Visok je gotovo kao Stojko Vranković. U odnosu na njega, Andrej Plenković izgleda kao patuljak. Stasom, on je sa svojih 210 centimetara vizualno dominantan bez obzira na to tko se nalazi pored njega. No, novi predsjednik SDP-a Peđa Grbin tek treba pokazati da se može nositi sa HDZ-ovim premijerom, osobom koja u ovome trenutku suvereno vlada političkom scenom u Hrvatskoj. Da posrnulim socijaldemokratima nakon tri uzastopna parlamentarna poraza ima snage udahnuti pobjednički duh. I da uistinu može postati novi lider oporbe u Hrvatskoj.

On na čelo SDP-a dolazi nakon Davora Bernardića, i to mu je, zapravo, prilično velika olakotna okolnost. Njegov prethodnik neumorno je skupljao političke partnere i gradio široke koalicije. No nitko naprosto nije vjerovao u njega kao u lidera. Ni njegovi partneri. Ni njegovi suparnici. Ni njegovi birači. Što je na koncu rezultiralo fjaskom na srpanjskim parlamentarnim izborima. Titulu prvog čovjeka oporbe nije zaradio sam; ona mu je došla po sili funkcije predsjednika najjače lijeve stranke u zemlji.

Grbin je, za razliku od Bernardića, vješt govornik. Ne lupeta gluposti. Drži se argumenata, ne izražava se rječnikom zadaćnica. On neće mahati kiselim kupusom niti buncati kako je Zagreb lijep po kiši. Grbin, naposljetku, zna što je prekarijat. Njegova startna pozicija trebala, dakle, biti puno lakša.

Grbina na čelu SDP-a ne vide samo članice i članovi te stranke. Nego i glasači. To, u slučaju Bernardićeve pobjede prije četiri godine, nije bio slučaj. I taj se raskorak provlačio tijekom čitavog njegovog mandata.

Grbin, dakako, nije bez grijeha. Voli se hvaliti svojim antifašizmom, a u trenucima kad popije čašicu više pjeva Thompsona. Javno zagovara demokratičnost, otvorenost, inkluzivnost, a kao Milanovićev protege sudjelovao je u isključivanju Aleksandre Kolarić iz SDP-a samo zato što je upozorila tadašnjeg SDP-ovog premijera da Lex Perković nije nešto na čemu socijaldemokrati smiju graditi svoju politiku. Istupio je iz SDP-a 2001. godine kada je Ivica Račan dao zeleno svjetlo da SDP u Velikoj Gorici sklopi koaliciju sa HSP-om.

Nije se previše bunio kada je Milanović kovao planove o paktu sa Branimirom Glavašem i njegovim HDSSB-om. Niti kada su Glavaševi crnokošuljaši paradirali Markovim trgom.

Grbin je, naposljetku, kandidat jednog stranačkog klana. Klana polusposobnih političara i loših ministara koji su – tijekom posljednjih pet godina – i osobno odgovorni za dva od tri uzastopna parlamentarna poraza SDP-a.

Ima, međutim, jedna važna stvar koja Grbinu ide u prilog. U jeku burnih svađa na Iblerovom trgu  u veljači 2018. godine SDP-u je stigla obavijest o ovrsi koja je najjaču oporbenu stranku prijetila srušiti na koljena. Grbin, koji je bio jedan od istaknutih Bernardićevih oponenata, u to je trenutku pokazao da je spreman gledati šire od svojeg tora. Sjeo je za stol i svojim odvjetničkim iskustvom pomogao da se sklopi sporazum koji je, u datim okolnostima, bio najmanje loš za SDP. Zbog toga su ga kritizirali „milanovićevci“ unutar SDP-a, smatrajući da trebao pustiti da kola u SDP-u krenu nizbrdo.  Grbin se nije slagao sa tim pristupom. I pokazao da mu je SDP ipak važniji od unutarstranačkih ratova.

Takav čovjek sada je dobio priliku da pomiri sukobe koji tragično razdiru SDP posljednjih deset godina. Umiri animozitete koje će prema njemu imati Bernardićevi ljudi u saborskom klubu zastupnika SDP-a. NAđe modus operandi sa Glavnim odborom SDP-a u kojem većinu ne čine njegovi ljudi. I uvjeri birače da će njegova stranka bolje zastupati njihove interese od, recimo, ambiciozne lijeve platforme Možemo.

Pred novim predsjednikom SDP-a dug je put. Prvo da ujedini SDP. Potom da se idejama i nastupom nametne kao vođa lijevo-liberalne oporbe. Ono što se iz njegovog pobjedničkog govora da razaznati jest da Grbin naslućuje u čemu su pogriješili njegovi prethodnici. I da te greške ne namjerava ponoviti. Da ne namjerava biti ni politički patuljak niti drski kafandžija. Nego ozbiljan predsjednik ozbiljne stranke u ozbiljnim vremenima. Koja birače privlači, a ne od sebe tjera.

Visok je gotovo kao Stojko Vranković. U odnosu na njega, Andrej Plenković izgleda kao patuljak. Stasom, on je sa svojih 210 centimetara vizualno dominantan bez obzira na to tko se nalazi pored njega. No, novi predsjednik SDP-a Peđa Grbin tek treba pokazati da se može nositi sa HDZ-ovim premijerom, osobom koja u ovome trenutku suvereno vlada političkom scenom u Hrvatskoj. Da posrnulim socijaldemokratima nakon tri uzastopna parlamentarna poraza ima snage udahnuti pobjednički duh. I da uistinu može postati novi lider oporbe u Hrvatskoj.

On na čelo SDP-a dolazi nakon Davora Bernardića, i to mu je, zapravo, prilično velika olakotna okolnost. Njegov prethodnik neumorno je skupljao političke partnere i gradio široke koalicije. No nitko naprosto nije vjerovao u njega kao u lidera. Ni njegovi partneri. Ni njegovi suparnici. Ni njegovi birači. Što je na koncu rezultiralo fjaskom na srpanjskim parlamentarnim izborima. Titulu prvog čovjeka oporbe nije zaradio sam; ona mu je došla po sili funkcije predsjednika najjače lijeve stranke u zemlji.

Grbin je, za razliku od Bernardića, vješt govornik. Ne lupeta gluposti. Drži se argumenata, ne izražava se rječnikom zadaćnica. On neće mahati kiselim kupusom niti buncati kako je Zagreb lijep po kiši. Grbin, naposljetku, zna što je prekarijat. Njegova startna pozicija trebala, dakle, biti puno lakša.

Grbina na čelu SDP-a ne vide samo članice i članovi te stranke. Nego i glasači. To, u slučaju Bernardićeve pobjede prije četiri godine, nije bio slučaj. I taj se raskorak provlačio tijekom čitavog njegovog mandata.

Grbin, dakako, nije bez grijeha. Voli se hvaliti svojim antifašizmom, a u trenucima kad popije čašicu više pjeva Thompsona. Javno zagovara demokratičnost, otvorenost, inkluzivnost, a kao Milanovićev protege sudjelovao je u isključivanju Aleksandre Kolarić iz SDP-a samo zato što je upozorila tadašnjeg SDP-ovog premijera da Lex Perković nije nešto na čemu socijaldemokrati smiju graditi svoju politiku. Istupio je iz SDP-a 2001. godine kada je Ivica Račan dao zeleno svjetlo da SDP u Velikoj Gorici sklopi koaliciju sa HSP-om.

Nije se previše bunio kada je Milanović kovao planove o paktu sa Branimirom Glavašem i njegovim HDSSB-om. Niti kada su Glavaševi crnokošuljaši paradirali Markovim trgom.

Grbin je, naposljetku, kandidat jednog stranačkog klana. Klana polusposobnih političara i loših ministara koji su – tijekom posljednjih pet godina – i osobno odgovorni za dva od tri uzastopna parlamentarna poraza SDP-a.

Ima, međutim, jedna važna stvar koja Grbinu ide u prilog. U jeku burnih svađa na Iblerovom trgu  u veljači 2018. godine SDP-u je stigla obavijest o ovrsi koja je najjaču oporbenu stranku prijetila srušiti na koljena. Grbin, koji je bio jedan od istaknutih Bernardićevih oponenata, u to je trenutku pokazao da je spreman gledati šire od svojeg tora. Sjeo je za stol i svojim odvjetničkim iskustvom pomogao da se sklopi sporazum koji je, u datim okolnostima, bio najmanje loš za SDP. Zbog toga su ga kritizirali „milanovićevci“ unutar SDP-a, smatrajući da trebao pustiti da kola u SDP-u krenu nizbrdo.  Grbin se nije slagao sa tim pristupom. I pokazao da mu je SDP ipak važniji od unutarstranačkih ratova.

Takav čovjek sada je dobio priliku da pomiri sukobe koji tragično razdiru SDP posljednjih deset godina. Umiri animozitete koje će prema njemu imati Bernardićevi ljudi u saborskom klubu zastupnika SDP-a. NAđe modus operandi sa Glavnim odborom SDP-a u kojem većinu ne čine njegovi ljudi. I uvjeri birače da će njegova stranka bolje zastupati njihove interese od, recimo, ambiciozne lijeve platforme Možemo.

Pred novim predsjednikom SDP-a dug je put. Prvo da ujedini SDP. Potom da se idejama i nastupom nametne kao vođa lijevo-liberalne oporbe. Ono što se iz njegovog pobjedničkog govora da razaznati jest da Grbin naslućuje u čemu su pogriješili njegovi prethodnici. I da te greške ne namjerava ponoviti. Da ne namjerava biti ni politički patuljak niti drski kafandžija. Nego ozbiljan predsjednik ozbiljne stranke u ozbiljnim vremenima. Koja birače privlači, a ne od sebe tjera.
