Farmaceutski gigant Merck razvio je tabletu koja bi ubrzo mogla sprječavati smrt i teže oblike koronavirusne bolesti, što bi čitav dosadašnji tijek epidemije moglo skrenuti u pravcu klasične gripe i napokon trajnije relaksirati čovječanstvo.

Molnupiravir, eksperimentalni oralni preparat, čeka na hitno odobrenje američke Agencije za hranu i lijekove (FDA) i prema najavama trebao bi dobiti certifikat najkasnije početkom iduće godine. Dosadašnji rezultati kliničkih testiranja pokazali su kako u ranoj fazi bolesti rizik od hospitalizacije ili smrti pacijenata sklonih težoj zarazi smanjuje za više od pola, a pomaže i kod cijepljenih i kod necijepljenih.

Lijek bi mogao biti široko dostupan jer je namijenjen kućnoj primjeni, čime će se dodatno rasteretiti javnozdravstveni sustavi. Liječenje uključuje četiri kapsule od 200 miligrama, dva puta na dan, pet dana za redom. Najbolje rezultate daje ako tretman otpočne u prvih pet dana infekcije: Molnupiravir zapravo sprečava daljnju replikaciju koronavirusa u organizmu.

Njegov inicijalni razvoj pokrenuli su znanstvenici sa inovativnog Sveučilišta Emory u Georgiji, koje je poznato po novim terapijama i gdje je već ranije razvijen i jedan lijek protiv HIV-a. Farmaceutski stručnjaci upozoravaju kako Molnupiravir ne treba smatrati konačnim rješenjem pandemije jer to i dalje ostaje samo cjepivo, ali je posrijedi svakako moćno oružje koje u dosadašnjoj borbi protiv bolesti svijet nije imao na raspolaganju.

Za razliku od pojedinih proizvođača cjepiva, tvrtka Merck će navodno dopustiti generičkim proizvođačima u Indiji i siromašnim zemljama Afrike da prodaju ove tablete po znatno sniženim cijenama. Je li to samo prigodni marketing ili pokušaj pravdanja navodno vrtoglave cijene Molnupiravira na većini preostalih tržišta, ostaje da se vidi. Merck je, naime, već potpisao ugovor s američkom vladom za čak 1,7 milijuna kutija Molnupiravira po cijeni od 700 dolara za kutiju lijeka.

Usprkos takvoj cijeni, Srbija je već naručila 50 tisuća kutija koje bi trebala dobiti u siječnju. Hrvatska se, sudeći po izjavama članova Nacionalnog stožera, još uvijek nećka oko nabavke novog preparata: Krunoslav Capak je cijenu od 700 dolara za kutiju nazvao 'prilično zastrašujućom'.

Merck je možda uspio prvi složiti lijek protiv covida, ali svakako nije jedini jer i brojne druge farmaceutske tvrtke, uključujući Pfizer i još neke proizvođače cjepiva, također razvijaju svoje tablete. Farmaceutska industrija okrenula se pilulama jer je svjesna da se cijepljenje posvuda rapidno usporilo, a mnoge opasnosti od zaraze i dalje ostaju na snazi. Necijepljeni u svim dijelovima svijeta čine većinu i umrlih i hospitaliziranih.

Razvoj novih lijekova za liječenje ove bolesti bio je, međutim, skup i dugotrajan, zbog čega su istraživači dugo priželjkivali pronaći već gotove terapije koje su se već dokazale protiv drugih bolesti. Neki preparati su se pokazali prilično učinkovitima, poput kortikosteroida deksametazona, a i antidepresiv fluksamin mnogi su znanstvenici svojedobno sugerirali kao dopunsku terapiju protiv korone.

Novi lijekovi poput molnupiravira zahtijevaju više kliničkih ispitivanja i pregleda, ali nude i mogućnost snažnijeg i preciznijeg pristupa. Molnupiravir zapravo zavarava virus covida i proizvodi u njemu genetske mutacije koje ga koče u daljnjem razmnožavanju u čovjekovom tijelu. Lijek dosad nije zabilježio gotovo nikakvu nuspojavu, a istodobno pokazuje zavidan potencijal u spašavanju ljudskih života.

Farmaceutski gigant Merck razvio je tabletu koja bi ubrzo mogla sprječavati smrt i teže oblike koronavirusne bolesti, što bi čitav dosadašnji tijek epidemije moglo skrenuti u pravcu klasične gripe i napokon trajnije relaksirati čovječanstvo.

Dosadašnji rezultati kliničkih testiranja pokazali su kako u ranoj fazi bolesti rizik od hospitalizacije ili smrti pacijenata sklonih težoj zarazi smanjuje za više od pola, a pomaže i kod cijepljenih i kod necijepljenih.

Lijek bi mogao biti široko dostupan jer je namijenjen kućnoj primjeni, čime će se dodatno rasteretiti javnozdravstveni sustavi. Liječenje uključuje četiri kapsule od 200 miligrama, dva puta na dan, pet dana za redom. Najbolje rezultate daje ako tretman otpočne u prvih pet dana infekcije: Molnupiravir zapravo sprečava daljnju replikaciju koronavirusa u organizmu.

Njegov inicijalni razvoj pokrenuli su znanstvenici sa inovativnog Sveučilišta Emory u Georgiji, koje je poznato po novim terapijama i gdje je već ranije razvijen i jedan lijek protiv HIV-a. Farmaceutski stručnjaci upozoravaju kako Molnupiravir ne treba smatrati konačnim rješenjem pandemije jer to i dalje ostaje samo cjepivo, ali je posrijedi svakako moćno oružje koje u dosadašnjoj borbi protiv bolesti svijet nije imao na raspolaganju.

Za razliku od pojedinih proizvođača cjepiva, tvrtka Merck će navodno dopustiti generičkim proizvođačima u Indiji i siromašnim zemljama Afrike da prodaju ove tablete po znatno sniženim cijenama. Je li to samo prigodni marketing ili pokušaj pravdanja navodno vrtoglave cijene Molnupiravira na većini preostalih tržišta, ostaje da se vidi. Merck je, naime, već potpisao ugovor s američkom vladom za čak 1,7 milijuna kutija Molnupiravira po cijeni od 700 dolara za kutiju lijeka.

Usprkos takvoj cijeni, Srbija je već naručila 50 tisuća kutija koje bi trebala dobiti u siječnju. Hrvatska se, sudeći po izjavama članova Nacionalnog stožera, još uvijek nećka oko nabavke novog preparata: Krunoslav Capak je cijenu od 700 dolara za kutiju nazvao 'prilično zastrašujućom'.

Merck je možda uspio prvi složiti lijek protiv covida, ali svakako nije jedini jer i brojne druge farmaceutske tvrtke, uključujući Pfizer i još neke proizvođače cjepiva, također razvijaju svoje tablete. Farmaceutska industrija okrenula se pilulama jer je svjesna da se cijepljenje posvuda rapidno usporilo, a mnoge opasnosti od zaraze i dalje ostaju na snazi. Necijepljeni u svim dijelovima svijeta čine većinu i umrlih i hospitaliziranih.

Razvoj novih lijekova za liječenje ove bolesti bio je, međutim, skup i dugotrajan, zbog čega su istraživači dugo priželjkivali pronaći već gotove terapije koje su se već dokazale protiv drugih bolesti. Neki preparati su se pokazali prilično učinkovitima, poput kortikosteroida deksametazona, a i antidepresiv fluksamin mnogi su znanstvenici svojedobno sugerirali kao dopunsku terapiju protiv korone.

Novi lijekovi poput molnupiravira zahtijevaju više kliničkih ispitivanja i pregleda, ali nude i mogućnost snažnijeg i preciznijeg pristupa. Molnupiravir zapravo zavarava virus covida i proizvodi u njemu genetske mutacije koje ga koče u daljnjem razmnožavanju u čovjekovom tijelu. Lijek dosad nije zabilježio gotovo nikakvu nuspojavu, a istodobno pokazuje zavidan potencijal u spašavanju ljudskih života.

Farmaceutski gigant Merck razvio je tabletu koja bi ubrzo mogla sprječavati smrt i teže oblike koronavirusne bolesti, što bi čitav dosadašnji tijek epidemije moglo skrenuti u pravcu klasične gripe i napokon trajnije relaksirati čovječanstvo.

Molnupiravir, eksperimentalni oralni preparat, čeka na hitno odobrenje američke Agencije za hranu i lijekove (FDA) i prema najavama trebao bi dobiti certifikat najkasnije početkom iduće godine.
