Nakon 14 dana i 18 sati provedenih na moru Ivica Kostelić je u ponedjeljak ponovo stao na čvrsto tlo u francuskom Les Sablesu. Prva oceanska regata je iza njega, čak 2600 nautičkih milja odjedrenih “u komadu”, jer ove godine zbog mjera vezanih uz koronavirus nije bilo uobičajenog zaustavljanja na pola puta u Horti. Jedriličari su mogli tek mahnuti Azorima i nastaviti put u suprotnom smjeru...

Natjecatelj u Ivici nije presretan sa 17. mjestom u regati, nadao se višem plasmanu, ali svjestan je i realnosti, pišu Sportske novosti.

- Rezultatski sam htio biti više, ali realno nismo mogli biti bolje plasirani od 12. mjesta bez da je odustao netko od važnijih. Držali smo 15. mjesto do zadnjeg dana i to je bilo ok, ali smo nažalost izgubili tu poziciju u posljednjih šest sati jedrenja. I da, to je bilo frustrirajuće, nakon 14 dana zezne te tih samo šest sati. Ali ovo je jedrenje na visokoj razni i dečki stvarno jedre sjajno, nema tu “šalabajzera”.

Realnost se odnosi u velikoj mjeri na brodove...

- U Class40 se događa revolucija u konstrukciji brodova, novi scow brodovi su puno brži od ovih starijih na kakvom i ja jedrim i jednostavno s njima ne možeš biti konkurentan. A bit će ih sve više i sve će se teže dolaziti do visokog plasmana, zapravo, neće biti moguće. To je kao da jedan skijaš nastupa na starim skijama, a drugi na carving - poslužio se usporedbom iz svog “starog” sporta.

Da bi se borio za vrh morao bi kupiti novi brod, a to u ovom trenutku nije nimalo realno.

- I za francuske prilike gdje je offshore jedrenje nacionalni sport to je ogromna investicija, a za nas su to basnoslovne svote. U ovom projektu koji sad imam to se sigurno neće dogoditi, ali možda neću ni biti dugo u ovoj klasi. Ima i drugih, manjih, a koje su jednako zanimljive. Ali ne znam točno kako će se sve razvijati u budućnosti, ovisi o mogućnosti dobivanja sponzora, ali i mojoj motivaciji jer danas sam u drukčijoj poziciji, imam obitelj i nije mi lako biti daleko od njih. Naše skijanje je bila obiteljska priča, ovo nije, ovdje sam sâm...

Ove godine ga čekaju još dvije regate, Rolex Fastnet Race već od 8. kolovoza, a nakon toga će napraviti malu pauzu do početka studenoga s kraćim treningom jer...

- I brod mora biti u formi, samo onaj koji se upotrebljava je spreman.

Les Sables - Horta je ove godine ispala teži zalogaj nego svih prethodnih jer nije bilo zaustavljanja na Azorima, a i vrijeme je bilo specifično.

- Nije bila tipična ljetna regata, baš suprotno od toga. Sedam dana do Azora smo imali jedrenje kontra vjetra, bilo je to baš fizičko iscrpljivanje, ja bih rekao moje najveće samokažnjavanje ove godine. Stajanje na Azorima bi savršeno došlo nakon tih sedam dana, ali ovo je ispalo stvarno jedinstveno iskustvo i nakon tih 14 dana si sasvim drugi mornar.

Bilo je i jako teških trenutaka, neki su brodovi odustali, neki su pretrpjeli veliku štetu, a Ivica i njegov co-skipper Hugo Feydit dobro su se izvukli.

- Naša šteta je za sada manja od 300 eura, neki su slomili spinakere, a to je 6-7.000 eura štete.

Iako uživa na moru, voli tu borbu s prirodnim silama, priznaje da su neka iskustva na oceanu zastrašujuća.

- Ponekad je stvarno strašno i zapravo uvijek moraš dosta procjenjivati s koliko rizika želiš ući u neke situacije, ako nemaš sreće...

U svom “brodskom dnevniku”, kako smo mi nazvali njegove zapise s regate Les Sables - Horta - Les Sables koje je objavljivao proteklih dana pisao je i o “paklenoj vožnji u srce kaosa”, a noć sve čini težim i strašnijim.

- Ne vidiš ništa, a brod roni ispod vode, nabija se na valove i kad ispliva dobije ogromnu brzinu i samo čekaš idući val u koji će zaroniti...

Nakon 14 dana i 18 sati provedenih na moru Ivica Kostelić je u ponedjeljak ponovo stao na čvrsto tlo u francuskom Les Sablesu. Prva oceanska regata je iza njega, čak 2600 nautičkih milja odjedrenih “u komadu”, jer ove godine zbog mjera vezanih uz koronavirus nije bilo uobičajenog zaustavljanja na pola puta u Horti. Jedriličari su mogli tek mahnuti Azorima i nastaviti put u suprotnom smjeru...

Natjecatelj u Ivici nije presretan sa 17. mjestom u regati, nadao se višem plasmanu, ali svjestan je i realnosti, pišu Sportske novosti.

- Rezultatski sam htio biti više, ali realno nismo mogli biti bolje plasirani od 12. mjesta bez da je odustao netko od važnijih. Držali smo 15. mjesto do zadnjeg dana i to je bilo ok, ali smo nažalost izgubili tu poziciju u posljednjih šest sati jedrenja. I da, to je bilo frustrirajuće, nakon 14 dana zezne te tih samo šest sati. Ali ovo je jedrenje na visokoj razni i dečki stvarno jedre sjajno, nema tu “šalabajzera”.

Realnost se odnosi u velikoj mjeri na brodove...

- U Class40 se događa revolucija u konstrukciji brodova, novi scow brodovi su puno brži od ovih starijih na kakvom i ja jedrim i jednostavno s njima ne možeš biti konkurentan. A bit će ih sve više i sve će se teže dolaziti do visokog plasmana, zapravo, neće biti moguće. To je kao da jedan skijaš nastupa na starim skijama, a drugi na carving - poslužio se usporedbom iz svog “starog” sporta.

Da bi se borio za vrh morao bi kupiti novi brod, a to u ovom trenutku nije nimalo realno.

- I za francuske prilike gdje je offshore jedrenje nacionalni sport to je ogromna investicija, a za nas su to basnoslovne svote. U ovom projektu koji sad imam to se sigurno neće dogoditi, ali možda neću ni biti dugo u ovoj klasi. Ima i drugih, manjih, a koje su jednako zanimljive. Ali ne znam točno kako će se sve razvijati u budućnosti, ovisi o mogućnosti dobivanja sponzora, ali i mojoj motivaciji jer danas sam u drukčijoj poziciji, imam obitelj i nije mi lako biti daleko od njih. Naše skijanje je bila obiteljska priča, ovo nije, ovdje sam sâm...

Ove godine ga čekaju još dvije regate, Rolex Fastnet Race već od 8. kolovoza, a nakon toga će napraviti malu pauzu do početka studenoga s kraćim treningom jer...

- I brod mora biti u formi, samo onaj koji se upotrebljava je spreman.

Les Sables - Horta je ove godine ispala teži zalogaj nego svih prethodnih jer nije bilo zaustavljanja na Azorima, a i vrijeme je bilo specifično.

- Nije bila tipična ljetna regata, baš suprotno od toga. Sedam dana do Azora smo imali jedrenje kontra vjetra, bilo je to baš fizičko iscrpljivanje, ja bih rekao moje najveće samokažnjavanje ove godine. Stajanje na Azorima bi savršeno došlo nakon tih sedam dana, ali ovo je ispalo stvarno jedinstveno iskustvo i nakon tih 14 dana si sasvim drugi mornar.

Bilo je i jako teških trenutaka, neki su brodovi odustali, neki su pretrpjeli veliku štetu, a Ivica i njegov co-skipper Hugo Feydit dobro su se izvukli.

- Naša šteta je za sada manja od 300 eura, neki su slomili spinakere, a to je 6-7.000 eura štete.

Iako uživa na moru, voli tu borbu s prirodnim silama, priznaje da su neka iskustva na oceanu zastrašujuća.

- Ponekad je stvarno strašno i zapravo uvijek moraš dosta procjenjivati s koliko rizika želiš ući u neke situacije, ako nemaš sreće...

U svom “brodskom dnevniku”, kako smo mi nazvali njegove zapise s regate Les Sables - Horta - Les Sables koje je objavljivao proteklih dana pisao je i o “paklenoj vožnji u srce kaosa”, a noć sve čini težim i strašnijim.

- Ne vidiš ništa, a brod roni ispod vode, nabija se na valove i kad ispliva dobije ogromnu brzinu i samo čekaš idući val u koji će zaroniti...
