Nastupom u parovima na Laver Cupu u Londonu, Roger Federer zaključio je veličanstvenu karijeru i okončao cijelu jednu eru modernog tenisa. Njegov trener posljednjih godina bio je hrvatski tenisač Ivan Ljubičić koji je o 41-godišnjem Švicarcu govorio za Eurosport, prenose Sportske novosti.

- Pripremali smo se za njegov odlazak, ali je teško. Znao sam da će se Roger boriti s emocijama, svi su to očekivali. Za mene je okidač bio vidjeti druge; Rafu, Novaka i Andyja. Cijela stvar je bila emotivna, kamo god pogledate, svi su u suzama - rekao je Ljubičić pa nastavio u nešto pozitivnijem tonu:

- Na kraju smo shvatili da je ovo trenutak za slavlje. Nije sprovod, nitko nije umro, sve je u redu. Moramo, stoga, ići dalje i slaviti Rogera, ono što je donio tenisu i što će donijeti u budućnosti. Rekao je da ne ide nikamo. Neće se natjecati, ali bit će blizu sporta. Previše ga voli da ne bi bio povezan.

Govorio je i o tome kako je bilo biti trener jednom od najvećih tenisača svih vremena.

- Uvijek je govorio: ‘Ne želim čuti od tebe ono što misliš da ja želim čuti. Želim čuti što stvarno misliš, želim čuti istinu‘. Ponovio je to više puta, pazeći da se, barem ja kao trener, osjećam slobodno i ugodno. Uvijek je bilo tako. - otkrio je 43-godišnjak i dodao:

- Često nisam imao što reći jer je on jednostavno bio savršen. Bilo je smiješnih treninga. Samo bih ga ohrabrio i rekao: ‘Dobar si‘. Ali imali smo i teških trenutaka. No, većinu vremena je bilo jako ugodno.

Za kraj je istaknuo Federerovu posebnost.

- Toliko se toga događa, a on se sa svime može savršeno nositi: spojiti privatni život, sponzore i prijatelje. Ima toliko toga, a čini mi se da uvijek donosi prave odluke. Ne znam kako mu to uspijeva, ali pretpostavljam da je on takav kakav jest - zaključio je Ljubičić.

Nastupom u parovima na Laver Cupu u Londonu, Roger Federer zaključio je veličanstvenu karijeru i okončao cijelu jednu eru modernog tenisa. Njegov trener posljednjih godina bio je hrvatski tenisač Ivan Ljubičić koji je o 41-godišnjem Švicarcu govorio za Eurosport, prenose Sportske novosti.

- Pripremali smo se za njegov odlazak, ali je teško. Znao sam da će se Roger boriti s emocijama, svi su to očekivali. Za mene je okidač bio vidjeti druge; Rafu, Novaka i Andyja. Cijela stvar je bila emotivna, kamo god pogledate, svi su u suzama - rekao je Ljubičić pa nastavio u nešto pozitivnijem tonu:

- Na kraju smo shvatili da je ovo trenutak za slavlje. Nije sprovod, nitko nije umro, sve je u redu. Moramo, stoga, ići dalje i slaviti Rogera, ono što je donio tenisu i što će donijeti u budućnosti. Rekao je da ne ide nikamo. Neće se natjecati, ali bit će blizu sporta. Previše ga voli da ne bi bio povezan.

Govorio je i o tome kako je bilo biti trener jednom od najvećih tenisača svih vremena.

- Uvijek je govorio: ‘Ne želim čuti od tebe ono što misliš da ja želim čuti. Želim čuti što stvarno misliš, želim čuti istinu‘. Ponovio je to više puta, pazeći da se, barem ja kao trener, osjećam slobodno i ugodno. Uvijek je bilo tako. - otkrio je 43-godišnjak i dodao:

- Često nisam imao što reći jer je on jednostavno bio savršen. Bilo je smiješnih treninga. Samo bih ga ohrabrio i rekao: ‘Dobar si‘. Ali imali smo i teških trenutaka. No, većinu vremena je bilo jako ugodno.

Za kraj je istaknuo Federerovu posebnost.

- Toliko se toga događa, a on se sa svime može savršeno nositi: spojiti privatni život, sponzore i prijatelje. Ima toliko toga, a čini mi se da uvijek donosi prave odluke. Ne znam kako mu to uspijeva, ali pretpostavljam da je on takav kakav jest - zaključio je Ljubičić.

Nastupom u parovima na Laver Cupu u Londonu, Roger Federer zaključio je veličanstvenu karijeru i okončao cijelu jednu eru modernog tenisa. Njegov trener posljednjih godina bio je hrvatski tenisač Ivan Ljubičić koji je o 41-godišnjem Švicarcu govorio za Eurosport, prenose Sportske novosti.

- Pripremali smo se za njegov odlazak, ali je teško. Znao sam da će se Roger boriti s emocijama, svi su to očekivali. Za mene je okidač bio vidjeti druge; Rafu, Novaka i Andyja. Cijela stvar je bila emotivna, kamo god pogledate, svi su u suzama - rekao je Ljubičić pa nastavio u nešto pozitivnijem tonu:

- Na kraju smo shvatili da je ovo trenutak za slavlje. Nije sprovod, nitko nije umro, sve je u redu. Moramo, stoga, ići dalje i slaviti Rogera, ono što je donio tenisu i što će donijeti...
