Asteroid promjera 190 metara, čiji bi udar izazvao uništenje veće nego atomska bomba, leti prema Zemlji i približit će joj se 27. prosinca.

Asteroid koji se približava nazvan je 2018 AH. Zabilježio ga je NASA-in sustav za praćenje asteroida. Ne bi trebao pogoditi naš planet, već mu se približiti na udaljenost od 4,5 milijuna kilometara, što je oko 12 puta dalje od Mjeseca, navodi 'Jerusalem Post', a prenosi Sputnik.

Ovaj asteroid već se jednom približavao Zemlji, i to na mnogo manjoj distanci.

On je 2018. godine proletjeo na udaljenosti od 296.758 kilometara, što je samo tri četvrtine udaljenosti od Zemlje do Mjeseca. Tada se približio neprimijećen, astronomi ga nisu vidjeli sve dok nije prošao pored Zemlje.

Našem se planetu još od tad nije približio veći asteroid, a ni ne očekuje se sve do 2028. godine, kada bi trebalo da stići golemi, skoro kilometar dug 2001 WN5. Ipak, ne očekuje se ni da on udari Zemlju, već da joj priđe na 249.000 kilometara.

Asteroid 2018 AH koji nam se trenutno približava imao bi veliku razornu moć kad bi pogodio Zemlju, a znanstvenici njegovu snagu uspoređuju s Tunguskom eksplozijom u Rusiji 1908. godine, jer se vjeruje da je i nju izazvao asteroid slične veličine.

Prema procjenama znanstvenika, eksplozija takvog asteroida u zraku izazvala bi udar od 12 megatona, što je 800 puta više nego atomska bomba bačena na Hirošimu.

Eksplozija koju je izazvao asteroid kod Tunguske odnio je, srećom, mali broj žrtava. Pretpostavlja se da ih je bilo troje. S druge strane, uništeno je više od 2.000 kvadratnih kilometara površine, uglavnom šume, pošto se radilo o području koje je tada bilo veoma slabo naseljeno.

Udarni val koji se proširio obišao je cijeli planet, a eksplozija se čula stotinama kilometara daleko. Očevici, udaljeni desetinama kilometara od mjesta Tunguske eksplozije, tada su ispričali da je sve izgledalo "kao da se nebo otvorilo i iz njega se pojavila vatra".

Tunguska eksplozija najjača je ikad zabilježena, iako je bilo većih događaja u pretpovijesti.

NASA upozorava da bi svaki asteroid promjera većeg od 140 metara mogao imati katastrofalne posledice po Zemlju.

Zbog toga je ta svemirska agencija nedavno lansirala svemirsku letelicu "Dart" u probnu misiju skretanja putanje asteroida koji predstavljaju potencijalnu ili realnu opasnost za Zemlju, piše Sputnik.

Asteroid promjera 190 metara, čiji bi udar izazvao uništenje veće nego atomska bomba, leti prema Zemlji i približit će joj se 27. prosinca.

Asteroid koji se približava nazvan je 2018 AH. Zabilježio ga je NASA-in sustav za praćenje asteroida. Ne bi trebao pogoditi naš planet, već mu se približiti na udaljenost od 4,5 milijuna kilometara, što je oko 12 puta dalje od Mjeseca, navodi 'Jerusalem Post', a prenosi Sputnik.

Ovaj asteroid već se jednom približavao Zemlji, i to na mnogo manjoj distanci.

On je 2018. godine proletjeo na udaljenosti od 296.758 kilometara, što je samo tri četvrtine udaljenosti od Zemlje do Mjeseca. Tada se približio neprimijećen, astronomi ga nisu vidjeli sve dok nije prošao pored Zemlje.

Našem se planetu još od tad nije približio veći asteroid, a ni ne očekuje se sve do 2028. godine, kada bi trebalo da stići golemi, skoro kilometar dug 2001 WN5. Ipak, ne očekuje se ni da on udari Zemlju, već da joj priđe na 249.000 kilometara.

Asteroid 2018 AH koji nam se trenutno približava imao bi veliku razornu moć kad bi pogodio Zemlju, a znanstvenici njegovu snagu uspoređuju s Tunguskom eksplozijom u Rusiji 1908. godine, jer se vjeruje da je i nju izazvao asteroid slične veličine.

Prema procjenama znanstvenika, eksplozija takvog asteroida u zraku izazvala bi udar od 12 megatona, što je 800 puta više nego atomska bomba bačena na Hirošimu.

Eksplozija koju je izazvao asteroid kod Tunguske odnio je, srećom, mali broj žrtava. Pretpostavlja se da ih je bilo troje. S druge strane, uništeno je više od 2.000 kvadratnih kilometara površine, uglavnom šume, pošto se radilo o području koje je tada bilo veoma slabo naseljeno.

Udarni val koji se proširio obišao je cijeli planet, a eksplozija se čula stotinama kilometara daleko. Očevici, udaljeni desetinama kilometara od mjesta Tunguske eksplozije, tada su ispričali da je sve izgledalo "kao da se nebo otvorilo i iz njega se pojavila vatra".

Tunguska eksplozija najjača je ikad zabilježena, iako je bilo većih događaja u pretpovijesti.

NASA upozorava da bi svaki asteroid promjera većeg od 140 metara mogao imati katastrofalne posledice po Zemlju.

Zbog toga je ta svemirska agencija nedavno lansirala svemirsku letelicu "Dart" u probnu misiju skretanja putanje asteroida koji predstavljaju potencijalnu ili realnu opasnost za Zemlju, piše Sputnik.

Golemi asteroid približava se Zemlji: udar bi bio čak 800 puta jači nego eksplozija atomske bombe

Asteroid promjera 190 metara, čiji bi udar izazvao uništenje veće nego atomska bomba, leti prema Zemlji i približit će joj se 27. prosinca.

Asteroid koji se približava nazvan je 2018 AH. Zabilježio ga je NASA-in sustav za praćenje asteroida. Ne bi trebao pogoditi naš planet, već mu se približiti na udaljenost od 4,5 milijuna kilometara, što je oko 12 puta dalje od Mjeseca, navodi 'Jerusalem Post', a prenosi Sputnik.

Ovaj asteroid već se jednom približavao Zemlji, i to na mnogo manjoj distanci.

On je 2018. godine proletjeo na udaljenosti od 296.758 kilometara, što je samo tri četvrtine udaljenosti od Zemlje do Mjeseca. Tada se približio neprimijećen, astronomi ga nisu vidjeli sve dok nije prošao pored Zemlje.

Našem se planetu još od tad nije približio veći a...
