Korak do režije dugometražnog filma napravio je i redatelj videospotova Declan Whitebloom. Od Whitebloomova filmskog prvijenca rasla su određena očekivanja prevrti li čovjek njegove spotove za izvođače kao što su Taylor Swift, Pixie Lott, One Direction i Rita Ora.

Nijedan nije kalibar spota za pjesmu "Thriller" (Michael Jackson), "November Rain" i "Estranged" (Guns N‘ Roses) ili "Sabotage" (Beastie Boys), ali Whitebloom je u kraćoj formi pokazao osjećaj za priču i ljepotu kadra, ako već ne golemu darovitost jednog Davida Finchera (Madonnin "Vogue", "Love Is Strong" Rolling Stonesa).

Nažalost, Whitebloom nije pokazao sličan osjećaj režirajući triler "Sijepi putnik" ("Stowaway") koji ne treba miješati s identično naslovljenim prošlogodišnjim Netflixovim SF-om s Annom Kendrick u glavnoj ulozi i prava je šteta da radni naslov "The Yacht" nije o(p)stao.

Dok za priču Whitebloom nije toliko kriv, jer dobio je u ruke propusni scenarij debitanta Iana Haydena, čudno je da mu film barem ne izgleda dobro. Fotografija je manje loša u odnosu na većinu direktno-na-video filmića, ali DTV izričaj se osjeća u svakom kadru zahvaljujući slabom osvjetljenju koje samo potvrđuje koliko nam fali jedan Tony Scott ("Top Gun", "Dani groma", "Tjelesna straža"), ali i lošim CGI efektima krvi i eksplozija.

Premisa je imala mrvu "high concept" potencijala kao nekakva kombinacija "Opasnog mora" Phillipa Noycea i Fincherove "Sobe panike", čak i "Brzine 2" Jana De Bonta. Bella Danton (Ruby Rose) zamalo se utopila kao dijete i otad se boji mora i mrzi ga, kao i brodove.

Godinama kasnije, Bella doznaje da je od otuđenog oca naslijedila luksuznu jahtu. "Ovaj brod nećeš mrziti", uvjerava je Ed Messner (Frank Grillo, uvijek rado viđena faca starog akcijskog kova; gledamo ga u kinima i u "Autocesti spasa"), poslovni partner njezina oca koji je s njim bio u vojsci. I doista, jahtu je teško ne voljeti, ima jacuzzi i svašta nešto.

Zaplet se inicira kad Bella jedne večeri na jahtu dovede Michaela (Patrick Schwarzenegger, sin legendarnog Arnieja), dečka kojeg je upoznala u baru, a nedugo poslije toga negativci otmu brod kako bi se dokopali 80 milijuna dolara iz sefa. Blesavost scenarija tu je očita: zašto su negativci morali otploviti s jahtom kad su se mogli pozabaviti provaljivanjem u sef i dok je privezana u marini.

Klišeji su na broju, počevši od crknute baterije za mobitel i lošeg signala za poziv u pomoć. Međutim, neke stvari razbijaju očekivanja: Michael će odmah skočiti s broda da pozove pomoć dok nije isplovio iz luke, ali i popiti metak, iako je gledatelj mogao pomisliti kako nema šanse da se to dogodi nekome tko nosi prezime Schwarzenegger i vjeruje da će se nekako ipak "vratiti".

Film pripada Belli koja pokušava "umirati ženski" i igrati igru mačke i miša na manjem brodskom prijevoznom sredstvu gdje se začudo nije snimio nijedan "Die Hard" klon, za razliku od aviona ("Putnik 57", "Air Force One"), busa ("Brzina") i vlaka ("Pod opsadom 2"). Očekivati od Rose da postane Bruce Willis je ravno nuli nakon njezine uloge u "Najdužoj noći".

No, problem je što, neovisno o Bellinu osnaženju i prevladavanju straha, ona ne postaje ni Nicole Kidman iz "Dead Calm", snažan ženski lik i heroina za koju se navija, niti se Whitebloomov film uspijeva usidriti blizu Noyceova klasika. Noyce je snimao svoj triler na pučini, a ovdje ni u jednom trenutku ne izgleda da se jahta otisnula barem stotinu metara od obale. Hvali kraj, drž se "Opasnog mora".

Plusić u filmu zaslužuje glazba u stilu osamdestih koja na trenutke podsjeća na "Stranger Things", ali uspije pogoditi svoju notu.

Korak do režije dugometražnog filma napravio je i redatelj videospotova Declan Whitebloom. Od Whitebloomova filmskog prvijenca rasla su određena očekivanja prevrti li čovjek njegove spotove za izvođače kao što su Taylor Swift, Pixie Lott, One Direction i Rita Ora.

Nijedan nije kalibar spota za pjesmu "Thriller" (Michael Jackson), "November Rain" i "Estranged" (Guns N‘ Roses) ili "Sabotage" (Beastie Boys), ali Whitebloom je u kraćoj formi pokazao osjećaj za priču i ljepotu kadra, ako već ne golemu darovitost jednog Davida Finchera (Madonnin "Vogue", "Love Is Strong" Rolling Stonesa).

Nažalost, Whitebloom nije pokazao sličan osjećaj režirajući triler "Sijepi putnik" ("Stowaway") koji ne treba miješati s identično naslovljenim prošlogodišnjim Netflixovim SF-om s Annom Kendrick u glavnoj ulozi i prava je šteta da radni naslov "The Yacht" nije o(p)stao.

Dok za priču Whitebloom nije toliko kriv, jer dobio je u ruke propusni scenarij debitanta Iana Haydena, čudno je da mu film barem ne izgleda dobro. Fotografija je manje loša u odnosu na većinu direktno-na-video filmića, ali DTV izričaj se osjeća u svakom kadru zahvaljujući slabom osvjetljenju koje samo potvrđuje koliko nam fali jedan Tony Scott ("Top Gun", "Dani groma", "Tjelesna straža"), ali i lošim CGI efektima krvi i eksplozija.

Premisa je imala mrvu "high concept" potencijala kao nekakva kombinacija "Opasnog mora" Phillipa Noycea i Fincherove "Sobe panike", čak i "Brzine 2" Jana De Bonta. Bella Danton (Ruby Rose) zamalo se utopila kao dijete i otad se boji mora i mrzi ga, kao i brodove.

Godinama kasnije, Bella doznaje da je od otuđenog oca naslijedila luksuznu jahtu. "Ovaj brod nećeš mrziti", uvjerava je Ed Messner (Frank Grillo, uvijek rado viđena faca starog akcijskog kova; gledamo ga u kinima i u "Autocesti spasa"), poslovni partner njezina oca koji je s njim bio u vojsci. I doista, jahtu je teško ne voljeti, ima jacuzzi i svašta nešto.

Zaplet se inicira kad Bella jedne večeri na jahtu dovede Michaela (Patrick Schwarzenegger, sin legendarnog Arnieja), dečka kojeg je upoznala u baru, a nedugo poslije toga negativci otmu brod kako bi se dokopali 80 milijuna dolara iz sefa. Blesavost scenarija tu je očita: zašto su negativci morali otploviti s jahtom kad su se mogli pozabaviti provaljivanjem u sef i dok je privezana u marini.

Klišeji su na broju, počevši od crknute baterije za mobitel i lošeg signala za poziv u pomoć. Međutim, neke stvari razbijaju očekivanja: Michael će odmah skočiti s broda da pozove pomoć dok nije isplovio iz luke, ali i popiti metak, iako je gledatelj mogao pomisliti kako nema šanse da se to dogodi nekome tko nosi prezime Schwarzenegger i vjeruje da će se nekako ipak "vratiti".

Film pripada Belli koja pokušava "umirati ženski" i igrati igru mačke i miša na manjem brodskom prijevoznom sredstvu gdje se začudo nije snimio nijedan "Die Hard" klon, za razliku od aviona ("Putnik 57", "Air Force One"), busa ("Brzina") i vlaka ("Pod opsadom 2"). Očekivati od Rose da postane Bruce Willis je ravno nuli nakon njezine uloge u "Najdužoj noći".

No, problem je što, neovisno o Bellinu osnaženju i prevladavanju straha, ona ne postaje ni Nicole Kidman iz "Dead Calm", snažan ženski lik i heroina za koju se navija, niti se Whitebloomov film uspijeva usidriti blizu Noyceova klasika. Noyce je snimao svoj triler na pučini, a ovdje ni u jednom trenutku ne izgleda da se jahta otisnula barem stotinu metara od obale. Hvali kraj, drž se "Opasnog mora".

Glazba a la ‘Stranger Things‘

Plusić u filmu zaslužuje glazba u stilu osamdestih koja na trenutke podsjeća na "Stranger Things", ali uspije pogoditi svoju notu.
