Svojevrsna inflacija “alarmantnih vijesti” vezanih uz klimatske promjene i rast globalnih temperatura učinila je da se ljudi manje obaziru na upozorenja znanstvenika, no svi znanstveni podaci te desetljećima uočavani trendovi vezani uz zagrijavanje atmosfere pod utjecajem čovjekova djelovanja pokazuju da svako od upozorenja itekako zaslužuje da ga se nazove alarmantnim.

Najnovije upravo alarmantno izvješće donosi Svjetska meteorološka organizacija (WMO) u svojem Globalnom godišnjem do desetogodišnjem klimatskom ažuriranju, u kojemu se upozorava da će jedna od sljedećih pet godina “gotovo sigurno”, odnosno s 98 posto šanse, biti najtoplija dosad zabilježena; također, postoji šansa (od 66 posto) da će jedna od idućih pet godina prijeći ključni prag globalnog zatopljenja od 1,5 °C. Vrlo je zabrinjavajuća procjena o 32 posto šanse da će prosječna temperatura u sljedećih pet godina premašiti prag od 1,5 °C. Šansa da privremeno prijeđe 1,5 °C stalno raste od 2015., kad je bila blizu nule, dok je za godine između 2017. i 2021. iznosila 10 posto šanse.

Godina rekordno visoke globalne temperature bila je 2016., najtoplija u 137 godina vođenja evidencije o globalnim temperaturama. Prema podacima NOAA-e (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), globalna prosječna temperatura za 2016. bila je 0,94 °C iznad prosjeka 20. stoljeća, dok je prema NASA-inim podacima ta godina bila 0,99 °C iznad prosjeka razdoblja od 1951. do 1980. godine. Za temperaturni rekord te godine “zaslužan” je bio El Niño, prirodna meteorološka pojava koja se javlja u nepravilnim vremenskim razmacima kao anomalija u temperaturi oceanske vode – koja postaje toplija – i strujanjima vjetrova na Pacifiku zapadno od obala Čilea i Perua, no pokazalo se da El Niño ima dalekosežan globalni utjecaj na vremenske prilike ne samo na Tihom oceanu, nego i u drugim dijelovima svijeta. Već tjednima sa svih strana stižu upozorenja kako se El Niño vraća, kako se već počinje stvarati na Pacifiku te kako bi njegov utjecaj u idućim mjesecima, sve do iduće godine, u kombinaciji s nesmanjenim emitiranjem stakleničkih plinova, mogao značiti probijanje svih dosadašnjih temperaturnih rekorda.

Znači li sve to da je Pariški sporazum već propao? I znači i ne znači. Taj sporazum potpisale su gotovo sve zemlje svijeta, udružujući se u namjeri da dugoročno globalno zagrijavanje – do kraja stoljeća – ograničimo na 2 °C, a po mogućnosti ispod 1,5 °C porasta u odnosu na predindustrijske razine, odnosno na razinu koja neće rezultirati prevelikim klimatskim poremećajima, uključujući i gubitak ekosustava. No jedna ili dvije godine koje prijeđu razinu od 1,5 °C ne predstavljaju neuspjeh, navedeno je. S druge strane, međutim, svijet je sve bliže toj razini globalnog zatopljenja zbog kontinuirano visokih emisija stakleničkih plinova. Prognoza vjerojatne godine koja prelazi tu razinu trebala bi poslužiti kao najozbiljnije upozorenje.

Svojevrsna inflacija “alarmantnih vijesti” vezanih uz klimatske promjene i rast globalnih temperatura učinila je da se ljudi manje obaziru na upozorenja znanstvenika, no svi znanstveni podaci te desetljećima uočavani trendovi vezani uz zagrijavanje atmosfere pod utjecajem čovjekova djelovanja pokazuju da svako od upozorenja itekako zaslužuje da ga se nazove alarmantnim.

Najnovije upravo alarmantno izvješće donosi Svjetska meteorološka organizacija (WMO) u svojem Globalnom godišnjem do desetogodišnjem klimatskom ažuriranju, u kojemu se upozorava da će jedna od sljedećih pet godina “gotovo sigurno”, odnosno s 98 posto šanse, biti najtoplija dosad zabilježena; također, postoji šansa (od 66 posto) da će jedna od idućih pet godina prijeći ključni prag globalnog zatopljenja od 1,5 °C. Vrlo je zabrinjavajuća procjena o 32 posto šanse da će prosječna temperatura u sljedećih pet godina premašiti prag od 1,5 °C. Šansa da privremeno prijeđe 1,5 °C stalno raste od 2015., kad je bila blizu nule, dok je za godine između 2017. i 2021. iznosila 10 posto šanse.

Godina rekordno visoke globalne temperature bila je 2016., najtoplija u 137 godina vođenja evidencije o globalnim temperaturama. Prema podacima NOAA-e (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), globalna prosječna temperatura za 2016. bila je 0,94 °C iznad prosjeka 20. stoljeća, dok je prema NASA-inim podacima ta godina bila 0,99 °C iznad prosjeka razdoblja od 1951. do 1980. godine. Za temperaturni rekord te godine “zaslužan” je bio El Niño, prirodna meteorološka pojava koja se javlja u nepravilnim vremenskim razmacima kao anomalija u temperaturi oceanske vode – koja postaje toplija – i strujanjima vjetrova na Pacifiku zapadno od obala Čilea i Perua, no pokazalo se da El Niño ima dalekosežan globalni utjecaj na vremenske prilike ne samo na Tihom oceanu, nego i u drugim dijelovima svijeta. Već tjednima sa svih strana stižu upozorenja kako se El Niño vraća, kako se već počinje stvarati na Pacifiku te kako bi njegov utjecaj u idućim mjesecima, sve do iduće godine, u kombinaciji s nesmanjenim emitiranjem stakleničkih plinova, mogao značiti probijanje svih dosadašnjih temperaturnih rekorda.

Znači li sve to da je Pariški sporazum već propao? I znači i ne znači. Taj sporazum potpisale su gotovo sve zemlje svijeta, udružujući se u namjeri da dugoročno globalno zagrijavanje – do kraja stoljeća – ograničimo na 2 °C, a po mogućnosti ispod 1,5 °C porasta u odnosu na predindustrijske razine, odnosno na razinu koja neće rezultirati prevelikim klimatskim poremećajima, uključujući i gubitak ekosustava. No jedna ili dvije godine koje prijeđu razinu od 1,5 °C ne predstavljaju neuspjeh, navedeno je. S druge strane, međutim, svijet je sve bliže toj razini globalnog zatopljenja zbog kontinuirano visokih emisija stakleničkih plinova. Prognoza vjerojatne godine koja prelazi tu razinu trebala bi poslužiti kao najozbiljnije upozorenje.

Svojevrsna inflacija “alarmantnih vijesti” vezanih uz klimatske promjene i rast globalnih temperatura učinila je da se ljudi manje obaziru na upozorenja znanstvenika, no svi znanstveni podaci te desetljećima uočavani trendovi vezani uz zagrijavanje atmosfere pod utjecajem čovjekova djelovanja pokazuju da svako od upozorenja itekako zaslužuje da ga se nazove alarmantnim.
