Britanski pisac Salman Rushdie u subotu je i dalje u bolnici u teškom stanju, dan nakon što je više puta uboden nožem na književnom okupljanju u državi New York, dok se njegov napadač na sudu izjasnio da se ne osjeća krivim. Ipak, njegov agent Andrew Wylie priopćio je da su ga skinuli s respiratora te da ponovno može pričati.

Optuženi napadač, 24-godišnji Hadi Matar iz Fairviewa u New Jerseyju, na sudu se u subotu izjasnio da se ne osjeća krivim, objavio je njegov odvjetnik po službenoj dužnosti Nathaniel Barone. Hadar je optužen za pokušaj ubojstva i nanošenje teških tjelesnih ozljeda.

Rushdie (75), kojem je glava ucijenjena otkako je 1989. objavio "Sotonske stihove" spremao se održati predavanje u Chautauqui, na zapadu države New York, kad je na njega nožem nasrnuo Matar i ubo ga više puta.

Po okružnom tužitelju Jasonu Schmidtu, Rushdie je uboden triput u vrat i četiri puta u trbuh. Probodeno mu je i oko.

Pisac je u petak navečer operiran nakon čega je bio stavljen na respirator.

Književnici i političari diljem svijeta osudili su napad. U subotu im se pridružio i američki predsjednik Joe Biden, pohvalivši Rushdiejevo zalaganje za "univerzalne ideale". Istovremeno, iranski mediji likuju nad sudbinom slavnoga pisca, a jedan od naslova u novinama je: "Sotona na putu prema paklu". Neki idu i tako daleko da kažu kako je napad možda tempiran baš sada kako bi se minirao nuklearni sporazum s Iranom o kojem se već neko vrijeme pregovara u Beču, a sada je prijelomni trenutak za njegovo prihvaćanje.

Policija još nije utvrdila motive za napad na Rushdieja, ali je NBC objavio da je preliminarnim policijskim pregledom Matarovih profila na društvenim mrežama ustanovljeno da je bio sklon šijitskom ekstremizmu i iranskoj Revolucionarnoj gardi.

Matar je rođen u Kaliforniji, ali se nedavno preselio u New Jersey. Uhićen je na mjestu napada, a očevici su kazali da pritom nije ništa govorio. Njegovo iduće saslušanje na sudu bit će u petak.

Britanski pisac Salman Rushdie u subotu je i dalje u bolnici u teškom stanju, dan nakon što je više puta uboden nožem na književnom okupljanju u državi New York, dok se njegov napadač na sudu izjasnio da se ne osjeća krivim. Ipak, njegov agent Andrew Wylie priopćio je da su ga skinuli s respiratora te da ponovno može pričati.

Po okružnom tužitelju Jasonu Schmidtu, Rushdie je uboden triput u vrat i četiri puta u trbuh. Probodeno mu je i oko.

Pisac je u petak navečer operiran nakon čega je bio stavljen na respirator.

Književnici i političari diljem svijeta osudili su napad. U subotu im se pridružio i američki predsjednik Joe Biden, pohvalivši Rushdiejevo zalaganje za "univerzalne ideale". Istovremeno, iranski mediji likuju nad sudbinom slavnoga pisca, a jedan od naslova u novinama je: "Sotona na putu prema paklu". Neki idu i tako daleko da kažu kako je napad možda tempiran baš sada kako bi se minirao nuklearni sporazum s Iranom o kojem se već neko vrijeme pregovara u Beču, a sada je prijelomni trenutak za njegovo prihvaćanje.

Policija još nije utvrdila motive za napad na Rushdieja, ali je NBC objavio da je preliminarnim policijskim pregledom Matarovih profila na društvenim mrežama ustanovljeno da je bio sklon šijitskom ekstremizmu i iranskoj Revolucionarnoj gardi.

Matar je rođen u Kaliforniji, ali se nedavno preselio u New Jersey. Uhićen je na mjestu napada, a očevici su kazali da pritom nije ništa govorio. Njegovo iduće saslušanje na sudu bit će u petak.

Britanski pisac Salman Rushdie u subotu je i dalje u bolnici u teškom stanju, dan nakon što je više puta uboden nožem na književnom okupljanju u državi New York, dok se njegov napadač na sudu izjasnio da se ne osjeća krivim. Ipak, njegov agent Andrew Wylie priopćio je da su ga skinuli s respiratora te da ponovno može pričati.

Optuženi napadač, 24-godišnji Hadi Matar iz Fairviewa u New Jerseyju, na sudu se u subotu izjasnio da se ne osjeća krivim, objavio je njegov odvjetnik po službenoj dužnosti Nathaniel Barone. Hadar je optužen za pokušaj ubojstva i nanošenje teških tjelesnih ozljeda.

Rushdie (75), kojem je glava ucijenjena otkako je 1989. objavio "Sotonske stihove" spremao se održati predavanje u Chautauqui, na zapadu države New York, kad je na njega nožem nas...
