Unatoč jasno izrečenom javnom protivljenju njemačke kancelarke Angele Merkel, koja je prošli tjedan izjavila da se ne namjerava cijepiti AstraZenecom jer za njezinu dob to cjepivo nije preporučeno, sve je izglednije da će Njemačka ipak promijeniti tu odluku. Njemačka komisija za cjepiva trenutno preispituje svoju preporuku o cijepljenju AstraZeneca/Oxford cjepivom i za starije od 65 godina.
Kao što je poznato u skladištima propadaju zalihe AstraZenece, a tisuće Nijemaca nije došlo na dogovoreni termin cijepljenja kad su saznali da ih planiraju cijepiti ovim cjepivom.
Međutim, novo škotsko istraživanje o učinkovitosti cjepiva pokazuje da je ono djelotvorno i za stariju populaciju.
Prvu studiju na nacionalnom uzorku proveli su Sveučilište u Edinburghu i Zavod za javno zdravstvo Škotske, a prema njemu je već nakon prve doze postignuta zaštita od hospitalizacije u visini 94 posto. Riječ je o podacima koji su objavljeni 22. veljače u takozvanom pre-print, nerecenziranom obliku. Zaključci se temelje na podacima od 1.14 milijuna cijepljenja u Škotskoj. Većina cijepljenih Oxford/AstraZenecinim cjepivom, a koje je studija obuhvatila, imali su više od 80 godina, a pokazal ose da je učinkovitost cjepiva usporediva s učinkovitošću u bilo kojoj drugoj promatranoj skupini. Kompanija AstraZeneca tvrdi kako su ovi podaci dokaz da cjepivo štiti od ozbiljnih posljedica infekcije, pogotovo kod starije populacije koja je u najvišem riziku.
Uz to, pokazalo se da se najveća učinkovitost cjepiva postigla u vremenu između 28. i 34. dana od prve doze.
Thomas Mertens, predsjednik njemačkog povjerenstva za cijepljenje izjavio je za televiziju ZDF da će vrlo brzo izdati modificiranu preporuku, a kao jedan od ključnih razloga za preispitivanje odluke naveo je upravo istraživanje iz Škotske.
Čelnik Njemačkog imunološkog društva, Carsten Watzl koji je i sam starije dobi, smatra da će njemački regulatori morati promijeniti odluku da se starijima ne preporučuje cijepljenje tim cjepivom. Trenutno Njemačka komisija za cijepljenje razmišlja o produženju roka za primanje druge doze cjepiva mRNK na 60 ili čak na 90 dana. Možda bi do toga moglo doći vrlo brzo zajedno s preporukom novog cjepiva proizvođača Johnson&Johnson čije se odobrenje u EU očekuje za koji tjedan. Brže cijepljenje znači spašavanje ljudskih života, ali i popuštanje mjera za suzbijanje pandemije kojima su ograničene ljudske slobode.
Dirk Brockmann, znanstvenik s berlinskog Sveučilišta Humboldt u svojoj studiji navodi da bi se produženjem roka za davanje druge doze moglo spasiti 10 000 do 15 000 života.
„U scenariju u kojem se nazire treći val pandemija mogli bi mnogo više ljudi iz rizičnih grupa zaštititi od teškog tijeka bolesti i smrti – naveo je znanstvenik. Njemačka je potvrdila više od 2,4 milijuna slučajeva koronavirusa od početka pandemije i nešto više od 70.000 smrtnih slučajeva.

Unatoč jasno izrečenom javnom protivljenju njemačke kancelarke Angele Merkel, koja je prošli tjedan izjavila da se ne namjerava cijepiti AstraZenecom jer za njezinu dob to cjepivo nije preporučeno, sve je izglednije da će Njemačka ipak promijeniti tu odluku. Njemačka komisija za cjepiva trenutno preispituje svoju preporuku o cijepljenju AstraZeneca/Oxford cjepivom i za starije od 65 godina.
Kao što je poznato u skladištima propadaju zalihe AstraZenece, a tisuće Nijemaca nije došlo na dogovoreni termin cijepljenja kad su saznali da ih planiraju cijepiti ovim cjepivom.
Međutim, novo škotsko istraživanje o učinkovitosti cjepiva pokazuje da je ono djelotvorno i za stariju populaciju.
Prvu studiju na nacionalnom uzorku proveli su Sveučilište u Edinburghu i Zavod za javno zdravstvo Škotske, a prema njemu je već nakon prve doze postignuta zaštita od hospitalizacije u visini 94 posto. Riječ je o podacima koji su objavljeni 22. veljače u takozvanom pre-print, nerecenziranom obliku. Zaključci se temelje na podacima od 1.14 milijuna cijepljenja u Škotskoj. Većina cijepljenih Oxford/AstraZenecinim cjepivom, a koje je studija obuhvatila, imali su više od 80 godina, a pokazal ose da je učinkovitost cjepiva usporediva s učinkovitošću u bilo kojoj drugoj promatranoj skupini. Kompanija AstraZeneca tvrdi kako su ovi podaci dokaz da cjepivo štiti od ozbiljnih posljedica infekcije, pogotovo kod starije populacije koja je u najvišem riziku.
Uz to, pokazalo se da se najveća učinkovitost cjepiva postigla u vremenu između 28. i 34. dana od prve doze.
Thomas Mertens, predsjednik njemačkog povjerenstva za cijepljenje izjavio je za televiziju ZDF da će vrlo brzo izdati modificiranu preporuku, a kao jedan od ključnih razloga za preispitivanje odluke naveo je upravo istraživanje iz Škotske.
Čelnik Njemačkog imunološkog društva, Carsten Watzl koji je i sam starije dobi, smatra da će njemački regulatori morati promijeniti odluku da se starijima ne preporučuje cijepljenje tim cjepivom. Trenutno Njemačka komisija za cijepljenje razmišlja o produženju roka za primanje druge doze cjepiva mRNK na 60 ili čak na 90 dana. Možda bi do toga moglo doći vrlo brzo zajedno s preporukom novog cjepiva proizvođača Johnson&Johnson čije se odobrenje u EU očekuje za koji tjedan. Brže cijepljenje znači spašavanje ljudskih života, ali i popuštanje mjera za suzbijanje pandemije kojima su ograničene ljudske slobode.
Dirk Brockmann, znanstvenik s berlinskog Sveučilišta Humboldt u svojoj studiji navodi da bi se produženjem roka za davanje druge doze moglo spasiti 10 000 do 15 000 života.
„U scenariju u kojem se nazire treći val pandemija mogli bi mnogo više ljudi iz rizičnih grupa zaštititi od teškog tijeka bolesti i smrti – naveo je znanstvenik. Njemačka je potvrdila više od 2,4 milijuna slučajeva koronavirusa od početka pandemije i nešto više od 70.000 smrtnih slučajeva.
