 Američki ministar obrane Lloyd Austin izjavio je kako je "nesretno" što je Kina odbila američku ponudu za razgovor na obrambenom summitu ovog tjedna u Singapuru te da bi stalni nedostatak komunikacije mogao rezultirati "incidentom koji bi vrlo, vrlo brzo mogao izmaknuti kontroli".

"Čuli ste me kako sam nekoliko puta govorio o važnosti da zemlje s velikim, značajnim sposobnostima, mogu razgovarati jedna s drugom kako bi mogli upravljati krizama i spriječiti da stvari nepotrebno izmaknu kontroli", rekao je Austin na tiskovnoj konferenciji s japanskim ministrom obrane Yasukazuom Hamadom u četvrtak u Japanu, kako prenosi CNN.

"I ako pogledamo neke od stvari koje Kina radi u međunarodnom zračnom prostoru u regiji i međunarodnim vodenim putovima, provokativna presretanja naših zrakoplova i također zrakoplova naših saveznika, to je vrlo zabrinjavajuće i nadali smo se da će promijeniti svoje postupke. No, budući da još nisu, zabrinut sam da će u nekom trenutku doći do incidenta koji bi vrlo, vrlo brzo mogao izmaknuti kontroli", rekao je Austin, dodajući da bi "pozdravio svaku priliku za suradnju" s kineskim vodstvom, prenosi Jutarnji list.

Pentagon je ranije ovog tjedna priopćio da je Peking odbio američki prijedlog sastanka Austina sa svojim kineskim kolegom Li Shangfuom na sigurnosnom forumu Shangri-La Dialogue u Singapuru ovog tjedna. Kinesko ministarstvo obrane okrivilo je SAD zbog toga, poručivši da je odgovornost za stalne napetosti između oružanih snaga dviju zemalja "isključivo na američkoj strani".

Austinovi komentari dolaze nakon što je kineski predsjednik Xi Jinping rekao kineskim dužnosnicima za nacionalnu sigurnost da razmisle o "najgorem mogućem" scenariju i pripreme se za "olujno more", dok vladajuća Komunistička partija pojačava svoje napore da se suprotstavi bilo kakvim unutarnjim i vanjskim prijetnjama.

Odnosi između dviju zemalja sve su zategnutiji posljednjih mjeseci, posebno nakon putovanja bivše predsjednice Zastupničkog doma Nancy Pelosi na samoupravni otok Tajvan prošlog kolovoza - koji Kina smatra svojim teritorijem - i američkog obaranja kineskog špijunskog balona koji je letio iznad američkih vojnih lokacija u veljači, piše Jutarnji list.

 Američki ministar obrane Lloyd Austin izjavio je kako je "nesretno" što je Kina odbila američku ponudu za razgovor na obrambenom summitu ovog tjedna u Singapuru te da bi stalni nedostatak komunikacije mogao rezultirati "incidentom koji bi vrlo, vrlo brzo mogao izmaknuti kontroli".

"Čuli ste me kako sam nekoliko puta govorio o važnosti da zemlje s velikim, značajnim sposobnostima, mogu razgovarati jedna s drugom kako bi mogli upravljati krizama i spriječiti da stvari nepotrebno izmaknu kontroli", rekao je Austin na tiskovnoj konferenciji s japanskim ministrom obrane Yasukazuom Hamadom u četvrtak u Japanu, kako prenosi CNN.

"I ako pogledamo neke od stvari koje Kina radi u međunarodnom zračnom prostoru u regiji i međunarodnim vodenim putovima, provokativna presretanja naših zrakoplova i također zrakoplova naših saveznika, to je vrlo zabrinjavajuće i nadali smo se da će promijeniti svoje postupke. No, budući da još nisu, zabrinut sam da će u nekom trenutku doći do incidenta koji bi vrlo, vrlo brzo mogao izmaknuti kontroli", rekao je Austin, dodajući da bi "pozdravio svaku priliku za suradnju" s kineskim vodstvom, prenosi Jutarnji list.

Pentagon je ranije ovog tjedna priopćio da je Peking odbio američki prijedlog sastanka Austina sa svojim kineskim kolegom Li Shangfuom na sigurnosnom forumu Shangri-La Dialogue u Singapuru ovog tjedna. Kinesko ministarstvo obrane okrivilo je SAD zbog toga, poručivši da je odgovornost za stalne napetosti između oružanih snaga dviju zemalja "isključivo na američkoj strani".

 Američki ministar obrane Lloyd Austin izjavio je kako je "nesretno" što je Kina odbila američku ponudu za razgovor na obrambenom summitu ovog tjedna u Singapuru te da bi stalni nedostatak komunikacije mogao rezultirati "incidentom koji bi vrlo, vrlo brzo mogao izmaknuti kontroli".

"Čuli ste me kako sam nekoliko puta govorio o važnosti da zemlje s velikim, značajnim sposobnostima, mogu razgovarati jedna s drugom kako bi mogli upravljati krizama i spriječiti da stvari nepotrebno izmaknu kontroli", rekao je Austin na tiskovnoj konferenciji s japanskim ministrom obrane Yasukazuom Hamadom u četvrtak u Japanu, kako prenosi CNN.

"I ako pogledamo neke od stvari koje Kina radi u međunarodnom zračnom prostoru u regiji i međunarodnim vodenim putovima, provokativna presretanja naših zrakoplova i također zrakoplova naših saveznika, to je vrlo zabrinjavajuće i nadali smo se da će promijeniti svoje postupke. No, budući da još nisu, zabrinut sam da će u nekom trenutku doći do incidenta koji bi vrlo, vrlo brzo mogao izmaknuti kontroli", rekao je Austin, dodajući da bi "pozdravio svaku priliku za suradnju" s kineskim vodstvom, prenosi Jutarnji list.

Pentagon je ranije ovog tjedna priopćio da je Peking odbio američki prijedlog sastanka Austina sa svojim kineskim kolegom Li Shangfuom na sigurnosnom forumu Shangri-La Dialogue u Singapuru ovog tjedna. Kinesko ministarstvo obrane okrivilo je SAD zbog toga, poručivši da je odgovornost za stalne napetosti između oružanih snaga dviju zemalja "isključivo na američkoj strani".
