo vrijeme", rekao je Alcaraz.

U petak su u Umagu postavljeni i neki novi rekordi. Prvi put su u polufinalu trojica Talijana, prvi put ćemo u borbi za naslov gledati trojicu tenisača mlađih od 21 godine. Finale o kojem su organizatori sanjali od trenutka kad su složili igrački popis, mogu spriječiti još samo dvojica tenisača koji su odigrali već pet mečeva da bi se našli u polufinalu, dok su Alcaraz i Sinner samo dvaput bili na terenu.

"Jesu dvojica kvalifikanata, ali nisu slučajno u polufinalu. Igraju jako dobro, sjajni su igrači. Moramo ih respektirati. Nadam se da ću igrati svoj najbolji tenis i da će me to dovesti do finala. Fokusiran sam, veselim se činjenici da bih mogao igrati protiv Jannika za naslov", oprezan je Alcaraz.

Talijanski tenisači su ga ove godine češće pobjeđivali nego što su gubili od njega, a u posljednja dva meča je doživio poraze. Musetti ga je svladao u finalu Hamburga prošlu nedjelju, a Sinner ga je pobijedio u osmini finala Wimbledona.

"Nisam zabrinut, ali Talijani su mi u ovom trenutku noćna mora. No, zato baš želim igrati protiv njih. Kad izgubim od Talijana, želim igrati protiv njih više mečeva, želim biti bolji."

Iako mu je ovo bio već sedmi meč u posljednjih 11 dana, Španjolac tvrdi da će biti potpuno spreman suprotstaviti se ljevorukom 20-godišnjaku Giuliju Zeppieriju.

"Ne osjećam umor. Polufinale je, nemam vremena biti umoran", poručio je branitelj naslova uoči subotnjeg finala.

Alcaraz i Zeppieri će otvoriti polufinalni dan na stadionu "Goran Ivanišević", a njihov meč će započeti u 17.30 sati. Drugi dvoboj, onaj u kojem će za mjesto u finalu igrati Jannik Sinner i Franco Agamenone, neće započeti prije 20 sati.

Na kraju subotnjeg programa doznat ćemo i imena ovogodišnjih pobjednika u konkurenciji parova. Za trofej će se boriti prvi i treći nositelji, Talijani Fabio Fognini i Simone Bolelli, umaški pobjednici iz 2011., protiv sebe će imati britansko-finsku kombinaciju, Lloyda Glasspoola i Harrija Heliovaaru koji su prošli tjedan trijumfirali na ATP 500 turniru u Hamburgu.

Branitelj naslova Carlos Alcaraz i trojica Talijana u borbi za naslov najboljeg na terenima Stella Maris u Umagu

Branitelja naslova na umaškom ATP turniru, 19-godišnjeg Španjolca Carlosa Alcaraza, još jedna pobjeda dijeli od drugog uzastopnog finala na Plava Laguna Croatia Openu i uspona na četvrto mjesto pojedinačne ATP ljestvice, nakon što je u četvrtfinalnom dvoboju odigranom u petak sa 6-0, 6-4 svladao Argentinca Facunda Bagnisa.  

Alcaraz je ostao sam u društvu trojice Talijana. Očekivano, u polufinale se plasirao deseti tenisač svijeta i drugi nositelj turnira Jannik Sinner, a potpuno neočekivano su to učinila i dvojica kvalifikanata, 20-godišnji Giulio Zeppieri i 29-godišnji Franco Agamenone, koji do nastupa u Umagu nisu imali nijednu pobjedu na ATP Tour razini.
