Izvana izgleda kao hotel. Ima 26 katova. Sve je klimatizirano. No to nije hotel. Nije ni poslovna zgrada. Ni stambena. To je jedan veliki svinjac. Odnosno najveća farma svinja na svijetu. Luksuzni svinjac niknuo je u kineskom gradu Ezhou, a sagradila ga je tvrtka za inovacije u poljoprivredi Hubei Zhongxinkaiwei Modern Farming. Projekt stoji 550 milijuna eura, a pokrenut je kako bi Kina zadovoljila rastuću potražnju za svinjskim mesom na područjima gdje nema dovoljno zemljišta za uzgoj.

Ovakvih nebodera za uzgoj svinja u Kini je sve više.

Dopisnica njemačkog javnog servisa ARD Tamara Antony dugo je čekala dok je dobila dopuštenje da posjeti ovu višekatnu farmu. Na samom ulazu ona i snimateljska ekipa morali su proći rigoroznu zdravstvenu kontrolu. Čak sedam punktova dezinfekcije, tri puta su se tuširali, a morali su čak i u saunu. Nakon toga su im otvorena vrata najveće farme za svinje na svijetu.

Svinje su smještene u boksovima, a jedan je zaposlenik televizijskoj ekipi otkrio da je životinjama dozvoljeno da se slobodno kreću sat vremena otprilike svaka četiri mjeseca. Pri tom je vjerojatno mislio na kretanje do obora za prasenje krmača.

Ni zaposlenici nemaju puno više slobode od svinja koje uzgajaju. I također žive u određenoj karanteni. Spavaju u modernom kompleksu sagrađenom uz ovaj za svinje, a zgradu ne napuštaju po dva mjeseca. Jedna je zaposlenica izjavila da svoju kćer, koja odrasta s bakom i djedom, nije vidjela punih šest mjeseci. Praktički imaju isto što i životinje: hranu, smještaj i ograničen prostor, samo što na kraju njima, za razliku od svinja – ostaje glava na ramenu.

Otpad od svinja obrađuje se i koristiti za proizvodnju bioplina, koji se može koristiti za proizvodnju električne energije i grijanje vode unutar farme. Računala kontroliraju temperaturu i ventilaciju, a životinje se hrane na više od 30.000 automatskih mjesta za hranjenje pritiskom na gumb u središnjoj kontrolnoj sobi. Sa svojih 26 katova to je daleko najveća farma svinja na svijetu s jednom zgradom i kapacitetom za klanje 1,2 milijuna svinja godišnje.

Kinezi konzumiraju gotovo polovicu svjetske svinjetine, a nakon što je između 2018. i 2020. godine mnogo životinja usmrćeno zbog svinjske gripe, Peking je odobrio korištenje višekatnih objekata za uzgoj svinja. Od tada broj farmi svinja u neboderima raste 30 posto godišnje. Višekatne farme dodatno su postale popularne nakon 2021., kada su poljoprivredni dužnosnici u Pekingu podijelili Kinu na pet regija i propisali da nijedna svinja ne smije prelaziti iz regije u regiju. Bila je to preventivna mjera protiv svinjske gripe.

Visoki neboderi za uzgoj svinja skuplji su za izgradnju od konvencionalnih farmi. Vlasti smatraju da bi to moglo biti dobro rješenje na onim područjima gdje je malo zemljišta, a cijene svinjskog mesa visoke, kao što su planinska područja ili razvijenije pokrajine. Direktor za odnose s javnošću poljoprivrednog konglomerata New Hope Group, Zhen Chengzhi, izjavio je za kineski list Southern Weekly da su cijene zemljišta bile glavni razlog što se odlučilo graditi višekatnice za svinje. U višekatnim farmama može se proizvesti onoliko svinja koliko i na petini zemlje tradicionalne farme, objasnio je. Južna pokrajina Guangdong, koja povijesno ovisi o proizvodnji svinjskog mesa, izgradila je više od 200 višekatnih farmi svinja.

Kinezi tvrde kako su u usporedbi s tradicionalnim metodama uzgoja, visoke farme svinja inteligentnije, s visokom razinom automatizacije i biološke sigurnosti. No, stručnjaci smatraju da se tu, unatoč svim mjerama opreza, lako može proširiti zaraza.

Dirk Pfeiffer, profesor na One Health sveučilištu u Hong Kongu upozorava "da što je veća gustoća životinja, to je veći rizik od širenja i umnožavanja zaraznih patogena, kao i potencijal za mutacije".

"Vjerojatno još važnije pitanje bit će je li ova vrsta proizvodnje u skladu s potrebom da se krene prema smanjenoj potrošnji mesa, s obzirom na očito nezaustavljivu prijetnju razornih klimatskih promjena", ocijenio je. 

"Ako bolest uđe unutra, može izbiti među životinjama poput požara", rekao je Matthew Hayek, asistent profesora studija okoliša na Sveučilištu New York za britanski Guardian.

"Čuo sam više izvještaja o ‘biološkoj sigurnosti‘, ‘učinkovitosti‘ i ‘održivosti‘. Čujemo istu priču za zatvorene objekte u SAD-u. Međutim, postoji vrlo malo dokaza da ti intenzivni objekti imaju bilo koju od tih koristi u stvarnosti", zaključio je.

Izvana izgleda kao hotel. Ima 26 katova. Sve je klimatizirano. No to nije hotel. Nije ni poslovna zgrada. Ni stambena. To je jedan veliki svinjac. Odnosno najveća farma svinja na svijetu. Luksuzni svinjac niknuo je u kineskom gradu Ezhou, a sagradila ga je tvrtka za inovacije u poljoprivredi Hubei Zhongxinkaiwei Modern Farming. Projekt stoji 550 milijuna eura, a pokrenut je kako bi Kina zadovoljila rastuću potražnju za svinjskim mesom na područjima gdje nema dovoljno zemljišta za uzgoj.

Ovakvih nebodera za uzgoj svinja u Kini je sve više.

Dopisnica njemačkog javnog servisa ARD Tamara Antony dugo je čekala dok je dobila dopuštenje da posjeti ovu višekatnu farmu. Na samom ulazu ona i snimateljska ekipa morali su proći rigoroznu zdravstvenu kontrolu. Čak sedam punktova dezinfekcije, tri puta su se tuširali, a morali su čak i u saunu. Nakon toga su im otvorena vrata najveće farme za svinje na svijetu.

Svinje su smještene u boksovima, a jedan je zaposlenik televizijskoj ekipi otkrio da je životinjama dozvoljeno da se slobodno kreću sat vremena otprilike svaka četiri mjeseca. Pri tom je vjerojatno mislio na kretanje do obora za prasenje krmača.

Ni zaposlenici nemaju puno više slobode od svinja koje uzgajaju. I također žive u određenoj karanteni. Spavaju u modernom kompleksu sagrađenom uz ovaj za svinje, a zgradu ne napuštaju po dva mjeseca. Jedna je zaposlenica izjavila da svoju kćer, koja odrasta s bakom i djedom, nije vidjela punih šest mjeseci. Praktički imaju isto što i životinje: hranu, smještaj i ograničen prostor, samo što na kraju njima, za razliku od svinja – ostaje glava na ramenu.

Otpad od svinja obrađuje se i koristiti za proizvodnju bioplina, koji se može koristiti za proizvodnju električne energije i grijanje vode unutar farme. Računala kontroliraju temperaturu i ventilaciju, a životinje se hrane na više od 30.000 automatskih mjesta za hranjenje pritiskom na gumb u središnjoj kontrolnoj sobi. Sa svojih 26 katova to je daleko najveća farma svinja na svijetu s jednom zgradom i kapacitetom za klanje 1,2 milijuna svinja godišnje.

Kinezi konzumiraju gotovo polovicu svjetske svinjetine, a nakon što je između 2018. i 2020. godine mnogo životinja usmrćeno zbog svinjske gripe, Peking je odobrio korištenje višekatnih objekata za uzgoj svinja. Od tada broj farmi svinja u neboderima raste 30 posto godišnje. Višekatne farme dodatno su postale popularne nakon 2021., kada su poljoprivredni dužnosnici u Pekingu podijelili Kinu na pet regija i propisali da nijedna svinja ne smije prelaziti iz regije u regiju. Bila je to preventivna mjera protiv svinjske gripe.

Visoki neboderi za uzgoj svinja skuplji su za izgradnju od konvencionalnih farmi. Vlasti smatraju da bi to moglo biti dobro rješenje na onim područjima gdje je malo zemljišta, a cijene svinjskog mesa visoke, kao što su planinska područja ili razvijenije pokrajine. Direktor za odnose s javnošću poljoprivrednog konglomerata New Hope Group, Zhen Chengzhi, izjavio je za kineski list Southern Weekly da su cijene zemljišta bile glavni razlog što se odlučilo graditi višekatnice za svinje. U višekatnim farmama može se proizvesti onoliko svinja koliko i na petini zemlje tradicionalne farme, objasnio je. Južna pokrajina Guangdong, koja povijesno ovisi o proizvodnji svinjskog mesa, izgradila je više od 200 višekatnih farmi svinja.

Kinezi tvrde kako su u usporedbi s tradicionalnim metodama uzgoja, visoke farme svinja inteligentnije, s visokom razinom automatizacije i biološke sigurnosti. No, stručnjaci smatraju da se tu, unatoč svim mjerama opreza, lako može proširiti zaraza.

Dirk Pfeiffer, profesor na One Health sveučilištu u Hong Kongu upozorava "da što je veća gustoća životinja, to je veći rizik od širenja i umnožavanja zaraznih patogena, kao i potencijal za mutacije".

"Vjerojatno još važnije pitanje bit će je li ova vrsta proizvodnje u skladu s potrebom da se krene prema smanjenoj potrošnji mesa, s obzirom na očito nezaustavljivu prijetnju razornih klimatskih promjena", ocijenio je. 

"Ako bolest uđe unutra, može izbiti među životinjama poput požara", rekao je Matthew Hayek, asistent profesora studija okoliša na Sveučilištu New York za britanski Guardian.

"Čuo sam više izvještaja o ‘biološkoj sigurnosti‘, ‘učinkovitosti‘ i ‘održivosti‘. Čujemo istu priču za zatvorene objekte u SAD-u. Međutim, postoji vrlo malo dokaza da ti intenzivni objekti imaju bilo koju od tih koristi u stvarnosti", zaključio je.
