Investicijska banka JPMorgan Chase preuzela je Washington Mutual, najveću američku instituciju za zajmove i štednju čiji je kolaps obilježio najveći bankarski slom u povijesti te zemlje i dodatno pritisnuo prenapregnuti američki financijski sustav.
Preuzimanje je provedeno u okviru 1,9 milijardi dolara vrijednog sporazuma kojeg je Federalna korporacija za osiguranje depozita (FDIC) najavila u četvrtak kasno navečer.
Washington Mutual (WaMu) se našao pritisnut gubicima na investicijama u tržište nekretnina. Nakon što su mu dionice u ovoj godini izgubile 85 posto na vrijednosti, porasla su očekivanja da će postati idućom žrtvom globalne financijske krize.
JPMorgan Chase, koji je u ožujku preuzeo Bear Stearns, još jednog diva investicijskog bankarstva posrnulog pod teretom krize u američkom financijskom sektoru, preuzeo je depozite, imovinu i dio dugova te institucije sa sjedištem u Seattleu, savezna američka država Washington, s imovinom ukupne vrijednosti oko 309 milijardi dolara.
Kolaps Washington Mutuala nadmašuje prethodni najveći američki bankarski kolaps, onaj 40 milijardi dolara vrijedne Continental Illinois Bank 1984.
JPMorgan Chase najavio je prodaju dionica u vrijednosti osam milijardi dolara radi prikupljanja kapitala. Preuzimanjem WaMu, koji raspolaže depozitima vrijednim oko 188 milijardi dolara, stvorit će se najveća depozitarna institucija u SAD-u, s ukupno preko 900 milijardi dolara depozita klijenata.
- Ovaj sporazum ima vrhunskog strateškog smisla za našu tvrtku i naše dioničare - kazao je predsjednik uprave JPMorgan Chasea Jamie Dimon.
Predsjednica uprave FDIC-a Stella Blair obećala je zaštitu za sve klijente Washington Mutuala, koji se predstavljao kao banka običnih građana, usredotočena na srednji tržišni segment i malo poduzetništvo.
- Za sve vlasnike depozita i druge klijente Washington Mutuala ovdje se samo radi o spajanju dvaju banaka - kazala je ona.
- Za njih će to biti gladak prijelaz, bez ikakvih prekida - dodala je.

Investicijska banka JPMorgan Chase preuzela je Washington Mutual, najveću američku instituciju za zajmove i štednju čiji je kolaps obilježio najveći bankarski slom u povijesti te zemlje i dodatno pritisnuo prenapregnuti američki financijski sustav.
Preuzimanje je provedeno u okviru 1,9 milijardi dolara vrijednog sporazuma kojeg je Federalna korporacija za osiguranje depozita (FDIC) najavila u četvrtak kasno navečer.
Washington Mutual (WaMu) se našao pritisnut gubicima na investicijama u tržište nekretnina. Nakon što su mu dionice u ovoj godini izgubile 85 posto na vrijednosti, porasla su očekivanja da će postati idućom žrtvom globalne financijske krize.
JPMorgan Chase, koji je u ožujku preuzeo Bear Stearns, još jednog diva investicijskog bankarstva posrnulog pod teretom krize u američkom financijskom sektoru, preuzeo je depozite, imovinu i dio dugova te institucije sa sjedištem u Seattleu, savezna američka država Washington, s imovinom ukupne vrijednosti oko 309 milijardi dolara.
Kolaps Washington Mutuala nadmašuje prethodni najveći američki bankarski kolaps, onaj 40 milijardi dolara vrijedne Continental Illinois Bank 1984.
JPMorgan Chase najavio je prodaju dionica u vrijednosti osam milijardi dolara radi prikupljanja kapitala. Preuzimanjem WaMu, koji raspolaže depozitima vrijednim oko 188 milijardi dolara, stvorit će se najveća depozitarna institucija u SAD-u, s ukupno preko 900 milijardi dolara depozita klijenata.
- Ovaj sporazum ima vrhunskog strateškog smisla za našu tvrtku i naše dioničare - kazao je predsjednik uprave JPMorgan Chasea Jamie Dimon.
Predsjednica uprave FDIC-a Stella Blair obećala je zaštitu za sve klijente Washington Mutuala, koji se predstavljao kao banka običnih građana, usredotočena na srednji tržišni segment i malo poduzetništvo.
- Za sve vlasnike depozita i druge klijente Washington Mutuala ovdje se samo radi o spajanju dvaju banaka - kazala je ona.
- Za njih će to biti gladak prijelaz, bez ikakvih prekida - dodala je.
