Za nekoliko dana navršit će se 50 godina od izlaska Sticky Fingersa, kultnog albuma The Rolling Stonesa. Album je njihovo prvo izdanje za izdavačku kuću Rolling Stones Records, a časopis Rolling Stone ga je uvrstio na 63. mjesto 500 najvećih albuma svih vremena. Osim po hitovima kao što su "Brown Sugar","Wild Horses" i "Sister Morphine", obožavatelji ga pamte po tome što se na njemu prvi put našao logo The Rolling Stonesa, žarkocrvena usta s isplaženim jezikom, znak koji je postao jedan od simbola slobode, prkosa  i rock'n'rolla.

S obzirom da je prošlo toliko vremena od izdavanja albuma nije neobično da se priča o značenju i nastanku loga iskrivila pa tako danas vlada mit da je za njega zaslužan Andy Warhol, no nije bilo tako. Umjetnik koji je dobio narudžbu za logotip benda bio je John Pasche koji je u to vrijeme pohađao posljednju godinu na Royal College of Art u Londonu, koju je menadžer Stonesa kontaktirao u potrazi za mladim umjetnicima koji bi se mogli prihvatiti te zadaće. 

Kako je umjetnik prošle godine ispričao za New York Times, Jagger je prvu Pascheovu ideju glatko odbio uz komentar: "Siguran sam da možeš bolje, Johne." Jagger je tražio da dizajn logotipa bude zasnovan na prikazu hinduističke božice Kali i pokazao je sliku tog božanstva moći, vremena i uništenja Pascheu koji se odlučio izdvojiti samo njen prepoznatljivi isplaženi jezik.

Pascheov drugi prijedlog bio je poster s Concordeovim mlažnjakom s malom verzijom logotipa na repu aviona. Bend se odlučio da će na svom briljantnom albumu iz 1971. koristiti samo taj mali logo, a za američko izdanje Sticky Fingersa, logotip je, zbog vremenskih ograničenja, morao biti poslan faksom u Sjedinjene Države Andyju Warholu i Craigu Braunu koji su dizajnirali omot albuma.

Zbog žurbe i ondašnje loše tehnike, logo je pošiljateljima stigao sav zrnast, pa ga je Braun malo preuredio, stvarajući izduženiju verziju, s drugačijim crtama na jeziku. Od tada je Braunova verzija postala službena, ali, zbog povezanosti Andyja Warhola s coverom albuma za Sticky Fingers, danas predvladava mišljenje da je kultni umjetnik dizajnirao i logo.

Bilo kako bilo, logotip s isplaženim jezikom je s vremenom postao planetarno prepoznatljiv i po svoj je prilici jedan od najuspješnijih simbola ikad osmišljenih. Stonesi su na njemu zaradili stotine milijuna dolara, našao se u bezbroj reklama, komada odjeće i drugih upotrebnih predmeta.

Nažalost, Pasche nije dobio baš pošten udio od milijuna zarađenih na osnovu njegove ideje. U početku mu je za logotip plaćeno 50 funti plus bonus od 200 funti (oko 1700 kuna) međutim, sredinom 80-ih je uspio dobiti honorar, ali bi potom svoja autorska prava prodao Stonesima za otprilike 26 000 funti (oko 230 tisuća kuna). Izvorni dizajn Johna Paschea može se razgledati u muzeju umjetnosti Victoria and Albert Museum of Art u Londonu.

Za nekoliko dana navršit će se 50 godina od izlaska Sticky Fingersa, kultnog albuma The Rolling Stonesa. Album je njihovo prvo izdanje za izdavačku kuću Rolling Stones Records, a časopis Rolling Stone ga je uvrstio na 63. mjesto 500 najvećih albuma svih vremena. Osim po hitovima kao što su "Brown Sugar","Wild Horses" i "Sister Morphine", obožavatelji ga pamte po tome što se na njemu prvi put našao logo The Rolling Stonesa, žarkocrvena usta s isplaženim jezikom, znak koji je postao jedan od simbola slobode, prkosa  i rock'n'rolla.

S obzirom da je prošlo toliko vremena od izdavanja albuma nije neobično da se priča o značenju i nastanku loga iskrivila pa tako danas vlada mit da je za njega zaslužan Andy Warhol, no nije bilo tako. Umjetnik koji je dobio narudžbu za logotip benda bio je John Pasche koji je u to vrijeme pohađao posljednju godinu na Royal College of Art u Londonu, koju je menadžer Stonesa kontaktirao u potrazi za mladim umjetnicima koji bi se mogli prihvatiti te zadaće. 

Kako je umjetnik prošle godine ispričao za New York Times, Jagger je prvu Pascheovu ideju glatko odbio uz komentar: "Siguran sam da možeš bolje, Johne." Jagger je tražio da dizajn logotipa bude zasnovan na prikazu hinduističke božice Kali i pokazao je sliku tog božanstva moći, vremena i uništenja Pascheu koji se odlučio izdvojiti samo njen prepoznatljivi isplaženi jezik.

Pascheov drugi prijedlog bio je poster s Concordeovim mlažnjakom s malom verzijom logotipa na repu aviona. Bend se odlučio da će na svom briljantnom albumu iz 1971. koristiti samo taj mali logo, a za američko izdanje Sticky Fingersa, logotip je, zbog vremenskih ograničenja, morao biti poslan faksom u Sjedinjene Države Andyju Warholu i Craigu Braunu koji su dizajnirali omot albuma.

Zbog žurbe i ondašnje loše tehnike, logo je pošiljateljima stigao sav zrnast, pa ga je Braun malo preuredio, stvarajući izduženiju verziju, s drugačijim crtama na jeziku. Od tada je Braunova verzija postala službena, ali, zbog povezanosti Andyja Warhola s coverom albuma za Sticky Fingers, danas predvladava mišljenje da je kultni umjetnik dizajnirao i logo.

Bilo kako bilo, logotip s isplaženim jezikom je s vremenom postao planetarno prepoznatljiv i po svoj je prilici jedan od najuspješnijih simbola ikad osmišljenih. Stonesi su na njemu zaradili stotine milijuna dolara, našao se u bezbroj reklama, komada odjeće i drugih upotrebnih predmeta.

Nažalost, Pasche nije dobio baš pošten udio od milijuna zarađenih na osnovu njegove ideje. U početku mu je za logotip plaćeno 50 funti plus bonus od 200 funti (oko 1700 kuna) međutim, sredinom 80-ih je uspio dobiti honorar, ali bi potom svoja autorska prava prodao Stonesima za otprilike 26 000 funti (oko 230 tisuća kuna). Izvorni dizajn Johna Paschea može se razgledati u muzeju umjetnosti Victoria and Albert Museum of Art u Londonu.

Skoro 50 godina Stonesi prkose svijetu zahvaljujući jednom od najprepoznatljivijih logotipa u povijesti, a priča o njegovom nastanku puna je preokreta

Za nekoliko dana navršit će se 50 godina od izlaska Sticky Fingersa, kultnog albuma The Rolling Stonesa. Album je njihovo prvo izdanje za izdavačku kuću Rolling Stones Records, a časopis Rolling Stone ga je uvrstio na 63. mjesto 500 najvećih albuma svih vremena. Osim po hitovima kao što su "Brown Sugar","Wild Horses" i "Sister Morphine", obožavatelji ga pamte po tome što se na njemu prvi put našao logo The Rolling Stonesa, žarkocrvena usta s isplaženim jezikom, znak koji je postao jedan od simbola slobode, prkosa  i rock'n'rolla.
