Srbija od početka listopada provodi popis svojega stanovništva. Premda njegovi preliminarni rezultati ne bi trebali biti poznati prije prosinca, srbijanska ministrica demografije Darija Kisić već je izašla u javnost s podatkom da je u današnjoj Srbiji najmanje 700.000 stanovnika manje nego prilikom zadnjeg popisa prije deset godina.

Pošto je 2011. u Srbiji popisano nešto manje od 7 milijuna i 200 tisuća građana, ministričine riječi znače da u Srbiji trenutno ne živi više od 6 i pol milijuna ljudi, što matematički precizno svjedoči o dosegnutom blagostanju, pravdi i stabilnosti zajednice.

No, ni Hrvatska se, usprkos članstvu u Europskoj uniji i nominalno višem životnom standardu, nema baš demografskih razloga naslađivati istočnim susjedima. Prema popisu stanovništva iz 1991. godine naša zemlja je brojala gotovo 4,8 milijuna stanovnika, da bi prema lanjskome popisu, 30 godina kasnije, imala manje od 3,9 milijuna. Nastavimo li gubiti žitelje dosadašnjim tempom od gotovo milijun ljudi u 30 godina, nije teško izračunati koliko ćemo još potrajati: u najpesimističnijem scenariju, tek nešto više od jednog ljudskog vijeka. Utješno je jedino da će nas u ovim lijepim krajevima imati tko zamijeniti: Zemlja je upravo ovih dana dobila svog 8-milijarditog stanovnika.

Najveći demografski pad u našoj regiji u proteklom je 30-godišnjem razdoblju imala Bosna i Hercegovina. Prema popisu iz 1991., BiH je imala 4,36 milijuna stanovnika. Danas, prema optimističnijoj procjeni Svjetske banke, u BiH ne živi više od 3, 2 milijuna ljudi, dok realniji govore da ih je znatno manje i od te brojke, samo oko 2, 7 milijuna.  

Neposredno prije rata čitava Jugoslavija je imala 24 milijuna stanovnika. Za usporedbu, karađorđevićevsku Jugoslaviju 1931. godine nastanjivalo je samo 14 milijuna ljudi, uglavnom nepismenih seljaka. U 50-ak godina SFRJ, stanovništvo istog prostora se povećalo za gotovo cijelu jednu trećinu, usprkos Drugom svjetskom ratu, golemim stradanjima i demografskim gubicima, pa i emigracijama u inozemstvo u istom tom razdoblju. To iskustvo nas uči: može se, kad se hoće.

Na nekadašnjem prostoru bivše države, u odnosu na osamdesete godine prošlog stoljeća, danas prema procjenama demografa nedostaje najmanje cijela jedna Hrvatska od oko 4 milijuna ljudi, jer sve bivše federalne republike zajedno broje znatno manje od 20 milijuna stanovnika.

Čak je i Kosovo, koje je u SFRJ svojedobno demografski najrapidnije raslo, s gotovo 2 milijuna stanovnika 1990. spalo na samo 1,7 milijuna danas. Sjeverna Makedonija je u donekle stabilnoj stagnaciji i ostala je na približno istoj predratnoj brojki od 2 milijuna stalno naseljenih duša, a Crna Gora je demografski narasla tek u okviru statističke pogreške, s 615 na oko 620 tisuća građana, za što se pretpostavlja da ima zahvaliti primarno doseljavanju, a ne prirodnom prirastu.

Prilično senzacionalno, no ne i iznenađujuće, zvuči podatak da od svih federalnih jedinica bivše SFRJ jedini stabilni demografski rast u zadnjih 30 godina bilježi ona najprogresivnija i najeuropskija. Republika Slovenija je 1991. brojala 1,9 milijuna građana, a danas ih na popisu ima preko 200 tisuća više: 2,1 milijun.

Ove zbirne brojke rječito govore koje su države s područja bivše SFRJ shvatile praktične koristi od demokracije, pa nakon osamostaljenja na vlast biraju svoje dobrotvore i preporoditelje, a ne destruktivce, manipulatore i krajnje sebične parazite.

Srbija od početka listopada provodi popis svojega stanovništva. Premda njegovi preliminarni rezultati ne bi trebali biti poznati prije prosinca, srbijanska ministrica demografije Darija Kisić već je izašla u javnost s podatkom da je u današnjoj Srbiji najmanje 700.000 stanovnika manje nego prilikom zadnjeg popisa prije deset godina.

Pošto je 2011. u Srbiji popisano nešto manje od 7 milijuna i 200 tisuća građana, ministričine riječi znače da u Srbiji trenutno ne živi više od 6 i pol milijuna ljudi, što matematički precizno svjedoči o dosegnutom blagostanju, pravdi i stabilnosti zajednice.

No, ni Hrvatska se, usprkos članstvu u Europskoj uniji i nominalno višem životnom standardu, nema baš demografskih razloga naslađivati istočnim susjedima. Prema popisu stanovništva iz 1991. godine naša zemlja je brojala gotovo 4,8 milijuna stanovnika, da bi prema lanjskome popisu, 30 godina kasnije, imala manje od 3,9 milijuna. Nastavimo li gubiti žitelje dosadašnjim tempom od gotovo milijun ljudi u 30 godina, nije teško izračunati koliko ćemo još potrajati: u najpesimističnijem scenariju, tek nešto više od jednog ljudskog vijeka. Utješno je jedino da će nas u ovim lijepim krajevima imati tko zamijeniti: Zemlja je upravo ovih dana dobila svog 8-milijarditog stanovnika.

Najveći demografski pad u našoj regiji u proteklom je 30-godišnjem razdoblju imala Bosna i Hercegovina. Prema popisu iz 1991., BiH je imala 4,36 milijuna stanovnika. Danas, prema optimističnijoj procjeni Svjetske banke, u BiH ne živi više od 3, 2 milijuna ljudi, dok realniji govore da ih je znatno manje i od te brojke, samo oko 2, 7 milijuna.  

Neposredno prije rata čitava Jugoslavija je imala 24 milijuna stanovnika. Za usporedbu, karađorđevićevsku Jugoslaviju 1931. godine nastanjivalo je samo 14 milijuna ljudi, uglavnom nepismenih seljaka. U 50-ak godina SFRJ, stanovništvo istog prostora se povećalo za gotovo cijelu jednu trećinu, usprkos Drugom svjetskom ratu, golemim stradanjima i demografskim gubicima, pa i emigracijama u inozemstvo u istom tom razdoblju. To iskustvo nas uči: može se, kad se hoće.

Na nekadašnjem prostoru bivše države, u odnosu na osamdesete godine prošlog stoljeća, danas prema procjenama demografa nedostaje najmanje cijela jedna Hrvatska od oko 4 milijuna ljudi, jer sve bivše federalne republike zajedno broje znatno manje od 20 milijuna stanovnika.

Čak je i Kosovo, koje je u SFRJ svojedobno demografski najrapidnije raslo, s gotovo 2 milijuna stanovnika 1990. spalo na samo 1,7 milijuna danas. Sjeverna Makedonija je u donekle stabilnoj stagnaciji i ostala je na približno istoj predratnoj brojki od 2 milijuna stalno naseljenih duša, a Crna Gora je demografski narasla tek u okviru statističke pogreške, s 615 na oko 620 tisuća građana, za što se pretpostavlja da ima zahvaliti primarno doseljavanju, a ne prirodnom prirastu.

Prilično senzacionalno, no ne i iznenađujuće, zvuči podatak da od svih federalnih jedinica bivše SFRJ jedini stabilni demografski rast u zadnjih 30 godina bilježi ona najprogresivnija i najeuropskija. Republika Slovenija je 1991. brojala 1,9 milijuna građana, a danas ih na popisu ima preko 200 tisuća više: 2,1 milijun.

Ove zbirne brojke rječito govore koje su države s područja bivše SFRJ shvatile praktične koristi od demokracije, pa nakon osamostaljenja na vlast biraju svoje dobrotvore i preporoditelje, a ne destruktivce, manipulatore i krajnje sebične parazite.
