Merkel iduće godine odlazi, a u bitci za njenog nasljednika sve više iskače jedno novo ime.

Čestitam Angeli Merkel na 15 godina na položaju njemačke kancelarke. Kancelarka Merkel poduzela je odlučne korake kako bi ojačala Europu u izazovnim vremenima i danas je jedan od najcjenjenijih lidera na svijetu."

Ovim je riječima druga moćna žena EU, predsjednica Europske središnje banke Christine Lagarde, čestitala Angeli Merkel veliku obljetnicu. Nitko osim Helmuta Kohla nije u poslijeratnoj Njemačkoj tako dugo bio na vlasti: u nedjelju se navršilo 15 godina otkako je Angela Merkel, kao prva žena na toj dužnosti, preuzela kancelarsku funkciju.

Merkel na svojoj poziciji namjerava ostati do kraja mandata sljedeće godine. "Vječita kancelarka" nakon toga će se, kako je sama najavila, povući iz politike.

Apeli Angeli Merkel da još jednom promisli o svojoj odluci o povlačenju postali su glasniji tijekom pandemije koronavirusa, kada se još jednom pokazala kao pragmatična i odlučna političarka koja svoju zemlju uspješno vodi kroz povijesnu krizu, a bilo je i informacija da je planirala ostati na položaju u slučaju da Donald Trump pobijedi na izborima.

Angela Merkel rođena je 1954. u Hamburgu, kao Angela Kasner, u obitelji protestantskog svećenika koji je obitelj preselio u Demokratsku Republiku Njemačku (DDR, Istočnu Njemačku) kako bi pomogao da vjerski život u "zemlji radnika i seljaka" ne zamre u potpunosti.

Angela je 1986. nakon studijskih boravaka u Rusiji doktorirala fiziku i vodila miran život znanstvenice sve do događaja koji su prethodili padu Berlinskog zida. Tada ulazi u članstvo Kršćansko-demokratske unije (CDU) i vrlo brzo postaje Kohlova štićenica. On joj je krčio karijerni put, a nazvao ju je "Mädchen" ("Djevojčica").

Taj se odnos lomi nakon izbornog poraza 1998. godine, kada su se pojavile vijesti o malverzacijama u stranci. Merkel bez milosti okreće leđa Kohlu i 2000. godine preuzima vodstvo nad CDU-om. "Dječacima iz Berlina", a to se prije svega odnosi na Wolfganga Schäublea, sadašnjeg predsjednika Bundestaga, donjeg doma njemačkog parlamenta, to se nije sviđalo. Bili su uvjereni da će Merkel ubrzo propasti, ali to se nije dogodilo.

Na izborima 2005. preuzima kancelarsku funkciju i odstranjuje i drugog moćnog "dječaka", Friedricha Merza, koji se sada vraća u politiku iz visokog biznisa sa željom da preuzme stranku.

"Dječaci" joj zamjeraju što je u tri koalicijske vlade sa SPD-om stranku previše odvela ulijevo od desnog centra. Nisu je uspjeli srušiti tijekom izbjegličke krize 2015. godine, ali su počeli pripremati teren za to. Nakon saveznih parlamentarnih izbora 2017. smatrali su da je dovoljno oslabila, posebno zato što je morala ući u novu koaliciju sa SPD-om, pa su pričekali jesen 2018. godine i loše rezultate na izborima u saveznoj državi Hessen, koji su uslijedili nakon loših rezultata sestrinske Kršćansko-socijalne unije (CSU) u Bavarskoj.

U tom je trenutku radikalno desna stranka Alternativa za Njemačku (AfD) snažno rasla na populističkom valu i "dječaci" su pripremili plan da smijene Merkel.

Ona je za to saznala i preduhitrila ih: dala je ostavku na mjesto predsjednice stranke, ali ostala kancelarka. Krajem godine za predsjednicu CDU-a izabrana je njezina štićenica Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer. No, rat se nastavio i nakon što je stranački vrh u saveznoj državi Tirinškoj odbio izričit nalog predsjednice da ne sudjeluju u destrukciji vlasti s AfD-om, Kramp-Karrenbauer daje ostavku.

Ali, čelno je mjesto i dalje prazno: stranački kongres s proljeća je, zbog epidemije, prvo pomaknut na prosinac, a zatim na siječanj iduće godine. Merz smatra da su mu vrata otvorena jer ima podršku vrha stranke, a druga dva kandidata imaju ozbiljne probleme: Armin Laschet je predsjednik najveće savezne države, Sjeverne Rajne - Vestfalije, ali smatraju da bi njegov izbor bio Merkel nakon Merkel. Tako da mogući sukob dvojice vodećih kandidata otvara prostor trećem: Norbert Röttgen je CDU-ov stručnjak za vanjsku politiku i mogao bi, kao u izboru za papu, iskočiti kao kompromisno rješenje.

Jedno je već sada jasno: nakon izbora, najkasnije u rujnu iduće godine, CDU će i dalje biti najjača stranka u zemlji. Ali, birači će pomno pratiti lidera koji bi mogao postati kancelar. Merz do sada, osim silne ambicije da postane predsjednikom CDU-a, nije pokazao ništa više. Odgodu stranačkog kongresa u prosincu je doživio kao izravni napad i javno tvrdio da je ta odluka donesena samo kako bi se njemu onemogućilo da dođe na vlast.

Budući predsjednik CDU-a nije samo unutarnje njemačko pitanje. Riječ je o osobi koja će preuzeti vodeću poziciju u EU u vrlo osjetljivom razdoblju ekonomskog oporavka, redefiniranja Unije na unutarnjem i globalnom planu.

Merkel je bila majstorica u postizanju kompromisa između sjevera i juga, čak i istoka i zapada. I sada se suočava s najvećim izazovom, mađarskom i poljskom blokadom proračuna EU. Europski mediji gotovo jednoglasno navode da jedino Merkel može pronaći izlaz iz ove situacije. Kako bi se snašao Merz, koji nije spreman na kompromis?

Njemačka je tijekom krize prigrlila natrag svoju "Mutti". I nije isključeno da bi najradije da ostane i dalje u kancelarskom uredu.

Merkel iduće godine odlazi, a u bitci za njenog nasljednika sve više iskače jedno novo ime.

Čestitam Angeli Merkel na 15 godina na položaju njemačke kancelarke. Kancelarka Merkel poduzela je odlučne korake kako bi ojačala Europu u izazovnim vremenima i danas je jedan od najcjenjenijih lidera na svijetu."

Ovim je riječima druga moćna žena EU, predsjednica Europske središnje banke Christine Lagarde, čestitala Angeli Merkel veliku obljetnicu. Nitko osim Helmuta Kohla nije u poslijeratnoj Njemačkoj tako dugo bio na vlasti: u nedjelju se navršilo 15 godina otkako je Angela Merkel, kao prva žena na toj dužnosti, preuzela kancelarsku funkciju.

Merkel na svojoj poziciji namjerava ostati do kraja mandata sljedeće godine. "Vječita kancelarka" nakon toga će se, kako je sama najavila, povući iz politike.

Apeli Angeli Merkel da još jednom promisli o svojoj odluci o povlačenju postali su glasniji tijekom pandemije koronavirusa, kada se još jednom pokazala kao pragmatična i odlučna političarka koja svoju zemlju uspješno vodi kroz povijesnu krizu, a bilo je i informacija da je planirala ostati na položaju u slučaju da Donald Trump pobijedi na izborima.

Angela Merkel rođena je 1954. u Hamburgu, kao Angela Kasner, u obitelji protestantskog svećenika koji je obitelj preselio u Demokratsku Republiku Njemačku (DDR, Istočnu Njemačku) kako bi pomogao da vjerski život u "zemlji radnika i seljaka" ne zamre u potpunosti.

Angela je 1986. nakon studijskih boravaka u Rusiji doktorirala fiziku i vodila miran život znanstvenice sve do događaja koji su prethodili padu Berlinskog zida. Tada ulazi u članstvo Kršćansko-demokratske unije (CDU) i vrlo brzo postaje Kohlova štićenica. On joj je krčio karijerni put, a nazvao ju je "Mädchen" ("Djevojčica").

Taj se odnos lomi nakon izbornog poraza 1998. godine, kada su se pojavile vijesti o malverzacijama u stranci. Merkel bez milosti okreće leđa Kohlu i 2000. godine preuzima vodstvo nad CDU-om. "Dječacima iz Berlina", a to se prije svega odnosi na Wolfganga Schäublea, sadašnjeg predsjednika Bundestaga, donjeg doma njemačkog parlamenta, to se nije sviđalo. Bili su uvjereni da će Merkel ubrzo propasti, ali to se nije dogodilo.

Na izborima 2005. preuzima kancelarsku funkciju i odstranjuje i drugog moćnog "dječaka", Friedricha Merza, koji se sada vraća u politiku iz visokog biznisa sa željom da preuzme stranku.

"Dječaci" joj zamjeraju što je u tri koalicijske vlade sa SPD-om stranku previše odvela ulijevo od desnog centra. Nisu je uspjeli srušiti tijekom izbjegličke krize 2015. godine, ali su počeli pripremati teren za to. Nakon saveznih parlamentarnih izbora 2017. smatrali su da je dovoljno oslabila, posebno zato što je morala ući u novu koaliciju sa SPD-om, pa su pričekali jesen 2018. godine i loše rezultate na izborima u saveznoj državi Hessen, koji su uslijedili nakon loših rezultata sestrinske Kršćansko-socijalne unije (CSU) u Bavarskoj.

U tom je trenutku radikalno desna stranka Alternativa za Njemačku (AfD) snažno rasla na populističkom valu i "dječaci" su pripremili plan da smijene Merkel.

Ona je za to saznala i preduhitrila ih: dala je ostavku na mjesto predsjednice stranke, ali ostala kancelarka. Krajem godine za predsjednicu CDU-a izabrana je njezina štićenica Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer. No, rat se nastavio i nakon što je stranački vrh u saveznoj državi Tirinškoj odbio izričit nalog predsjednice da ne sudjeluju u destrukciji vlasti s AfD-om, Kramp-Karrenbauer daje ostavku.

Ali, čelno je mjesto i dalje prazno: stranački kongres s proljeća je, zbog epidemije, prvo pomaknut na prosinac, a zatim na siječanj iduće godine. Merz smatra da su mu vrata otvorena jer ima podršku vrha stranke, a druga dva kandidata imaju ozbiljne probleme: Armin Laschet je predsjednik najveće savezne države, Sjeverne Rajne - Vestfalije, ali smatraju da bi njegov izbor bio Merkel nakon Merkel. Tako da mogući sukob dvojice vodećih kandidata otvara prostor trećem: Norbert Röttgen je CDU-ov stručnjak za vanjsku politiku i mogao bi, kao u izboru za papu, iskočiti kao kompromisno rješenje.

Jedno je već sada jasno: nakon izbora, najkasnije u rujnu iduće godine, CDU će i dalje biti najjača stranka u zemlji. Ali, birači će pomno pratiti lidera koji bi mogao postati kancelar. Merz do sada, osim silne ambicije da postane predsjednikom CDU-a, nije pokazao ništa više. Odgodu stranačkog kongresa u prosincu je doživio kao izravni napad i javno tvrdio da je ta odluka donesena samo kako bi se njemu onemogućilo da dođe na vlast.

Budući predsjednik CDU-a nije samo unutarnje njemačko pitanje. Riječ je o osobi koja će preuzeti vodeću poziciju u EU u vrlo osjetljivom razdoblju ekonomskog oporavka, redefiniranja Unije na unutarnjem i globalnom planu.

Merkel je bila majstorica u postizanju kompromisa između sjevera i juga, čak i istoka i zapada. I sada se suočava s najvećim izazovom, mađarskom i poljskom blokadom proračuna EU. Europski mediji gotovo jednoglasno navode da jedino Merkel može pronaći izlaz iz ove situacije. Kako bi se snašao Merz, koji nije spreman na kompromis?

Njemačka je tijekom krize prigrlila natrag svoju "Mutti". I nije isključeno da bi najradije da ostane i dalje u kancelarskom uredu.
