M. Night Shyamalan se nakon nekoliko sušnih godina ("Žena iz vode", "Zemlja: Novi početak") vratio u formu i od 2015. je gotovo onaj stari misteriozni Shy kojeg smo zavoljeli na prijelazu milenija.

Za povratak kralja preokreta u formu zaslužni su filmovi "Posjeta" i "Podvojen", nakon čega je 2019. dao svoj prepoznatljiv "touch" i u stvaranju podcijenjene Apple TV+ serije "Servant" u ulozi producenta i ko-redatelja. Koncept serije definitivno je bio "shyamalanovski", pa evo podsjetnika s neminovnim "spoilerima".

Doživjevši mentalni slom zbog smrti sinčića, katatonična TV novinarka Dorothy (Lauren Ambrose) dobiva na čuvanje nevjerojatno ljudsku lutku bebe, nazvanu Jericho, ne bi li zacijelila rane.

Svi oko nje se prave kao da je dijete pravo, suprug Sean i brat Julian (Toby Kebbell, Rupert Grint), zbog čega u priču ulazi mlada služavka-dadilja Leanne (Nell Tiger Free; otkriće).

Prvi krupni preokret zbio se kad je Jericho lutak najednom postao prava beba, što, izgleda, ima veze s Leanne, članicom nekakvog natprirodnog (?) kulta o kojem je Dorothy izvještavala, a prva sezona je završila otvorenim krajem nakon što je služavka netragom nestala s čedom.

Nekoć su otvoreni krajevi bili poželjni svjesno nudeći publici više pitanja nego odgovora, ali kod serijske televizije priča se jednostavno "mora" nastaviti i to nas je dovelo do razočaravajućeg "Servanta 2" koji je završio s emitiranjem krajem ožujka.

"Servant 2" je dobar primjer da neke stvari ne trebaju nužno nastavke ako nisu promišljeni. Shyamalan je uspješno nastavio "Neslomljivog" i pretvorio ga u trilogiju, no "Šesto čulo" i "Zaselak" s razlogom nije dirao zbog kompliciranije kontinuacije nakon velikih preokreta.

Moguće da bi i eventualni "The Sixth Sense 2" i "The Village 2" bili samo nastavci nastav(a)ka radi kao "Servant 2" da su nastali u hodu, bez promišljanja, čisto da se kapitalizira na momentumu prethodnika.

Momentum je međuvremenu iščezao, misterija i tenzija je minimalna, a repetitivnost priče i teatralnost glume (Ambrose) maksimalna jednom kad Leanne ponovno završi u kući nesuđenih roditelja koji očajnički žele dobiti Jericha natrag.

Za razliku od "Servanta 1", nadnaravni horor-triler ovdje se rimuje s "filler" i druga sezona narativno kao da ne zna točno kako/gdje bi nastavila priču.

Serija ide dalje od epizode do epizode u "povuci-potegni" stilu, kupujući vrijeme dok se tijekom deset epizoda malo i nimalo toga značajnoga/zanimljivoga događa.

Epizode se i dalje lako gledaju zbog 30-minutna trajanja i pojedinih redateljskih rješenja u izazivanju čudnovatog ugođaja od samog Shyamalana, njegove kćeri Ishane, te Julije Ducournau ("Sirovo") i Nimroda Antala ("Predatori"), ali ni približno s jednakim gledateljskim žarom.

Ako je "Servant" već pao u "season 2", što nas tek čeka u idućoj sezoni, pardon – sezonama. Shyamalan najavljuje da će se serija protegnuti na ukupno šest sezona.

No, nikad se ne zna. Uz malo sreće (u)slijedi novi "shyamalanovski" preokret (nabolje) u kvaliteti "Servanta".

M. Night Shyamalan se nakon nekoliko sušnih godina ("Žena iz vode", "Zemlja: Novi početak") vratio u formu i od 2015. je gotovo onaj stari misteriozni Shy kojeg smo zavoljeli na prijelazu milenija.

Za povratak kralja preokreta u formu zaslužni su filmovi "Posjeta" i "Podvojen", nakon čega je 2019. dao svoj prepoznatljiv "touch" i u stvaranju podcijenjene Apple TV+ serije "Servant" u ulozi producenta i ko-redatelja. Koncept serije definitivno je bio "shyamalanovski", pa evo podsjetnika s neminovnim "spoilerima".

Doživjevši mentalni slom zbog smrti sinčića, katatonična TV novinarka Dorothy (Lauren Ambrose) dobiva na čuvanje nevjerojatno ljudsku lutku bebe, nazvanu Jericho, ne bi li zacijelila rane.

Svi oko nje se prave kao da je dijete pravo, suprug Sean i brat Julian (Toby Kebbell, Rupert Grint), zbog čega u priču ulazi mlada služavka-dadilja Leanne (Nell Tiger Free; otkriće).

Prvi krupni preokret zbio se kad je Jericho lutak najednom postao prava beba, što, izgleda, ima veze s Leanne, članicom nekakvog natprirodnog (?) kulta o kojem je Dorothy izvještavala, a prva sezona je završila otvorenim krajem nakon što je služavka netragom nestala s čedom.

Nekoć su otvoreni krajevi bili poželjni svjesno nudeći publici više pitanja nego odgovora, ali kod serijske televizije priča se jednostavno "mora" nastaviti i to nas je dovelo do razočaravajućeg "Servanta 2" koji je završio s emitiranjem krajem ožujka.

"Servant 2" je dobar primjer da neke stvari ne trebaju nužno nastavke ako nisu promišljeni. Shyamalan je uspješno nastavio "Neslomljivog" i pretvorio ga u trilogiju, no "Šesto čulo" i "Zaselak" s razlogom nije dirao zbog kompliciranije kontinuacije nakon velikih preokreta.

Moguće da bi i eventualni "The Sixth Sense 2" i "The Village 2" bili samo nastavci nastav(a)ka radi kao "Servant 2" da su nastali u hodu, bez promišljanja, čisto da se kapitalizira na momentumu prethodnika.

Momentum je međuvremenu iščezao, misterija i tenzija je minimalna, a repetitivnost priče i teatralnost glume (Ambrose) maksimalna jednom kad Leanne ponovno završi u kući nesuđenih roditelja koji očajnički žele dobiti Jericha natrag.

Za razliku od "Servanta 1", nadnaravni horor-triler ovdje se rimuje s "filler" i druga sezona narativno kao da ne zna točno kako/gdje bi nastavila priču.

Serija ide dalje od epizode do epizode u "povuci-potegni" stilu, kupujući vrijeme dok se tijekom deset epizoda malo i nimalo toga značajnoga/zanimljivoga događa.

Epizode se i dalje lako gledaju zbog 30-minutna trajanja i pojedinih redateljskih rješenja u izazivanju čudnovatog ugođaja od samog Shyamalana, njegove kćeri Ishane, te Julije Ducournau ("Sirovo") i Nimroda Antala ("Predatori"), ali ni približno s jednakim gledateljskim žarom.

Ako je "Servant" već pao u "season 2", što nas tek čeka u idućoj sezoni, pardon – sezonama. Shyamalan najavljuje da će se serija protegnuti na ukupno šest sezona.

No, nikad se ne zna. Uz malo sreće (u)slijedi novi "shyamalanovski" preokret (nabolje) u kvaliteti "Servanta".
