Krajem veljače, kad su Sjedinjene Američke Države još vjerovale kako su po pitanju koronavirusa virgo intacta, građanin Chicaga, tek s blagom grloboljom, otišao je na sprovod obiteljskim prijateljima. Tri dana kasnije bio je i na proslavi rođendana s vlastitom obitelji i rođacima.
Potpuno nesvjestan da je prijenosnik virusa koji je uzročnik bolesti Covid-19, ovaj muškarac pokrenuo je štafetu kojom je dosad zaraženo barem 15 osoba, od kojih su tri već umrle, objavio je na temelju rekonstrukcije američki Centar za kontrolu i sprječavanje bolesti (CDC), a prenijela francuska agencija AFP.
U američkoj saveznoj državi Illinois, u kojoj je Chicago najveći grad, tek su 21. ožujka uvedene mjere ograničavanja kretanja, kao i u mnogim drugim dijelovima SAD-a. Školski primjer zaraznosti jednog jedinog muškarca iz Chicaga epidemiolozima služi kao model za isticanje važnosti preporuka o socijalnom distanciranju i važećim zabranama kretanja.
Na početku smrtonosnog lanca svi su bili naizgled zdravi. A sve je krenulo kad je primarni kliconoša večer prije odlaska na sprovod bio na večeri s dvoje ljudi, te su jeli iz zajedničkih porcija naručenih u fast-food restoranu "za van".
U toku te večere, koja je trajala oko tri sata, i sprovoda koji je trajao oko dva sata, primarni je kliconoša, po vlastitom priznanju, izražavajući saučešće zagrlio barem četiri osobe, među kojima su bili i ljudi s kojima je dan ranije bio na večeri.
U sljedećih dva do šest dana troje od spomenutih četvero razvilo je simptome Covida-19, među kojima i jedna osoba koja je hospitalizirana i mjesec dana kasnije umrla. Druge dvije osobe uspjele su se oporaviti.
Hospitaliziranog je, prije nego što je preminuo, na odjelu intenzivnog liječenja posjetio član njegove obitelji, koji je na sprovodu bio i u kontaktu s primarnim kliconošom. Kod tog se posjetitelja kasnije razvio kašalj i temperatura, ali se oporavio.
No, tri dana nakon sprovoda primarni je kliconoša otišao na obiteljski rođendan na kojemu je bilo devet članova njegove obitelji i tamo se sa svima intenzivno družio, grlio i kucao čašama barem tri sata. Kod čak sedam ljudi koji su bili na rođendanskoj zabavi u roku od tri do sedam dana razvili su se simptomi Covida-19. Dvoje od njih završilo je u bolnici i uslijed daljnjeg razvoja bolesti umrlo.
Dvije osobe koje su se brinule za jednog od dvoje umrlih također su razvile simptome Covida-19: jedan je bio član obitelji, a drugi profesionalni njegovatelj.
Jedan od članova obitelji primarnog kliconoše zarazio je u međuvremenu još jednog rođaka koji nije bio na rođendanskoj proslavi. Troje sudionika na rođendanskom okupljanju otišli su šest dana nakon pojave simptoma u mjesnu crkvu, gdje su vjerojatno zarazili jednog zdravstvenog radnika koji je tada također bio na misi.
Sva ova obiteljska okupljanja (rođendanske proslave, sprovodi, crkvene mise) dogodila su se prije američkog uvođenja mjera socijalnog distanciranja i to je uvelike olakšalo prijenos virusa SARS-CoV-2 u širu zajednicu. Zaraženi su imali širok dobni raspon – od pet do 86 godina.
Čikaški primjer zorno svjedoči o epidemiološki najopasnijim situacijama u svakom društvu: sprovodima, rođendanskim i drugim obiteljskim feštama, te grupiranjima poput crkvenih misa, na kojima još tvrdoglavo inzistira dobar broj hrvatskih svećenika.
Zaraznost SARS-CoV-2 se u praksi ispostavlja znatno većom i od medicinskih očekivanja, a pretpostavlja se i kako se od 25 do 50 posto zaraženih inficira od asimptomatskih prijenosnika. Zbog svega su savjeti Centra za kontrolu i sprječavanje bolesti Amerikancima odnedavno dopunjeni preporukom da svi pokriju lice maskom ako izlaze iz domova.

Krajem veljače, kad su Sjedinjene Američke Države još vjerovale kako su po pitanju koronavirusa virgo intacta, građanin Chicaga, tek s blagom grloboljom, otišao je na sprovod obiteljskim prijateljima. Tri dana kasnije bio je i na proslavi rođendana s vlastitom obitelji i rođacima.
Potpuno nesvjestan da je prijenosnik virusa koji je uzročnik bolesti Covid-19, ovaj muškarac pokrenuo je štafetu kojom je dosad zaraženo barem 15 osoba, od kojih su tri već umrle, objavio je na temelju rekonstrukcije američki Centar za kontrolu i sprječavanje bolesti (CDC), a prenijela francuska agencija AFP.
U američkoj saveznoj državi Illinois, u kojoj je Chicago najveći grad, tek su 21. ožujka uvedene mjere ograničavanja kretanja, kao i u mnogim drugim dijelovima SAD-a. Školski primjer zaraznosti jednog jedinog muškarca iz Chicaga epidemiolozima služi kao model za isticanje važnosti preporuka o socijalnom distanciranju i važećim zabranama kretanja.
Na početku smrtonosnog lanca svi su bili naizgled zdravi. A sve je krenulo kad je primarni kliconoša večer prije odlaska na sprovod bio na večeri s dvoje ljudi, te su jeli iz zajedničkih porcija naručenih u fast-food restoranu "za van".
U toku te večere, koja je trajala oko tri sata, i sprovoda koji je trajao oko dva sata, primarni je kliconoša, po vlastitom priznanju, izražavajući saučešće zagrlio barem četiri osobe, među kojima su bili i ljudi s kojima je dan ranije bio na večeri.
U sljedećih dva do šest dana troje od spomenutih četvero razvilo je simptome Covida-19, među kojima i jedna osoba koja je hospitalizirana i mjesec dana kasnije umrla. Druge dvije osobe uspjele su se oporaviti.
Hospitaliziranog je, prije nego što je preminuo, na odjelu intenzivnog liječenja posjetio član njegove obitelji, koji je na sprovodu bio i u kontaktu s primarnim kliconošom. Kod tog se posjetitelja kasnije razvio kašalj i temperatura, ali se oporavio.
No, tri dana nakon sprovoda primarni je kliconoša otišao na obiteljski rođendan na kojemu je bilo devet članova njegove obitelji i tamo se sa svima intenzivno družio, grlio i kucao čašama barem tri sata. Kod čak sedam ljudi koji su bili na rođendanskoj zabavi u roku od tri do sedam dana razvili su se simptomi Covida-19. Dvoje od njih završilo je u bolnici i uslijed daljnjeg razvoja bolesti umrlo.
Dvije osobe koje su se brinule za jednog od dvoje umrlih također su razvile simptome Covida-19: jedan je bio član obitelji, a drugi profesionalni njegovatelj.
Jedan od članova obitelji primarnog kliconoše zarazio je u međuvremenu još jednog rođaka koji nije bio na rođendanskoj proslavi. Troje sudionika na rođendanskom okupljanju otišli su šest dana nakon pojave simptoma u mjesnu crkvu, gdje su vjerojatno zarazili jednog zdravstvenog radnika koji je tada također bio na misi.
Sva ova obiteljska okupljanja (rođendanske proslave, sprovodi, crkvene mise) dogodila su se prije američkog uvođenja mjera socijalnog distanciranja i to je uvelike olakšalo prijenos virusa SARS-CoV-2 u širu zajednicu. Zaraženi su imali širok dobni raspon – od pet do 86 godina.
Čikaški primjer zorno svjedoči o epidemiološki najopasnijim situacijama u svakom društvu: sprovodima, rođendanskim i drugim obiteljskim feštama, te grupiranjima poput crkvenih misa, na kojima još tvrdoglavo inzistira dobar broj hrvatskih svećenika.
