Guvernerka New Yorka naredila je državnim agencijama da pojačaju nadzor plaža na Long Islandu nakon niza od pet napada morskih pasa u posljednja dva tjedna.

Iznenadna serija ljetnih napada morskih pasa počela je 30. lipnja, a srećom niti jedan od ugriza nije se pokazao smrtonosnim.

"Poduzimamo mjere kako bi proširili patrole za morske pse i zaštitili posjetitelje plaža od potencijalno opasnih situacija", rekla je guvernerka New Yorka Kathy Hochul.

Guvernerka je zatražila isplatu prekovremenih sati za povećanje broja spasilaca na plažama za 25 posto, raspoređivanje patrolnih čamaca, bespilotnih letjelica i helikoptera te distribuciju materijala kako bi se posjetitelje plaža upozorilo na prijetnju.

Gavin Naylor iz International Shark Attacka je rekao kako se čini da su većinu napada izveli mladi pješčani tigrasti morski psi.

"Mladi su obično manje pronicljivi kada ciljaju plijen i manje iskusni. Veći su obično dalje od obale", rekao je Naylor. "Ali najbliži razlog je to što morski psi traže hranu."

Prvi napad se dogodio 30. lipnja kada je morski pas ugrizao jednog plivača za desno stopalo u blizini plaže Jones, tri dana kasnije je spasilac iz Smith Pointa ugrižen za ruku tijekom treninga, potom je spasilac napadnut u blizini Ocean Beacha, zadobivši lakše ozljede gležnja.

Zadnja dva napada dogodila su se prošlog tjedna kada je morski pas ugrizao surfera za nogu na plaži Smith Point, dok je plivač iz Arizone napadnut na plaži Seaview.

Guvernerka New Yorka naredila je državnim agencijama da pojačaju nadzor plaža na Long Islandu nakon niza od pet napada morskih pasa u posljednja dva tjedna.

Iznenadna serija ljetnih napada morskih pasa počela je 30. lipnja, a srećom niti jedan od ugriza nije se pokazao smrtonosnim.

"Poduzimamo mjere kako bi proširili patrole za morske pse i zaštitili posjetitelje plaža od potencijalno opasnih situacija", rekla je guvernerka New Yorka Kathy Hochul.

Guvernerka je zatražila isplatu prekovremenih sati za povećanje broja spasilaca na plažama za 25 posto, raspoređivanje patrolnih čamaca, bespilotnih letjelica i helikoptera te distribuciju materijala kako bi se posjetitelje plaža upozorilo na prijetnju.

Gavin Naylor iz International Shark Attacka je rekao kako se čini da su većinu napada izveli mladi pješčani tigrasti morski psi.

"Mladi su obično manje pronicljivi kada ciljaju plijen i manje iskusni. Veći su obično dalje od obale", rekao je Naylor. "Ali najbliži razlog je to što morski psi traže hranu."

Prvi napad se dogodio 30. lipnja kada je morski pas ugrizao jednog plivača za desno stopalo u blizini plaže Jones, tri dana kasnije je spasilac iz Smith Pointa ugrižen za ruku tijekom treninga, potom je spasilac napadnut u blizini Ocean Beacha, zadobivši lakše ozljede gležnja.

Zadnja dva napada dogodila su se prošlog tjedna kada je morski pas ugrizao surfera za nogu na plaži Smith Point, dok je plivač iz Arizone napadnut na plaži Seaview.

Guvernerka New Yorka naredila je državnim agencijama da pojačaju nadzor plaža na Long Islandu nakon niza od pet napada morskih pasa u posljednja dva tjedna.

Iznenadna serija ljetnih napada morskih pasa počela je 30. lipnja, a srećom niti jedan od ugriza nije se pokazao smrtonosnim.

"Poduzimamo mjere kako bi proširili patrole za morske pse i zaštitili posjetitelje plaža od potencijalno opasnih situacija", rekla je guvernerka New Yorka Kathy Hochul.

Guvernerka je zatražila isplatu prekovremenih sati za povećanje broja spasilaca na plažama za 25 posto, raspoređivanje patrolnih čamaca, bespilotnih letjelica i helikoptera te distribuciju materijala kako bi se posjetitelje plaža upozorilo na prijetnju.

Gavin Naylor iz International Shark Attacka je rekao kako se čini da su većinu napada izveli mladi pješčani tigrasti morski psi.

"Mladi su obično manje pronicljivi kada ciljaju plijen i manje iskusni. Veći su obično dalje od obale", rekao je Naylor. "Ali najbliži razlog je to što morski psi traže hranu."

Prvi napad se dogodio 30. lipnja kada je morski pas ugrizao jednog plivača za desno stopalo u blizini plaže Jones, tri dana kasnije je spasilac iz Smith Pointa ugrižen za ruku tijekom treninga, potom je spasilac napadnut u blizini Ocean Beacha, zadobivši lakše ozljede gležnja.

Zadnja dva napada dogodila su se prošlog tjedna kada je morski pas ugrizao surfera za nogu na plaži Smith Point, dok je plivač iz Arizone napadnut na plaži Seaview.
