Nizozemski trgovački brod "Resstborg" plovio je s teretom papira duž Meksičkog zaljeva iz Floride prema Teksasu. Na zapovjednom mostu u gvardiji je sam bio drugi časnik palube Luka Krmić (33) iz Komina u dolini Neretve, koji je u tri sata na udaljenosti pet milja od broda primijetio signalno svjetlo s nepoznatog plovila.

Odlučio je provjeriti o čemu se radi, a probudio i zapovjednicu "Resstborga", pedantnu Nizozemku s velikim iskustvom u plovidbi. Od 11 članova posade Luka je bio jedini Hrvat, piše sph.hr

- Kad smo se nepoznatom plovilu približili na oko milju udaljenosti uočili smo da je riječ o ljudima u nevolji, koji su mahali i vikali tražeći pomoć. U trošnoj drvenoj brodici dugačkoj oko devet metara bilo je 16 kubanskih migranata, tri žene i 13 muškaraca, u dobi od 25 do 60 godina, koji su već 10 dana plutali Meksičkim zaljevom.

Svjetlosne signale davali su ručnim baterijskim svjetiljkama. More je bilo mirno, ali najavljivan je skori dolazak nevremena. Stupili smo u kontakt s američkom Obalnom stražom koja nas je zadužila da spasimo te nevoljnike, pored kojih je prethodno prošlo nekoliko brodova.

U tom trenutku nalazili smo se 270 milja od poluotoka Yuacatan i 230 milja od obale američke savezne države Lujzijane - ispričao je skromni Krmić.

Nakon što se 170 metara dug brod pažljivo približio trošnoj brodici, koja je potom pomoću konopa privučena uz njegov lijevi bok, svih 16 migranata sretno se po popelo po brodskoj skali na palubu "Resstborga". Akcijom spašavanja koja je trajala od oko sat i pol uspješno je rukovodio Krmić.

Posada je iznemoglim migrantima pružila potrebnu pomoć i okrjepu, a nizozemski je brod zaplovio prema poziciji koju je naznačila Obalna straža SAD-a, koja je ujutro preuzela migrante. Američke vlasti pisano su zahvalile posadi na uspješnoj odrađenoj akciji spašavanja 16 kubanskih državljana.

Da su članovi obitelj Krmić, otac Helen, majka Silvija, Luka i njegova supruga Ivana, iznimno osjetljivi na muku i nevolju pomoraca pokazali su u listopadu 2013. kad su dali veliki doprinos u prikupljanju pomoći za kupnju hrane i vode potom donirane napuštenoj posadi grčkog broda "Lucky Ned", koji se nalazio na sidrištu pločanske luke. Luka napominje da su u toj akciji puno pomogle obitelji Visković i Dugandžić.

Krmići su i veliki zaljubljenici u tradicionalne neretvanske lađe. Kao mladić Luka je bio veslač i parićar (kormilar). Majka Silvija je bila kormilarica "Gusarica iz Komina" koje su 2014. pobijedile na Prvom ženskom maratonu lađa, veslanom uzvodno od Opuzena do Metkovića.

Nizozemski trgovački brod "Resstborg" plovio je s teretom papira duž Meksičkog zaljeva iz Floride prema Teksasu. Na zapovjednom mostu u gvardiji je sam bio drugi časnik palube Luka Krmić (33) iz Komina u dolini Neretve, koji je u tri sata na udaljenosti pet milja od broda primijetio signalno svjetlo s nepoznatog plovila.

Odlučio je provjeriti o čemu se radi, a probudio i zapovjednicu "Resstborga", pedantnu Nizozemku s velikim iskustvom u plovidbi. Od 11 članova posade Luka je bio jedini Hrvat, piše sph.hr

- Kad smo se nepoznatom plovilu približili na oko milju udaljenosti uočili smo da je riječ o ljudima u nevolji, koji su mahali i vikali tražeći pomoć. U trošnoj drvenoj brodici dugačkoj oko devet metara bilo je 16 kubanskih migranata, tri žene i 13 muškaraca, u dobi od 25 do 60 godina, koji su već 10 dana plutali Meksičkim zaljevom.

Svjetlosne signale davali su ručnim baterijskim svjetiljkama. More je bilo mirno, ali najavljivan je skori dolazak nevremena. Stupili smo u kontakt s američkom Obalnom stražom koja nas je zadužila da spasimo te nevoljnike, pored kojih je prethodno prošlo nekoliko brodova.

U tom trenutku nalazili smo se 270 milja od poluotoka Yuacatan i 230 milja od obale američke savezne države Lujzijane - ispričao je skromni Krmić.

Nakon što se 170 metara dug brod pažljivo približio trošnoj brodici, koja je potom pomoću konopa privučena uz njegov lijevi bok, svih 16 migranata sretno se po popelo po brodskoj skali na palubu "Resstborga". Akcijom spašavanja koja je trajala od oko sat i pol uspješno je rukovodio Krmić.

Posada je iznemoglim migrantima pružila potrebnu pomoć i okrjepu, a nizozemski je brod zaplovio prema poziciji koju je naznačila Obalna straža SAD-a, koja je ujutro preuzela migrante. Američke vlasti pisano su zahvalile posadi na uspješnoj odrađenoj akciji spašavanja 16 kubanskih državljana.

Da su članovi obitelj Krmić, otac Helen, majka Silvija, Luka i njegova supruga Ivana, iznimno osjetljivi na muku i nevolju pomoraca pokazali su u listopadu 2013. kad su dali veliki doprinos u prikupljanju pomoći za kupnju hrane i vode potom donirane napuštenoj posadi grčkog broda "Lucky Ned", koji se nalazio na sidrištu pločanske luke. Luka napominje da su u toj akciji puno pomogle obitelji Visković i Dugandžić.

Krmići su i veliki zaljubljenici u tradicionalne neretvanske lađe. Kao mladić Luka je bio veslač i parićar (kormilar). Majka Silvija je bila kormilarica "Gusarica iz Komina" koje su 2014. pobijedile na Prvom ženskom maratonu lađa, veslanom uzvodno od Opuzena do Metkovića.

Nizozemski trgovački brod "Resstborg" plovio je s teretom papira duž Meksičkog zaljeva iz Floride prema Teksasu. Na zapovjednom mostu u gvardiji je sam bio drugi časnik palube Luka Krmić (33) iz Komina u dolini Neretve, koji je u tri sata na udaljenosti pet milja od broda primijetio signalno svjetlo s nepoznatog plovila.

Odlučio je provjeriti o čemu se radi, a probudio i zapovjednicu "Resstborga", pedantnu Nizozemku s velikim iskustvom u plovidbi. Od 11 članova posade Luka je bio jedini Hrvat, piše sph.hr
